Tom Holland has launched a business venture inspired by his personal journey. On Wednesday, he launched Bero, a line of non-alcoholic beers, in collaboration with Imaginary Ventures and former Nutrabolt president John Herman. Holland’s new line of beverages comes at a time when the Spider-Man actor is two years sober.
Holland first opened up about his struggles with alcohol in a podcast last year. He shared that he was a heavy drinker during the Christmas Holidays and found it really difficult when he decided to join the Dry January initiative. He understood his problem with alcoholic drinks and has since stayed away from them.
Tom Holland’s Sobriety Journey Inspired The Launch of His Brand Bero
Tom Holland broke into the non-alcoholic beverages space with his new line of beer called Bero. The brand is something personal for Holland as he is more than two years sober. Holland shocked his fans when he opened up about his alcohol struggles during his appearance on the On Purpose podcast with Jay Shetty.
He shared that his alcohol consumption reached peak levels during Christmas time. Holland realized his problem during Dry January, an initiative by Alcohol Change UK that encouraged people to remove alcohol from their diet for the month of January. For Holland, the month was really tough as he recalled that he could only think about having a drink during this period.
He told Jay Shetty that it was a really scary period. That one month was enough for Holland to see the problem. It prompted him to try and stay sober for another month. He shared with the On Purpose podcast:
Tom Holland found it really hard to keep up with his sobriety, especially with the drinking culture of the UK. He felt that he couldn’t be social as going to the pub or going out for dinner would’ve forced him to have a drink. After successfully completing two months, he extended his no-drinking rule to six months. The Uncharted actor shared that he was more happy once he was on a swing with his sobriety. He shared:
It appears that Holland’s new business venture supports his no-alcohol lifestyle. The launch of Bero has been one of his significant career updates of the year. Fans hope that Holland can follow this up with his Spider-Man 4 update.
Tom Holland Says Bero Reflects His Lifestyle And Values
Tom Holland’s Bero is now available for purchase online via the site BERObrewing.com. The beer for sober people currently has three varieties, all named after Holland’s upbringing in the UK. These include Kingston Golden Pils, named after his hometown; Edge Hill Hazy IPA, named after his primary school; and Noon Wheat, named after his dog.
Holland shared that Bero was the result of his desire to create something that reflected his lifestyle and values. He shared that the beer is not only for those on a sobriety path but also for everyone who appreciates craftsmanship. He shared in a statement (via Variety):
Interestingly, Zendaya who “absolutely hates beer” loved Bero when she was invited to taste it. Holland told Forbes that she was like “Wow, these are really tasty,” to which he jokingly replied that it was probably not a good sign. According to Holland, he and co-founder John Herman had been working on the three varieties of beer since November 2023.
