I died TWICE, lost my job & had to sell my home…then thought I won £500k in EuroMillions – until my luck got even BETTER

A MUM-of-three who “died twice” and was left penniless saw her luck dramatically change after winning big on the National Lottery.

Desirée Home, from Tunbridge Wells, said she’d “hit rock bottom” after she was forced to move into a mobile home while battling stage 3 bowel cancer.

She was diagnosed when she was 50 and needed invasive surgery and heavy bouts of chemotherapy, and described the following seven years as a “catalogue of horror”.

Desirée told Kent Online: “During my treatment, I ‘died’ twice from respiratory failure in the hospital and spent 11 days in ICU, halfway through chemo and unrelated to the cancer, I developed Cauda Equina Syndrome which required further surgery and to top it all, my husband and I lost our jobs.”

”With absolutely no money and mounting debts we had no choice but to sell our forever home and move away into a small mobile home, splitting up our family. I think you can safely say, we’d hit rock bottom. And then it all changed,” she said.

Then one day, while she was recovering at home, her husband Wayne called with the news that they had won £500,000 on the EuroMillions Lottery.

As if that wasn’t enough of a shock, he then called back to tell her that he’d got the numbers wrong – they’d actually won £1million.

EuroMillions winner loses out on whopping £1million lottery jackpot after making HUGE blunder

By Karim Camara

LOTTO bosses have revealed that a EuroMillions winner lost out on a whopping £1million jackpot after they made a huge blunder.

Allwyn, the operator of The National Lottery, confirmed that the £1,000,000 prize from the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker draw on April 16, 2024, has gone unclaimed for over 180 days since the draw.

The ticket holder bought their EuroMillions ticket in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

However, they missed the deadline to claim the prize, which was at midnight on October 13.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said: “Unfortunately, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize and has now sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money.

“However, the money will now add to the £30M raised each week for National Lottery-funded projects.”

Experts had previously warned lottery fans not to make a stupid mistake to risk losing out on mega jackpots.

Earlier this year, a lucky Brit hit bagged an eye-watering £12.6million.

Yet the winner still hasn’t claimed their huge cash prize.

She said that she can remember the moment “as clear as if it were yesterday” and said the money was a lifeline to rebuilding their lives.

“The phrase ‘you couldn’t write it’ springs to mind. I was standing on the bow of a boat spraying Champagne and holding a cheque with our names and a million pounds written on it, when just weeks before I had been juggling the sums and desperately trying to stay stress-free to aid my recovery,” she recalled.

Desirée and ex-submariner Wayne were finally able to treat their kids to incredible experiences like snorkelling in the Maldives.

Her tale of loss and luck inspired her to write a memoir about her life story.

She said she finally had the headspace to write after the cash injection aided the financial burden on their shoulders.

Her book, And then: One woman’s real-life story, from cancer diagnosis to losing the family home and then… a £1 million Lottery win, is on Amazon as a Kindle edition.

Kremlin rushes out unprecedented statement insisting Putin does NOT have health issues as Vlad reveals he’s seeing docs

THE Kremlin has rushed to deny claims that Vladimir Putin’s health is failing in an unprecedented move.

It comes after the Russian president who is now 72-years-old admitted in a televised meeting that he has been regularly undergoing medical examinations at a top hospital in Moscow.

“Doctors at the Central Clinical Hospital, where I undergo all sorts of regular examinations, also recommend getting vaccinated with domestically produced drugs,” Putin said.

Also part of the meeting was Russia‘s health minister Mikhail Murashko who supported his boss’s calls for people to get vaccinations.

However, attention was quickly drawn to the dictator’s comments after years of speculation about his health.

Putin’s aides quickly quashed any concerns surrounding the President’s condition.

The Russian leader “has no health problems” state news agency TASS insisted while reiterating that Putin’s medical visits were routine appointments.

“He meant routine medical examinations,” Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.

Rumours about Putin’s health have swirled for years after the president’s “strongman” image took a hit due to dramatic changes in his appearance.

He has been seen looking exhausted, out of breath, having difficulty walking, and pulling bizarre gurning faces.

There have also been times when Putin appeared to be in some kind of pain as he strongly gripped tables while in meetings, sparking rumours of Parkinson’s.

Around the same time in 2022, experts started noting his “bloated” and “weakened” appearance with some claiming he could have had thyroid cancer.

It was initially suggested that Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine on February 24 may have been sparked by his failing physical condition.

The leader’s strict isolation rules during the Pandemic also sparked ideas that the dictator who started spending long periods in isolation had been worried about catching Covid while undergoing some form of treatment.

At the tail end of the pandemic when restrictions were being lifted across the world, Putin’s abnormally large meeting table for public appearances was widely mocked and continued to generate concern.

Most recently, footage emerged of the leader appearing to scratch at his face during another televised meeting on Wednesday.

Putin's rumoured health issues

DESPITE Putin's cultivation of himself as an “action man” - questions have long been raised over his health.

The leader’s facial features have been seen changing over time, according to reports and could lead to possible signs of a serious disease plaguing Putin.

Parkinson rumours have been thrown towards the Russian president as well as pancreatic cancer after bombshell documents were shown to The Sun.

A persisting tale is that scores of Putin lookalikes – who have undergone years of painful plastic surgery – are ruthlessly trained by the FSB and kept under “constant surveillance”.

Based on the day-to-day shifting nature of Vlad’s face and strange changes in his behaviour, commentators have alleged these stand-ins frequently attend public appearances, walkabouts and meetings.

Alongside all of this, some other tell-tale signs have loomed over him for years.

He is regularly seen twitching on his public sightings and is unsteady on his feet, and out of breath on occasion.

Mad Vlad has been seen clutching a thick blanket while watching a parade in 2022 and was even seen swaying and slurring as he spoke with a glass of champagne in his hand.

But his alleged health issues hit a new low after it emerged that he apparently soiled himself during a fall at his home.

Putin has been pictured with suspected track marks from IV treatment on the back of his hand – amid rumours he may have been suffering from other forms of cancer as well, including stomach cancer.

The ageing president is also followed around by a huge team of doctors who reportedly chaperone him on all of his trips in case of a medical emergency.

It is rumoured that he has undergone repeated botox treatments which could have caused itchiness.

‘A MYSTERY TO ALL’

The Sun has previously been told by experts and doctors that there is no doubt that his health has deteriorated.

Rumours have even swirled that the despot has a body double as he attempts to cling to power for as long as possible.

“If you watch Putin closely, it’s hard to avoid the suspicion that often some of the appearances you’re seeing are not, in fact, the same person,” Keir Giles, Russia expert at Chatham Hous previously told The Sun.

“You also notice the trends in his health over time. His health does seem to improve and deteriorate in different public appearances.

“There are some times when he looks really quite frail, bloated, puffy, shaking, having to grip onto the table and only giving very short five-minute speeches even on major public events.

“And then there are times when he appears to bounce back as a much healthier individual who is standing up and speaking for 40 minutes.

“But what is actually wrong with him is a mystery to us all.”

However, the despot appears to have no intention of slowing down as he continues to lead the nation and its attack on Ukraine.

In March, the ageing leader won the rigged election to see him continue his reign until 2030 when he will turn 77.

“Which made my head massive by the way, it was the coolest thing ever.

Gerlach, 18, died at the scene while Brendan Hagan, 22, and woman, 44, were rushed to the hospital, as reported by the NBC affiliate WAVE-TV.

Shots were fired at the Harvest Homecoming as an argument between two groups turned violent.

Cops believe Gerlach and the two injured people simply just got caught up in the incident as it unfolded.

His family said the teen was the victim of a “senseless crime,” according to his obituary.

Cops revealed they were hunting for men thought to be in their 20s.

One of the men was sporting a red hoodie and had dreadlocks, according to police.

Gerlach’s pals have told how the football star shielded members of his group.

“It was very selfless what he did, and I’m thankful he went out in such a heroic way, so that’s how people remember him because that’s what he was,” Tanner Chumbly, a friend, told WAVE.

“He was a hero.”

Meanwhile, Trent Clark, who played with Gerlach’s younger brother, described the football player as a humble guy.

Gerlach played football for Corydon Central High School, and his coach led the tributes.

Luke Keller hailed the star’s leadership qualities, as reported by the Louisville Courier-Journal.

Gerlach was a versatile athlete and played different positions, including kicker and punter.

Footage shared on social media showed Gerlach in action in what turned out to be his final football game.

Keller revealed the senior had plans to continue playing the game at college.

Gerlach also had a passion for soccer and enjoyed being the goalkeeper, per the obit.

TRIBUTES PAID

He also wanted to follow in his sister’s footsteps, who played sports while in college.

Away from the sports field, Gerlach enjoyed driving in his blue truck and socializing with friends and family.

Tributes have been paid online to the high schooler.

Elementary school teacher Shellie Zabel described Gerlach as a “special kid.”

“He had a passion for soccer and living life to the fullest,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

“Bryce taught me a lot as a teacher as all of my current and past students do.”

She recalled that the sports-mad child used to read football magazines in her class.

“I told him I didn’t care because I just wanted him to learn to love to read,” she wrote.

Students at Corydon Central High left flowers where Gerlach used to park his car.

Almost 2,000 people attended a vigil in the football star’s honor.

The Corydon football team will take to the field on Friday, and fans have been asked to wear blue, Gerlach’s favorite color.
