Saitama isn’t Stronger Than Goku Because Yusuke Murata Won’t Let One Punch Man Do the 1 Thing Akira Toriyama Makes Goku Do in Every Dragon Ball Arc

If you, as an otaku, are a part of any anime discussion forum or go through social media sites you are bound to have come across an unending debate. The debate in question is regarding the strongest Shonen protagonist, and Goku takes part in every single one of them.

Dragon Ball fans are obsessed with trying to prove Goku as the strongest protagonist to ever exist and for obvious reasons. I mean, who else can destroy entire planets in a single blast? Unless the rival in question is One Punch Man’s Saitama?

The Age-Long Debate of Goku Vs. Saitama

Goku was already stronger than average humans when he first debuted in Akira Toriyama‘s Dragon Ball (1984). But as time went by, he became ridiculously overpowered. After Super Saiyan 1, 2, 3, and 4, his latest achievement is the Perfected Ultra Instinct. With it, he has become the strongest mortal in Universe 7.

But Saitama is no joke either because no villain has been able to injure him in the entirety of One Punch Man. The series was created as a satire on existing Shonen manga and anime and Saitama was created with the intent of being so overpowered that he can never be defeated. However, he does have one weakness: he can be outperformed by those who are skilled in their preferred areas.

If a match between Goku and Saitama is ever to be held, it is bound to destroy a few universes in the vicinity, and you can bid your own existence adieu. That is until Goku gathers the Dragon Balls and wishes you and the destroyed universes back into existence. However, there is one fault in Saitama’s character that could lead to his loss to Goku.

Goku Might Overpower Saitama Due to His Relentless Training

Saitama’s training regime includes doing 100 push-ups, situps, squats and a 10km run every single day. The schedule was so extreme that it led him to achieve a shiny bald head, but it also gave him unachievable powers. But after the first few chapters, there has been no mention of Saitama training extra or sparring with anyone else. Given that he cannot be defeated by anyone from his universe, training with others might seem pointless.

But Goku, on the other hand, has been training every single day of his existence. He regularly trains with every powerful character in his sight, which includes Vegeta, Piccolo, Beerus, Whis, Gohan, and many other ridiculously overpowered characters. With each victory or loss, Goku’s power level rises astronomically.

Goku’s training makes him stronger every day, and once he faces an overpowered enemy, he trains till he can defeat them. If Saitama were to face Goku in battle, the latter might be defeated initially, but he is bound to train harder until he can figure out how to win. Saitama’s lack of external training gives him a disadvantage since his power status hasn’t changed much since his debut.

One Punch Man and Dragon Ball manga are available to read on Viz Media, and the anime are currently airing on Crunchyroll.
