Daisy May Cooper claims she’s being haunted by ghost of former co-star who ‘lifted the duvet off her bed’

SHE was left heartbroken when her This Country co-star Michael ‘Slugs’ Sleggs passed away after a battle with heart problems in 2019.

So having her home plagued by ghosts doesn’t worry Daisy May Cooper, who says she is actually comforted because she believes it is her pal haunting her.

Michael ‘Slugs’ Sleggs passed away after a battle with heart problems in 2019

Speaking ahead of the release of her book, Hexy Bitch: Tales From My Life, The Afterlife, And Beyond, Daisy told Radio Times: “There was banging at the bedroom door.

“Before that the duvet had lifted off the bed.

“I’m sure it was Slugs.

“I made him promise he would come back, and he would definitely do it because he knows it would freak me out, and he’d find that hilarious.”

Meanwhile, Daisy suffered a career blow earlier this year when her HBO show Rain Dogs was axed here and in the US after one series, due to disappointing ratings.

The series, a joint venture with the BBC, stars Daisy as struggling single mum Costello Jones, who works in a strip club.

But despite acclaim from critics, the comedy drama created by British writer Cash Carraway will not be returning.

A TV insider said: “It’s disappointing for Daisy as Rain Dogs was a good opportunity to make some inroads in the US.

“But unfortunately, it didn’t rate too well on both sides of the pond.

“So the production company behind it, Sid Gentle, agreed with Cash it was time to move on.

“Some critics praised the writing but ultimately it just didn’t pull up any trees.

The eight-parter aired on HBO and BBC One in March last year and earned Cash a place on the 2023 Bafta Breakthrough list.

I’m A Celeb bosses plan most extravagant launch show ever after blowing £21MILLION on ten-bedroom mega mansion

I’M A Celebrity bosses have blown the budget on a £21million mega mansion fit for Wag royalty Coleen Rooney to help launch the new series.

Reality show executives have booked the ten-bed Diamond Head estate, The Sun can reveal.

ITV is expected to use the property for the show’s big opening episode in Australia later this month[/caption]

ITV is expected to use the property for the show’s big opening episode in Australia later this month with hosts Ant and Dec.

And Coleen, 38, should feel at home after agreeing a £1.5million deal to appear in the jungle.

Diamond Head in Palm Beach, Queensland, was previously owned by MotoGP champ Mick Doohan and sold for £21million in 2022.

It has a private runway, helipad and boat jetty and boasts a cinema and wine cellar with 2,000 bottles.

Celebs who have enjoyed its luxury include actors Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp, who severed his finger during a heated row there with then wife Amber Heard.

A TV source said: “Diamond Head is one of Australia’s priciest properties so will suit Coleen down to the ground.

“The new location will bring showbiz sparkle to the series and the team are finalising details about how exactly the property will be used and for how long.”

Last year’s opener saw politician Nigel Farage, This Morning host Josie Gibson and YouTube star Nella Rose dumped in the middle of the outback in scorching heat.

A show source said: “Bosses are determined to pull out all the stops for this year’s launch and make it as visually spectacular as ever.

Everyone’s very excited about the celebs lined up for the new series — it’s going to be must-see TV.”

Coleen is set to be joined by ex-Strictly dance star Oti Mabuse, Corrie’s Alan Halsall and singer Tulisa Contostavlos.

Only Fools and Horses legend David Jason reveals the two huge stars who stopped him finally cracking Hollywood

SIR David Jason’s dreams of cracking Hollywood at the age of 84 have been left in tatters – and he blames Jim Broadbent and Sir Michael Caine.

After a stellar TV career, the Only Fools And Horses legend, with the catchphrase lovely jubbly, hoped to finally make a big impact on the big screen.

Jim actually turned down the role of Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses[/caption]

However, after meetings to discuss two lead roles, he discovered Broadbent and Caine bagged the parts.

Being pipped by Jim was particularly ironic as the Moulin Rouge star famously auditioned to play Del Boy, but turned it down due to theatre commitments.

But he was glad the part eventually went to Sir David, who played the market trader from 1981 to 2003.

Broadbent said: “Luckily David Jason was available so my biggest contribution to British culture is not being available.”

Sir David, however, has never had quite the same impact on the big screen.

He said: “I would love to be able to declare that my collected film work on DVD would make an elegant shelf of high-class cinematic experiences to browse among an evening.

“I fear, however, that it may look more like the contents of a box pulled out from under a table at a car boot sale”.

The actor was up for lead roles in two 2023 movies — The Unlikely Pilgrimage Of Harold Fry and The Great Escaper.

Broadbent beat him to the first, which he found out via a newspaper.

And Sir Michael Caine pipped him to the role of a Dunkirk veteran who flees his care home to attend a memorial across the Channel in The Great Escaper.

Writing in his new book This Time Next Year, out now, David says: “I thought it was going to be me escaping from the care home and going to look for my Dun-kirk chums.

“It’s the hope that kills you.”

MYSTERY WILD RIDE WITH ROB

ROB BRYDON has been confirmed as the “puppet master” who will keep contestants on their toes in a new adventure reality series.

I exclusively revealed earlier this year that the Gavin & Stacey actor would be at the helm of the new BBC format, which sees participants head on a road trip of a lifetime – with no idea of where they are.

Rob Brydon will helm new BBC series Destination X[/caption]

In order to stay in Destination X, which is expected to hit screens in 2025, players must figure out their mystery location.

Those whose guesses are furthest away get eliminated from the competition.

And the first person to reach the mystery journey’s end will be crowned the winner.

Rob said: “I can’t wait to be the puppet master orchestrating every twist and turn as our contestants are taken on a journey where everything is not as it seems.

“It’s going to be a wild ride.”

COLIN IN PLANE HORROR

SKY has released a first look at new drama Lockerbie, based on the 1988 bombing of Pan Am flight 103.

Colin Firth plays Dr Jim Swire, who became a spokesman for the victims’ families after his daughter Flora was killed in the terrorist attack that brought the plane down over the Scottish town of Lockerbie.

He is joined by Catherine McCormack as wife Jane.

The snap sees King’s Speech actor Colin hold up a piece of paper detailing how the flight “exploded after 38 minutes”.

The drama will follow Swire’s 30-year battle for the truth, including a visit to Libya to meet dictator Colonel Gaddafi who took responsibility for attack that killed all 259 people on board.

Lockerbie: A Search For Truth airs on January 2 on Sky Atlantic and NOW.

KEIRA CALLS THE SHOTS IN SPY THRILLER

KEIRA KNIGHTLEY looks like she’s just fired the fatal shot in this new promo for Netflix thriller Black Doves.

The actress plays Helen Webb, a down-to-earth wife and mother, who is also a spy that has been spilling her politician husband’s secrets to the shadowy Black Doves organisation.

A first look at the six-parter sees her dripping with blood as she sits in the car beside her old friend Sam, played by Ben Whishaw.

He has been called in to keep her safe after the assassination of her lover Jason, played by Peaky Blinders’ Andrew Koji.

And sporting a baby bump clearly isn’t slowing her down from uncovering the truth.

As Helen and Sam set off to find out who killed Jason, they are led into a conspiracy linking London’s criminal underworld to a looming geopolitical crisis.

Overseeing the action is spymaster Reed, played by Happy Valley’s Sarah Lancashire.

The series, which has already been confirmed for a second season, will drop on December 5 on Netflix.

Coldplay in line to break ANOTHER record as they’re set to earn staggering sum from tour in ‘incredible feat’

COLDPLAY are looking to break yet another record – thanks to their Music Of The Spheres tour.

The band’s tenth album Moon Moon went straight to No1 last week, when it became the biggest-selling record by a UK act in three years.

I’m now told that the group, fronted by Chris Martin are on course to become the first UK act to earn more than £1billion by the time they complete their run of gigs next summer.

It’s predicted by Pollstar that Coldplay will smash the record when they perform their ten- night residency at Wembley Stadium.

More than 9million tickets have already been sold for the tour, which started in March 2022 and will kick off again in Melbourne later this month.

A source revealed: “Coldplay will be on course to bank £1billion from their Music Of The Spheres tour, which is an incredible feat. The global demand for their live shows is incredible and they sell out every venue.

“Next month they will set an- other milestone of 10million ticket sales for one tour, which is miles ahead of any other act.

“Given the success of Moon Music, it proves Coldplay’s fanbase is only continuing to grow.”

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is the only run of concerts to have ever banked more, so they are in good company.

The last time I saw the lads in action was at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium last year.

It is still one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, so it’s not hard to see why they are so popular.

Last month Chris confirmed the group, which also features guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion, will only make two more studio records as Coldplay.

Chris told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1: “There’s only 12 and a half Beatles albums.

“There’s about the same Bob Marley, so all of our heroes.

“And also having that limit means the quality control is so high right now, and for a song to make it, it’s almost impossible, which is great.

“And so where we could be kind of coasting, we’re trying to improve.

“If we do something together after that creatively, beyond touring, then it’ll be something different, or it’ll be a side thing, or it’ll be a compilation of things we hadn’t finished.”

CARDI PARTY HANGOVER

CARDI B got an unwelcome birthday present after letting her hair down to celebrate – the mother of all hangovers.

The Wap rapper looked sensational in this black outfit and got behind the bar during her party in New York at the weekend as she turned 32.

But the next day she moaned and cried on Instagram as her wig slipped off her head, sobbing: “I will never ever drink again.”

We’ve all been there. I can see why she needed a drink ahead of the bash though, as she had a wardrobe crisis when her dress didn’t fit.

Deciding she needed to find something fast, she said: “I got my ass in a truck and went to Staten Dolls gentlemen’s club, where I worked at for four years, and bought this little dress because baby NOTHING was gonna stop this night.

“I love the fact that they don’t see me like Cardi B. They still treat me like Camilla (Fun fact, that was my stripper name).”

She’s come a long way, despite the hangovers.

SHAKIRA SHIP SHAPE

SHAKIRA showed she’s still got it when she strutted her stuff in this tasselled bikini in a new video set on a boat.

She dropped the visuals, featuring model Winnie Harlow, to song Soltera on Friday night and they have already racked up more than 9million views.

Despite being more than 30 years into her career, Shakira is smashing records and sold out 13 stadiums for her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour in less than two hours at the weekend.

It will kick off in South America, where she has already added extra dates because of the huge demand.

After seeing her latest video, I’ve no doubt she’ll put on a hell of a show.

JIMI GEM IN ROCK AUCTION

PREVIOUSLY “lost” tapes of unheard music by Jimi Hendrix go under the hammer next month.

Propstore has announced the lot as part of a huge sale of music memorabilia.

A guitar played by Noel Gallagher during Oasis’ early days is also up for sale, as well as Kurt Cobain’s handwritten notes for a video.

Britney Spears’ Baby One More Time tour outfit is on sale, along with the pair of sunglasses George Michael wore at NetAid in 1999.

But Harry Styles fans will need to get saving to get their hands on something.

If they fancy getting their hands on the jumper he wore in the video for One Direction’s You & I, it’s expected to sell for around £1,000.

CHARLI XCX is battling with Paul Heaton for No1 in the album charts.

Her album Brat was pipped to No1 by Taylor Swift in June and she is in another fight after releasing a remix version featuring Ariana Grande and The 1975.

But she has a task on her hands to overtake Paul’s The Mighty Several, which could be his first solo No1 album.

GIRLS ON TOUR TV

IF you missed the biggest UK arena tour of the year from Girls Aloud, you will have a chance to catch it on TV.

ITV has confirmed The Sun’s story from July that a one-hour special called The Girls Aloud Show: Live at The O2 will air later this year on ITV1.

It will give highlights and behind-the-scenes snippets from Cheryl Tweedy, Nicola Roberts, Nadine Coyle and Kimberley Walsh’s hugely successful comeback.

An extended version featuring the full arena tour concert will be available on ITVX.

Kimberley said: “It’s exciting to think that anyone who didn’t manage to see The Girls Aloud Show when we toured the UK is going to have this chance to share it with us now.”

ANDREW IN ‘WITCH’ SPLIT

THE spell has been broken for Andrew Garfield, as he has split from his witch girlfriend.

I kid you not. He has called time on his romance with Dr Kate Tomas, who calls herself a “professional witch”.

BackGrid
Andrew Garfield has split from his witch girlfriend[/caption]

They were pictured on a series of dates earlier this year in New York and London, right, but they have since parted ways.

A source said: “Andrew and Kate were together for quite a few months but things have cooled off lately.

“She previously made a podcast gushing about being in love but she’s now deleted it and wiped all traces of him from social media.”

I’m told they first broke up earlier in the summer but patched things up and put on a show of solidarity when they attended Wimbledon together.

But things fell apart a while after that.

At least she got some tickets to the hottest tournament in town before she lost him for good.

Confirming their split in a comment to a fan on Instagram, Kate said: “We broke up months ago.”

Thankfully, Andrew is busy enough with work to take his mind off things.

But he is currently promoting a romantic comedy, which might not be exactly what he wants to think about.

His new movie We Live In Time – in which he plays the love interest of Florence Pugh’s character – debuted in the US at the weekend but will not be out over here until New Year’s Day.

Andrew hasn’t been particularly lucky in love, despite being a real catch.

He dated Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone for four years until 2015 and has since had short-lived romances with Rita Ora, swimwear model Alyssa Miller and a student named Christine Gabel.

Hopefully it doesn’t take magic for him to meet the right woman.

TOM A SUPER BERO

TOM HOLLAND has gone from superhero Spider-Man to Sober-Man, by launching his own non-alcoholic beer.

He posed for this snap as he took a sip of the tipple, called Bero, which will go on sale tomorrow.

I just hope it actually tastes good.

Queen’s Roger Taylor teases new music from band almost three decades after last album

QUEEN drummer Roger Taylor is in talks with Brian May about putting out new music.

The iconic rock band has not released an album since 1995’s Made In Heaven, following frontman Freddie Mercury’s death in 1991.

Queen drummer Roger Taylor says he is in talks with Brian May about putting out new music

Roger revealed how he and Queen guitarist Brian May recently decided they would release new music if they have good material to use

But in a new interview with Uncut magazine, Roger was asked about new music and said: “I think we might.

Brian and myself were talking the other day, and we both said that if we feel we have some good material, why not?

“We can still play. We can still sing. So I don’t see why not.”

They have been touring as Queen + Adam Lambert since 2011, with their most recent shows together being a tour of Japan in February.

They released a previously unheard Queen song called Face It Alone in October 2022.

It featured Freddie’s original vocals and was thought to be “unsalvageable” before experts cleaned it up.

The band, formed in 1970, has been the subject of various rumours over the years, which Roger poked fun at during the interview.

He said: “There’s a lot of myths. One of them is the bald dwarves at the party in New Orleans with cocaine on their heads.

“It’s rather funny, but it is a myth – I didn’t see any, anyway. But there was a man who moved under meat.

“He lay on a table covered in cold cuts, and when somebody approached the table, he would wobble, and all the meat would move and freak people out.

“I think that’s much stranger than a dwarf with cocaine on his head.”
