Jake Paul in brand new ‘Dog Haus’ business venture as YouTube star prepares for huge showdown with Mike Tyson

The YouTuber-turned-boxer is gearing up to face the former undisputed heavyweight champion in a shock Texas tussle next month.

Paul, 27, is over the moon with the partnership[/caption]

But the 27-year-old hasn’t turned off his entrepreneurial brain during fight camp, inking a partnership with beloved American restaurant Dog Haus to help with the “overall strategic vision of the brand.”

During his recent trip to Dog Haus’s Arlington store, Paul said: “I’m all in.

“I’ve been a fan of Dog Haus for years, and I’m fired up to push the limits and help take this amazing brand to a whole new level.

“I’m jumping in their corner and excited to introduce their food and experience to everyone across the country!”

Dog Haus CEO Michael Montagano is delighted to have The Problem Child on board.

He said: ‘“When a once-in-a-generation talent reaches out and says he wants to work with you, you take notice!”

“Our relationship with Jake really has very little to do with his celebrity.

“It’s about his dynamic personality, relentless drive and the fact that he has revolutionized the way we communicate, all of which align perfectly with our brand’s ethos.

“So this is just the beginning.

“We’re excited to partner with Jake and Nakisa [Bidarian], proven game-changers and promotional geniuses, in taking Dog Haus to an unprecedented level.”

Paul has faced intense criticism for fighting Tyson due to the 31-YEAR age difference between them.

Many believe Tyson, 58, only has a short window in the ten-round affair to pull off a shock upset.

But Paul has warned the fan favourite about being overly aggressive in the early goings of the Dallas dust-up.

He told The Daily Mail: “I mean, it’s just being alert and knowing what to do in that situation.

“I could definitely see him trying to [go for an early KO], but he’ll find out very quickly that I also have a ton of power.

“So doing that with a guy like me isn’t always the smartest thing to do, because I’ll catch one of his shots then counter.”

The case of Sherri Papini was revisited in Hulu’s latest docuseries, Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance Of Sherri Papini, which premiered on June 20, 2024.

Now, Investigation Discovery (ID) has landed the first interview with Papini who became the centre of a controversial news story after she pleaded guilty to orchestrating her own kidnapping.

According to ID, the series, “will feature exclusive interviews with Papini about her disappearance and the subsequent media firestorm and federal investigation that followed.

“The docuseries also will feature unprecedented access to archival footage, legal documents, and court filings as well as extensive interviews with those close to Papini and the investigation — offering new insights and potential answers to the questions that still swirl around this case nearly a decade later.”

According to Variety, the currently untitled ID series will premiere in 2025.

What’s the story?

Sherri Papini, was a married mother of two when she made headlines in 2016 after her disappearance.

Police initially believed she was kidnapped jogging near her home in California before she was found 150 miles away three weeks later.

She left her home on November 2, 2016, to jog along the Old Oregon Trail and Sunrise Drive in Mountain View, California.

Papini’s husband, Keith Papini, reported her missing when she failed to return and pick up her kids from daycare.

Her sister, Sheila Koester, told the Ventura Star, “She was out for a run. She wouldn’t leave her babies.”

Her family set up a GoFundMe in the hope it would help return her to them, when on Thanksgiving Day that year, she was found bound and gagged on the side of Interstate 5, about 150 miles from her home.

Who is Sherri Papini?

A mystery donor initially offered a $50k ransom for Papini’s safe return which doubled to $100k but the offer was pulled the day before police found Papini.

When Papini was found on the side of Highway 5, she said she had been thrown from a dark-colored SUV and described two armed Hispanic women who spoke only Spanish and played mariachi music while they allegedly tortured her.

Keith shared his horror at seeing his wife’s serious injuries which extended to bruises covering her body, and she was covered in blood and branded.

Shortly after returning to their home in Redding, California, Sherri and her family moved to an undisclosed location, claiming it was too difficult to stay in their house following the ordeal.

Was Sherri Papini’s kidnapping a hoax?

After a thorough investigation, Papini was arrested on March 3, 2022, after police said they discovered she had faked her 22-day abduction.

She was then charged with lying to federal agents and defrauding the state’s victim compensation board of $30k.

Authorities said Papini had not disappeared – instead, she was staying with a former boyfriend nearly 600 miles away from her Orange County home and hurt herself to back up her false claims.

“Ultimately, the investigation revealed that there was no kidnapping and that time and resources that could have been used to investigate actual crime, protect the community, and provide resources to victims were wasted,” US Attorney Phillip Talbert said in a statement.

The California mom-of-two said she was taken by two Hispanic women back in 2016 but police reported they found a man’s DNA was found on her clothes.

Shasta County Sheriff’s Office revealed that in the lead-up to her disappearance, Sherri exchanged text messages with a man in Michigan and when they visited the man’s home, he allegedly told police everything.

Police said the unnamed man told them he was Papini’s ex-boyfriend and she called him to help her escape.

He claimed that he was led to believe she was being abused by her husband and after receiving the call, he claimed he drove to pick her up and bring her back to his home in Southern California.

Papini allegedly asked her ex-boyfriend to help cause some of her injuries, including driving to Hobby Lobby to pick up a wood-burning tool which she then asked him to use to brand herself.

According to the affidavit, Papini also chopped off her hair and ate minimal amounts of food to lose weight.

Police said they corroborated her ex-boyfriend’s story through phone records, his work schedule, rental car receipts, odometer records, toll records, and an interview with his cousin, who says they saw Papini in the home.

When investigators questioned Papini, she stuck to her story but was handcuffed in front of her two children and brought to jail which her family had said was an “ambush.”

Was Sherri Papini convicted?

Papini was charged on April 12, 2022, with 34 counts of mail fraud and one count of making false statements to police.

She pleaded guilty to one count of mail fraud and one count of making false statements and was convicted on September 19.

Papini was sentenced to 18 months in prison to deter other individuals from committing a similar crime. She was also required to pay $309,902 in restitution, but the judge said there was little chance Papini would be able to repay the amount.

“Let’s be realistic about it,” the judge said. “That restitution is never going to be paid. That $300,000 she’s going to be ordered to pay will never be paid unless she wins the lottery.”

But he said the charges are meant to stop would-be copycats.

I am guilty of lying and dishonor.

Sherri Papini

After she was sentenced, Papini told the court: “I stand before you humbled by the court. I’m so sorry to the many people who have suffered because of me. I thank you all.”

She continued: “I am guilty of lying and dishonor. I trust in this court … and I trust in you. What was done cannot be undone. I am choosing to humbly accept all responsibility.”

Papini reported to prison to serve her 18-month sentence on November 8, 2022.

However, she was released from prison in August 2023 — six months early.

Following Papini’s arrest, her husband filed for divorce, saying he was “traumatized” by the events.

Where is Sherri Papini now?

Papini was released from prison in August 2023 and transferred to a residential reentry facility in Sacramento County, Calif.

On October 23, 2023, Papini appeared in court teary-eyed to demand a portion of her ex-husband‘s insurance payout after his California home was impacted by a wildfire in 2021, the New York Post reported.

Papini argued that she was entitled to a portion of the payout.

When questioned, Keith revealed the money was gone stating the money was used for living expenses.

Additionally, he used the payout to pay his mother a $500 monthly allowance who was housing him and his family after the impact.

When it was Keith’s turn to speak, he revealed Papini had racked up a significant credit card debt.

I don’t make contact with her at all. And I don’t even allow it

keith PapiniPEOPLE

According to the Daily Mail, Papini allegedly made a $3,200 purchase at Best Buy.

Papini repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment when asked about her large purchases.

On June 6, 2024, People reported that Sherri was writing books according to notes kept by a monitor supervising her with her children.

According to a supervised visitation report from January 17, 2024, Sherri told her child that she was writing two books.

She said, “Do you know what an author is? Mommy’s also an author now. She’s writing two books.

“I work lots of hours to write chapter books. So, when I tell you I’m working remotely, that means I’m at home writing chapters on my laptop.”

Keith told PEOPLE in 2024 that he and Papini have not spoken outside of court or mediation.

He said: “I don’t make contact with her at all. And I don’t even allow it”.

“She’s tried but I just can’t.

“That is her power, her voice, and her manipulation.”

In addition to scheduled visitation with the children, Keith said that Tyler and Violet speak with Papini over the phone.

Allegedly, Papini now lives in northern California with her new boyfriend.

‘Switching over’ – UFC champ Tom Aspinall eyes WWE move after retiring from MMA in big career change as Jon Jones looms

TOM ASPINALL wants to cross over into the WWE after he’s finished conquering the mixed martial arts world.

The Wigan warrior is on the cusp of becoming the UFC’s heavyweight champion and currently holds the interim version of the title.

Aspinall took part in a heated staredown with WWE heavyweight champ Gunther[/caption]

A unification bout against the winner of undisputed titleholder Jon Jones‘ showdown with Stipe Miocic next month awaits the fan favourite.

Aspinall, 31, is adamant he’ll eventually reach the summit of the heavyweight mountain, although he doesn’t want to hang around for too long and become a relic of the sport.

And the Atherton Assassin is open to swapping the Octagon for the WWE ring once he brings the curtain down on what has already been a stellar career.

Speaking to SunSport at WWE Live in Manchester, he said: “When I have retired from MMA, I’m switching over to WWE.

“And I’m going to be the WWE heavyweight champ.”

Aspinall, who had one of the best seats in the house for Wednesday’s show, certainly has the stature and strength of a potential WWE superstar.

The UK’s third UFC champ stands at 6’5 and weighed a whopping 18 stone for his July demolition job of Curtis Blaydes.

And he didn’t look out of place as he entered the ring and showed off his heavyweight hardware in front of a raucous crowd at the Co-op Live Arena following Cody Rhodes‘ shock introduction.

He also cut an impressive promo after being interrupted by WWE heavyweight champ Gunther, who received a chorus of booes for cutting off the local lad.

There is a path for Aspinall to enter the WWE as wrestling‘s premier promotion is under the same banner as the UFC.

The UFC joined forces with the WWE last year to form the TKO Group, which, as of last September, was valued at £16BILLION ($21.4B).

But his transition to the world of pro wrestling won’t happen until after he cements his legacy as the greatest heavyweight of all time.

A short-notice crack at the undisputed title could come Aspinall’s way if either Jones or Miocic are forced out of their rescheduled battle of legends.

Dana White and Co. have made him the official backup fighter for UFC’s 309 main event at Madison Square Garden.

Aspinall has made no secret of his desire to share the cage with Jones, saying after UFC 304: ” “I have nothing against Jon Jones as a person.

“But I think I’m the best heavyweight in the world. And if he thinks he’s the best heavyweight, then let’s settle it.

“It’s as simple as that, it’s not rocket science.

“There are two guys claiming to be the best heavyweight in the world. Let’s settle it.”

He added: “I’m the best heavyweight in the world. Prove me wrong, Jon. If you think you are, prove me wrong. It’s simple.”

How boxing legend played by Sydney Sweeney beat cocaine addiction before surviving murder attempt by vicious hubby

WITH a bullet lodged three inches from her heart and several stab wounds, boxing champ Christy Martin lay on the floor and prepared to throw in the towel.

But then a voice in her head said it was not her time to die just yet.

Sydney Sweeney will play Christy in a film about her life[/caption]

Showing incredible strength and de- fiance against her monstrous husband Jim Martin, who had just tried to kill her, Christy dragged herself outside, where a passing stranger took her to hospital.

Now, 14 years on, the woman who made female boxing mainstream, fought as the undercard to Mike Tyson and was the first female slugger to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated, is being played by Sydney Sweeney in a movie about her life.

This week, the actress was unrecognisable during filming on location in North Carolina.

The as yet untitled flick will show how the fighter from small- town West Virginia took the sporting world by storm, earning more than £3million during 35 undefeated bouts, only to lose herself in domestic violence and drugs.

Christy, now 56 and happily married to a woman having divorced violent former manager Jim, is keen to make one thing clear: “It is not a boxing movie.”

She said in an exclusive interview: “That was the main thing I wanted to stress when I met the producers.

‘Not born to box’

“This is the underdog story. It’s about domestic violence, sexuality and sexual abuse.

“I’m a coal miner’s daughter from a small town and no one expected I would make it. And at the same time, I had all these other things happening in my life.

“I hope it’s a movie that, in ten years, a father will sit down with his daughter and say, ‘These are the things I don’t ever want you to endure. I don’t ever want you pushed into a relationship’.

“I want parents to watch it then say to their children, ‘If you’re gay, we will love you no matter what’.

“I want people to know that to be a professional boxer, you don’t have to sell your soul to the devil. It’s a complex story and I hope it’s got a lot to say to lots of different people.”

It was November 2010 when Christy, following years in an abusive marriage, finally plucked up the courage to walk out the door.

Enraged Jim stabbed his wife multiple times in the chest and shot her once with her own pink revolver.

The bullet narrowly missed her heart and her leg was cut almost to the bone.

But in a heroic effort, she managed to escape and flag down help.

Anyone But You actress Sydney, 27, signed up to play Christy despite — or perhaps because of — being famed for racy TV shows, rom coms and horror movies until now.

Both women hail from unfashionable US towns. Sweeney is from Spokane, Washington, while Christy grew up in Mullens, West Virginia.

But while the Hollywood star, who set pulses racing in Euphoria and White Lotus, is engaged to producer Jonathan Davino, Christy spent much of her life hiding her sexuality.

Heterosexual actors playing gay roles has proved controversial in the past.

Sydney coming onboard is huge. I met her over a Zoom call the other day. She has a mixed martial arts background, so she understands combat sports. It’s not exactly the same, but she understands the mentality

Christy

But Christy said: “I wasn’t worried that a straight person would be playing the part.

“I was more concerned how she would feel portraying a gay person. I think she will do fine. It’s acting, so you get to be whoever you want, straight or gay.

“Too much is put on that stuff. Let’s just be us and whatever happens, happens.”

She added: “Sydney coming on board is huge. I met her over a Zoom call the other day. She has a mixed martial arts background, so she understands combat sports. It’s not exactly the same, but she understands the mentality.

“I watched her in Anyone But You and I liked her. It will be interesting seeing her being me and I’m excited.

“Sydney is an A-lister. If you ask a young guy who she is, they know her, so I think she’s pretty cool.”

Christy first boxed in college, aged 18, when she was secretly dating a woman.

Raised in America’s devoutly religious Rust Belt, her parents would not have approved and fighting was an escape.

At her current home in Austin, Texas, Christy said: “I was definitely not born to box.

“I accidentally stumbled into boxing while I was in college. I thought it would be a great challenge and I got hooked.

“My mother wasn’t happy about it and my dad said, ‘If you are going to do it, get trained and don’t get hurt’. I trained very hard.

“I think the instinct to go for a knockout came from the emotional turmoil within me. I knew I was gay and I knew it wasn’t going to be accepted.

“My family was very religious. When I was six, an older cousin sexually molested me and I didn’t tell anyone because I was scared. I had a lot of internal turmoil and, when you get into the boxing ring, you can be aggressive and violent and that is acceptable.

“But to learn the skills I had to spend hours in the gym on hand pads trying to improve my hook and jab. I had to work really hard. Nothing came easy for me.”

‘Prayed to survive’

The sporting star was 22 when she met Jim, who was 25 years her senior.

They married in 1991, at a time when she was becoming a household name, on a run of 35 consecutive fights undefeated and appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1996.

The same year, she fought on the undercard to heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson in a bout promoted by Don King.

Boxing brought unimaginable riches and she estimates she made around $4million in a career that stretched from 1989 to 2012, and saw her win the WBC female super-welterweight title in 2009.

Meanwhile, her troubled personal life ended up bringing nothing but pain.

She said: “Jim controlled every move I made and every person I spoke with. I was his ATM machine, his only source of income, and he isolated me.

“I tried to love him and be happy, but he knew I had feelings for women and he would threaten to expose me. It was not easy to be accepted as a female boxer, and I was always worried my fans would turn against me if they found out I was gay.”

In 2007, she began using cocaine to escape the misery and it took her three years to kick the habit.

She said: “My husband was supplying me with coke and I was snorting it. Before I even got out of bed in the morning, he would bring a line to me. If I complained I was tired after the gym, he would crush up a line before I had the chance to take my gloves off. I would be up for days — coke, coke, coke — and I was drinking a lot of beer. I wouldn’t even leave the house because I was afraid someone would see me high.

“I’m lucky I didn’t die. I looked in the mirror one night and thought, you look like an addict.

When I lay down, I was ready to die

Christy on night Jim tried to kill her

“And I had to accept, you don’t look like an addict, you are an addict.

“It took me a couple of days to get clean, but I had to realise, this is not who I am.”

Christy’s husband had always vowed he would kill her if she left him.

And in 2010, when she finally plucked up the courage to walk out of his life, he attempted to make good on his word.

Having found the strength to fight back from the brink, Christy now lives with fellow former boxer Lisa Holewyne, 58, who she fought in Las Vegas in 2001 and married 16 years later.

Christy said of the night Jim tried to kill her: “When I lay down, I was ready to die.

“But at some point during the attack, I told him, ‘You can’t kill me’, and I prayed to survive.

“I believe God had a plan for me, which must be talking about domestic violence and stopping others from going down that path.

“And I hope my ex spends every day of his life in jail.

“If he ever gets out, I am convinced he will kill me and, who knows, he might. I still look over my shoulder sometimes. He always told me, ‘If I can’t kill you, I will find someone that will’.

“I get the occasional message from someone who has been in jail with him, and that shakes me up a bit.”
