As you reach one of the final parts in Silent Hill 2 Remake, several puzzles become much more related to the supernatural compared to earlier sections of the game.
One of the strangest and, at the same time, most intricate to understand is the rotating cube in the middle of the Labyrinth area. This particular puzzle will give you access to all kinds of new locations to explore and collect items like bullets, healing, and other useful objects.

Understanding the Labyrinth in the Silent Hill 2 Remake
Once you reach the Labyrinth section of Silent Hill 2 Remake, one of the first things you’ll find in the center of the area, which hasn’t yet appeared on the map, is a giant cloth covering something. Upon uncovering this, you’ll notice a cube with a man’s face and various symbols on the sides.
This cube will rotate according to the direction you choose. Right behind it, you’ll see how an entire structure moves, which you can access if you rotate the cube correctly. As you rotate the cube and gain access to different areas, you must always pay attention to the walls on its sides.
That means you should exit the cube interaction and check what symbols are on these walls. This will assist you in navigating through the labyrinth, as you will need to align the cube with the corresponding symbols on the walls.

The Different Areas to Explore Thanks to the Rotating Cube
Depending on the order in which you’ve visited these places and the symbols that appear on the walls, you’ll be able to access different areas in this labyrinth of Silent Hill 2 remake.
Once you’ve checked the symbols on the cube’s side walls, you’ll need to interact with the cube to align the symbol with the same one you see.
When you do this, a small bridge will open, allowing you to access the room with the aligned symbol. At some point, you’ll reach a hallway with three doors. The order may vary, but you will open three areas in total: the rotten, the desolate, and the ruined.
Each area will have different items to collect, and once you’ve fully explored one of them, you won’t be able to access it again after returning to the rotating cube zone.
Cleaning up these areas will help you solve this puzzle and continue the story. The cube’s rotation, both to the sides and up and down, requires patience, despite its apparent simplicity. In the end, it’s just like a more simple Rubik’s Cube.
How to Solve the Cube Puzzle in Silent Hill 2?
Each player will see different symbols on the walls, but to quickly illustrate this, each symbol on the cube should have the same orientation as the one on the wall. The first symbol in Silent Hill 2 Remake’s labyrinth is a triangle with an inverted cross below it, visible on the upper left wall.
After rotating the cube to match the orientation of this symbol, a bridge will form between the rotating structure and the nearby puzzle area. Once you enter through that door and navigate through a short area to reach the final hallway, you will encounter three doors; unlocking the one on the left will grant you access to the Rotten area.
Once you complete this entire area and explore it thoroughly, you can return to the cube puzzle area, but you will no longer have access to that zone.
Once you return to the rotating cube area, if you move to the right before interacting with the cube, you will notice a symbol of infinity, accompanied by a cross above it and another line.
Accessing the Different Doors
The infinity symbol is at the bottom of this figure. You must rotate the cube in all directions until this symbol matches the wall.
Once you enter the new structure, you will ascend until you reach the final three doors. From there, you can proceed to the right door, which leads to the desolation area.
Again, you’ll need to explore this entire area to discover everything it holds and then return to the location with the rotating cube puzzle.
Continuing in the cube area, you’ll need to look again before interacting. To the right at the back, you’ll see an inverted triangle pointing down, with an inverted cross as the next symbol to mimic. Approach the cube, and by rotating it, make sure this symbol matches the one on the wall, allowing you to access this new area.
Once you enter the structure, you will eventually reach the end of the hallway and be able to access the central door that leads to the ruined area.
The only thing to keep in mind is that during one of these cube rotations, you’ll also be able to access an area without a specific symbol, where you can pick up one of the strange photos featured in the game. After solving the last area, you’ll be able to continue progressing through the title.
