The Stupidest Decision Ever in The Penguin Episode 5 Seemingly Confirms a Devastating Death Will Grip Colin Farrell’s Oz

Some shows have highs, and some shows have their lows (*cough* Game of Thrones) but The Penguin is a show that seems to be reveling in success. Well… here’s the low part.

Although it isn’t necessarily a bad thing, there is a term called an ‘idiot plot’. This means that the plot would be over if all the characters weren’t idiots. Although Colin Farrell’s Penguin is a damn good genius, his allies, well, aren’t so great.

Spoiler Alert !!!
A Spoiler alert for The Penguin Episode 5 is now in effect!

In Episode 5 of The Penguin, we see Oz Cobb and Victor Aguilar running for their lives. Exploring some abandoned tunnels and finding a generator allegedly left by Batman, the episode sees Cobb caring for his mother even while being on the run.

Since the show is about Colin Farrell’s character rising to power in the underworld of Gotham, we see a caring side to his character as well. In the latest episodes of the show, Cobb tells Vic Aguilar to take his mother in a car away from the gang wars.

Well, Aguilar could have taken Oz Cobb’s mother anywhere out of Gotham. However, the show decided to keep her in Gotham City. Some people are angry at this fact and some of them are calling this an ‘idiot plot’.

It has been revealed that Francis Cobb (the mother of Oz Cobb) suffers from early-onset dementia. This essentially makes her a flight risk for Colin Farrell’s character, even in normal situations.

This is a gang war that we are talking about, and Cobb is on the run. The decision to keep his mother in Gotham City seems to be a decision that many people seem to disagree with. However, Chekhov’s Gun narrative in The Penguin is quite strong.

The Chekhov’s Gun Narrative Is Quite Strong For The Penguin

Yeah. In episode 5, we see Oz Cobb exploring the abandoned metro tunnels of East Gotham. During the episode, Cobb sees a generator in one of these tunnels which was allegedly left by the Batman.

Although it might have been just a minor easter egg, it could turn out to be something much more than that. Much like the Batman easter egg, the decision to leave Oz Cobb’s mother in Gotham City could also be a very important decision.

It might just seem that Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb might have to get some tissue papers ready. There are theories that Francis Cobb (who is already a flight risk) could be a key emotional point for Oz Cobb.

Even though Penguin wouldn’t likely lose, Cobb might just have to be prepared to lose his mother at any point in time. With 5 episodes to its name, The Penguin currently stands at a rating of 8.8/10 on IMDB and a whopping 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.

With the 6th episode slated for a release date of 27 October, the iconic show is available to stream on Max in the U.S.
