Former EastEnders hun Cheryl Fergison opened up about her struggles of finding work.

The actress bowed out of the long-running show in 2012, when her much-loved character, Heather Trott, was killed by Ben Mitchell (played by Joshua Pascoe at the time).

Taking to Twitter, the soap star shed light on her ‘minus’ bank balance figures and juggling jobs.

‘I’ve been out of EastEnders for around 13 years,’ she wrote.

‘I’ve done jobs in between, I was in panto this year, but jobs aren’t continuous.

‘It’s not kind of like being in a soap all the time. Unless you’re like George Clooney or an A-Lister American star that gets millions for their films, it’s very difficult to be, in inverted commas, rich.

‘You just kind of keep by, you keep the roof over your head and that’s about it.’

In 2022 Cheryl told Metro.co.uk that ‘people kind of shout Heather at me in the street’.

‘There are people who shout out “How’s Minty, how’s baby George?”, and I just think… it’s not real! Do you know it’s not real?

‘Do you understand that it’s a programme and it’s a character and I am a different person to Heather Trott?’

Following her appearance on EastEnders – which has been on air for nearly 40 years – Cheryl has made a variety of television appearances on shows such as This Morning and Loose Women.
