One of the aspects of the new Silent Hill 2 remake that remains most faithful to the original game is the variety of puzzles to solve. It was one of the game’s best features because there were many secrets and mysteries.
Some puzzles are necessary to unlock new parts of the story or even new areas to explore within this strange town. In the Woodside Apartments area, there’s a puzzle involving coins that unlocks a crucial cabinet in the game. This is a guide to solving the Woodside Apartments Coin Puzzle in Silent Hill 2.
Where Can You Find the Coins in Silent Hill 2 Remake?
To solve the coin cabinet puzzle located on the ground floor of the Woodside Apartments, you need to find a total of three coins scattered throughout the apartment complex.
To find the first of these three coins in Silent Hill 2, head to the second floor and solve the code for the safe. You can check our guide for all the safe codes to quickly unlock it and grab the coin. This guide will also help you solve other puzzles.
To locate the second coin, head to the ground floor, exit the apartment complex, and head towards the courtyard. In this courtyard, you’ll find an empty pool, and in the middle, a baby stroller holds the second of the three available coins.
For the last coin, go to the third floor, to the trash chute area. There is a blockage obstructing the laundry chute and trash disposal area. You’ll need to move it and crawl inside. Upon checking the trash deposit, you’ll find the last coin.
Here Are the Steps for Solving This Puzzle in Silent Hill 2
To unlock the last coin, you need to grab a pack of juice cans and throw it down the trash chute. Doing so will trigger a cutscene where the coin falls outside the building.
Once you retrieve the coin, you can head back to the ground floor. On the right side, there is a cabinet where you can start solving the puzzle in the Silent Hill 2 remake.
To start solving the puzzle, the first step is to place the woman coin in the middle slot of the five available on the cabinet. Once you’ve done that, flip the snake coin to reveal a flower on the far right, then place it in the corresponding slot.
Following the text above the cabinet, place the man coin with the moon in the middle of the cabinet on the far left of it. Then flip the man’s coin to reveal a sword and move it one space to the right toward the woman.
Grab the woman coin and move it one space right. This will cause the moon to change back into a sun, revealing new text on the cabinet. Now, flip the flower coin back into a snake, following the text’s instruction.
After this, flip the sword coin back to the man and place it in the middle slot of the cabinet, following the text again. To finish this puzzle, flip the woman coin to reveal a tombstone and place it in the same spot.
This will trigger the cabinet again and reveal more text. In addition to revealing new text, the cabinet will also disable two slots, allowing you to place any of the three coins in their current positions.
Finally, place these coins at the top of the cabinet to complete the puzzle and reveal the key to room 201 in the apartments.
