Former One Direction member Liam Payne has been under a lot of scrutiny lately from fans and others for more reasons than one. While it sure is difficult to learn upsetting things about the stars you once idolized, we should know by now that not everything is what it seems. As the careers of his ex-bandmates soar through the skies, Liam Payne seems to be stuck in a cycle of controversy after controversy. His former relationship with social media content creator Maya Henry is the latest of his concerns.
Maya Henry is now openly talking about their turbulent past. This might come as a punch to the gut for the Directioners who stanned Liam Payne, but allegedly, the singer demanded that she go through an abortion without proper medical help just so he could keep the news from reaching the media. Not only that, but he also allegedly left her all alone to deal with the heartbreaking scenario.
Did Maya Henry Write a Book About Liam Payne?
Maya Henry and Liam Payne were first linked together in 2018 when she was only eighteen years old and he was about 25. Over the next couple of years, not only did their relationship become public, but he also got down on one knee for the content creator. In 2021, though, Payne confirmed that he is single.
Henry and Payne’s relationship was not one that can be penned down as fairytale bliss. In fact, Henry has recently released a fictional novel titled Looking Forward, the story of which has been “inspired by true events.”
Looking Forward focuses on the story of Mallory Hunt who falls in love with ex-boy-bander Oliver Hunt. Seems a little familiar, doesn’t it? For context, there is a chapter in the book that sees Mallory go through a very private abortion after Oliver makes it clear that she could either choose him or the baby. His team makes sure she doesn’t seek professional medical help despite hemorrhaging, fearing their client’s public reputation.
Talking to PEOPLE, Henry opened up about her abortion stating that she wouldn’t have gone through with it if it was up to her.
Given the fact that Henry was only nineteen at the time, a decision like this was undoubtedly hard on her and has affected her to this day. She tells PEOPLE that there is no way of knowing “what goes on behind closed doors” which is why talking about difficult topics is a necessity, something she hopes her book would inspire women to do.
What Maya Henry Has Said About Her Abortion
Henry recently appeared on The Internet Is Dead podcast where she opened up about the harrowing details of her abortion. She stated that there is a chance that the abortion chapter in her book could result in her getting sued by Payne’s team and added that she couldn’t care less.
In her own words, “If you’re going to sue me for privacy over something that’s actually true, I’m not going to let you stop me from using my voice…There’s so many things you do that aren’t like, you don’t care to lead a private life.” Damn.
When Brittany Deitch expressed her condolences for the unfortunate event, Henry stated,
As per Henry, Payne was so stressed about his reputation getting tainted in the public, he talked her into having an abortion at home, without any help, when she was only 19. Not only that but he allegedly didn’t even bother staying by her side when she went through it all. Henry added, “And then I do it at home and then he leaves.” Things are really not looking good for the singer.
Now, Henry is all set to take legal action against her ex as she hires 2 top lawyers after accusing Payne of repeatedly messaging her and her friends, as well as trying to contact her mother. As per The Sun, Henry has issued a cease and desist to Payne.
