Startling Boruto Theory Makes Everything You Thought You Knew about Kaguya a Bold-Faced Lie

From pacing to animation, Boruto has been at the epicenter of criticism. By far, the biggest critique this series has is that of its villain. Overpowered antagonists didn’t seem to sit well with the fans. Especially when it comes to nerfing some of the iconic antagonists. This includes the matriarch of the Otsutsuki clan, Kaguya Otsutsuki whose origins are as murky as they get.

This is especially true with the outlining of her initial motives in Naruto. The plot holes in Masashi Kishimoto’s series continue to plague the sequel. Especially when it comes to the Rabbit Princess’ origin story. In a twisted move, this fan theory topples the origins of the villain. It also is insane in terms of plausibility which points to the obscure nature of her character.

This fan theory topples the origin story of Kaguya Otsutsuki

Kaguya Otsutsuki is one of the most powerful characters who appears in Naruto Shippuden. She is the matriarch of the Otsutsuki clan and the progenitor of the chakra on Earth. Apart from creating Black Zetsu, she played a pivotal role in shaping the power system of the Shinobis. This is especially true with her legacy of dojutsu and kekkei genkai. And there’s more to it.

From her descent to Earth to her eventual decisions, the characters’ motives are quite obscure. This is especially true with her origins and backstory. Her history is outlined in the Shippuden series through her son Hagoromo Otsutsuki. Her initial goal was to cultivate the chakra fruit on Earth and guard its existence. However, this fan theory topples everything we know about her.

A Reddit theory posits a bizarre conclusion regarding the characters’ motives. Including the fact that she didn’t consume the chakra fruit. As crazy as it sounds, this might have some plausibility to it.

Despite the origin stories of the Otsutsuki clan, Naruto has some major plotholes. This further triggers some pressing questions and mysteries. The sequel manages to outline some of the burning questions and inconsistencies. This is also closely tied to this character as well as her clan.

Boruto outlines major plotholes from the Naruto series

Boruto may not be the ideal sequel series but it excels in most aspects. From its treatment of side characters to its character designs, the series is a visual treat. This also extends to its exploring of the plot inconsistencies from the original series.

This holds especially true with the Otsutsuki clan’s origins. The sequel also explores the origins of the chakra fruit tree which remains obscure. However, we’ve barely scratched the surface with this one.

The Reddit thread points to a major unresolved question regarding the chakra fruit. Kishimoto outlined the pivotal role of chakra fruit in triggering the conflict on Earth. How did the Earth not die when chakra fruit was consumed?

This also points to the inconsistency in laying out the duration of Earth’s depletion. Especially when an Otsutsuki consumes a chakra fruit, how long would it take for the planet to come to ruin? Most importantly, how did Earth survive after Hagoromo’s mother consumed the chakra fruit? The series left us with several burning questions.

Despite the sheer criticism laid out by fans, the sequel excels in exploring these plot holes. Especially when it comes to underlining the Otsutsuki clan, the series diminishes the plotholes. With new villains and a fleshed-out plot, the series is often overlooked for its attempt to rectify its precursor’s mistakes.

Boruto and Naruto are available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The manga is available for reading on Viz Media.
