Silent Hill 2 Remake: Everything You Need To Know About New Game Plus

Silent Hill 2 Remake has some great replay value thanks to its worthwhile New Game Plus mode. The game is packed with creepy creatures and a dark atmosphere, and there’s plenty more to uncover in a second playthrough, including brand-new endings.

This game’s NG+ offers more than just a simple replay as it comes with a bunch of cool new stuff like new items and a powerful weapon as well. Let’s go over everything new in this mode and if it’s worth facing the horrors of the game again.

The NG+ exclusive Chainsaw alone makes it worth replaying the Silent Hill 2 Remake.

To unlock NG+ in Silent Hill 2 Remake, players must complete the game at least once. After that, the option will appear in the main menu, allowing you to replay the game with a fresh twist. This is pretty straightforward, and the game doesn’t require any extra steps to unlock this.

But unlike most New Game+ modes in other games where players keep their weapons and resources, Silent Hill 2 Remake does not let anything carry over. That means that you’ll have to find all the weapons, health items, and other resources again from scratch.

One of the coolest things about NG+ is the extra content that it unlocks. The game has a total of eight different endings, but you can only see three on your first run. In this mode, all eight endings become available, including two new ones added just for the remake.

To unlock the new endings, you’ll need to gather special items that aren’t available in the first playthrough. This adds to the level of challenge and discovery, making it exciting for players who want to see every possible ending, and makes the replay worthwhile.

To help players figure out how to unlock these alternate endings, there are notes scattered around the game. You’ll find them in places like Groovy Music and Pete’s Bowl-O-Rama, giving hints on what to do.

Silent Hill 2 Remake also allows players to unlock new visual filters that change the look of the game, making it feel different. After beating the game once, all 10 filters become available, giving you a way to change the game’s tone, including one that makes it look more akin to the original.

New Weapons, Areas, and Items are exclusive to NG+

One of the main reasons to dive back into Silent Hill 2 Remake’s NG+ mode is the Chainsaw, a powerful weapon you can grab near the Silent Hill Ranch at the start. It’s a melee weapon that doesn’t need fuel and can tear through enemies like a breeze. It’s the ultimate tool for making another playthrough much easier, and much more fun.

Alongside the weapon, this mode also introduces new areas with extra items, and these are key to unlocking some of the game’s special endings. For example, you can find parts of the Dog Key, used to get the Dog ending, and the Blue Gem, which unlocks the UFO ending when used in specific spots in the game.

Other items, like the Lost Memories Book and the Crimson Ceremony Book, play a part in unlocking the Rebirth ending.

Then there’s the Key of Sorrow, which is only available after you’ve seen the In Water ending. This key unlocks the Stillness ending.

Another interesting item is the Rusted Key, found inside Pete’s Bowl-O-Rama. It’s used for the Bliss ending, but only if you’ve already unlocked the Leave ending in your previous run.

With all these new items and endings, NG+ in Silent Hill 2 Remake offers a lot more to explore, and it’s highly recommended to give it a shot.
