“God is coming”: Venom 3 Director Hints Knull Will be to Sony’s Spider-Man Universe What Robert Downey Jr’s Doom is to MCU

There are no characters like Knull across Marvel Comics. Standing alone and standing tall, the God of symbiotes and the Abyss had fans gasping at a mere mention and glimpse in the Venom 3 trailer for a reason. His power knows few bounds, and his hunger is almost never-ending. With this in mind, it is not surprising that fans were concerned about his entry into the cinematic universe.

There are several reasons why audiences are worried; ranging from poor execution to the timing of his arrival. One of the main concerns that they have, however, is the fact that introducing a threat as big as Knull in the final Tom Hardy films seems almost too rushed.

Thankfully, the director of the film, Kelly Marcel, was more than happy to ease the fans’ concerns.

A Dull Introduction of Knull?

Knull is essentially the big bad of the symbiote side of Marvel. He holds a menacing aura within himself, and his name causes fear in the minds of many. From killing a celestial for simply entering his kingdom of darkness with their light, to creating the symbiotes, and even crafting Gorr’s sword in the comics, he has had a lasting impact on Earth-616, to say the least.

Considering his power, his threat level exceeds some of the most powerful villains to have ever been seen within pages of any comic. So much so, that his importance in a live-action context would be far beyond that of Thanos and could even be more than Doctor Doom himself. With this in mind, it is not surprising that fans were concerned when it was announced that he would be a part of Venom: The Last Dance.

While he has been at the very center of Venom’s story since his introduction, trying to introduce such a villain in the very last film from the trilogy has raised a lot of concern among fans. Especially considering how vocal Tom Hardy has been about the project being his last as Eddie Brock.

However, it would seem that the fans’ worries were in vain, as the creators of the upcoming film seem to know very well how big of a threat they are dealing with.

Venom: The Last Dance Is Only the Beginning

Recently, the director of Venom: The Last Dance, Kelly Marcel, gave an interview with IGN, where she was asked some very interesting questions about the upcoming film. Specifically, the director was questioned about the introduction of Knull in the last film from Tom Hardy’s trilogy.

Considering how vocal fans have been about their concerns, it is not surprising that she was asked these questions. However, the answer that Marcel gave could entice fans to lay their worries to rest. She started by explaining that there are many stories to be told when it comes to symbiotes.

As the fans know there are many, many more symbiote stories — the universe is wide and rich, and one movie could never do justice to Knull. Beyond this trilogy, there are more stories to explore – God is coming.

While Carnage and Riot were only the beginning, symbiotes like Toxin, Scream, Scorn, and Anti-Venom are yet to make their debuts. With this in mind, Marcel mentioned that these stories will also bring in the greater villain that is Knull.

Hinting that the character is here to stay, it is safe to say that fans are very excited to see what Sony has in store for their franchise.

Venom: The Last Dance will be in theaters on October 25, 2024.
