Liam Payne passed away at the young age of 31 on October 17 in Buenos Aires after falling from the balcony of his hotel room on the third floor.
The news has rattled us to our cores and we can’t imagine what his loved ones would be going through right now. As we recall Liam Payne’s life and legacy, our heart goes out to the people he was near and dear to as they are left behind to deal with such a tragic loss, including his and Cheryl Cole’s (now Cheryl Tweedy) seven-year-old son, Bear. Speaking of Cheryl, we cannot forget the time she stood steadfast by Liam Payne during a health scare last year.
Cheryl’s Was Always There for Liam Payne
Last year, Liam Payne was rushed to the hospital due to a serious kidney infection. The singer had suffered from kidney problems ever since his childhood due to having only one working kidney as a result of being born prematurely. His girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, stayed by his side throughout the ordeal and was the one to reveal that he had been discharged from the hospital.
On the other hand, Cheryl, too, was worried sick about her ex. According to a source, the Call My Name singer was extremely “upset” upon hearing the news of his health scare.
The source added (via OK! Magazine),
Cheryl is a strong person, she’s very kind and she just wants Liam to be happy and healthy. She’s always tried to support him because he’s Bear’s father and she’s always tried to be there for him.
Despite having been broken up, the news took a toll on Cheryl. The source added,
It’s very hard for Cheryl – she feels upset about it. She is worried and concerned for Liam because he’s Bear’s dad and she wants him to be the best dad he can be. But she has her mum around her, who’s a great support for them, and recently she’s been getting on with her own life as a single mum. She’s been building her life and focusing on work and Bear.
This was a year before Payne passed away. Looking at Cheryl’s promise to always be there for him, we can only imagine the kind of grief she might be experiencing at the moment.
Liam Payne’s Death Shocks the World
Payne and Cassidy were vacationing in Buenos Aires, oblivious to the grim future that was awaiting them. After she flew back to the United States on October 14, Payne was alone at his hotel.
The Strip That Down singer died after falling from the balcony of his room at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel which was on the third floor. According to news reports, the police had received calls about an aggressive man possibly under the influence of drugs and alcohol, before his death.
While the police statement did not name the man as Payne, TMZ reported that the singer had been acting “erratic” in the lobby and even smashed his laptop. According to the report, Payne had to be carried back to his room.
Payne’s death feels like a personal loss since many of us have practically grown up with him and the others in One Direction. It is almost as if we are living in a nightmare, waiting for someone to shake us awake.
The fact that Payne was happily posting on his social media just minutes before his death somehow makes the entire situation even more unsettling. Honestly, using past tense for him breaks our hearts into a million tiny pieces.
