Asda shoppers rush to buy cosy autumn homeware scanning for £2 instead of £21

ASDA shoppers are rushing to the supermarket to buy a cosy homeware item that’s scanning at tills for £2 instead of £21.

An eagle-eyed customer spotted the deal at their local store and shared it with others on social media.

The customer shared their find on the Extreme Coupon and Bargains group[/caption]

They took to the Extreme Coupon and Bargains Facebook group to share the find.

The savvy supermarket shopper revealed how they nabbed a George easy care duvet set with two pillowcases for just £2 with the original price £21.

The post read: “Bargain of the day king size winter bedding, only £2!”

Many users tagged their friends and family to alert them of the incredible savings.

Another user commented: “I got this too, it’s beautiful.”

If you’re keen to get one of the discounted duvets, it could be worth calling your local Asda store to see if they have what you’re looking for in stock.

You can find your nearest store by using the locator tool on the supermarket’s website.

Do bear in mind too that when prices are reduced by this much it’s usually in order for stores to clear excess stock, so availability will vary from store to store.

Other George Home Duvet Sets in King size are still going for at least £21 online.

It’s always best to phone ahead to your local shop to check what they have available to avoid disappointment.

It always pays to compare prices so you know you’re getting the best deal.

Prices can also vary day to day and by what deals are on at the time, plus remember you might pay for delivery if you’re ordering online.

You can compare prices on platforms like Google Shopping.

Just type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.

Price Spy also logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets.

Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.

Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers.

All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.

CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon.

To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.

How to save at Asda

Shop the budget range

Savvy shopper Eilish Stout-Cairns recommends that shoppers grab items from Asda’s Just Essentials range.

She said: “Asda’s budget range is easy to spot as it’s bright yellow! Keep your eyes peeled for yellow and you’ll find their Just Essentials range.

“It’s great value and I’ve found it has a much wider selection of budget items compared to other supermarkets.

 Sign up to Asda Rewards

The savvy-saver also presses on the importance of signing up to Asda’s reward scheme.

She said: “Asda Rewards is free to join and if you shop at Asda you should absolutely sign up.

“As an Asda Rewards member, you’ll get exclusive discounts and offers, and you’ll also be able to earn 10% cashback on Star Products.

“This will go straight into your cashpot, and once you’ve earned at least £1, you can transfer the money in your cashpot into ASDA vouchers.

We’ve previously rounded up the best supermarket loyalty schemes – including the ones that will save you the most money.

Look out for booze deals

Eilish always suggests that shoppers looking to buy booze look out for bargain deals.

She said: “Asda often has an alcohol offer on: buy six bottles and save 25%.

“The offer includes selected bottles with red, white and rose options, as well as prosecco. There are usually lots of popular bottles included, for example, Oyster Bay Hawkes Bay Merlot, Oyster Bay Hawkes Bay Merlot and Freixenet Prosecco D.O.C.

“Obviously, the more expensive the bottles you choose, the more you save.”

Join Facebook groups

The savvy saver also recommends that fans of Asda join Facebook groups to keep in the know about the latest bargains in-store.

Eilish said: “I recommend joining the Latest Deals Facebook Group to find out about the latest deals and new launches in store.

“Every day, more than 250,000 deal hunters share their latest bargain finds and new releases.

“For example, recently a member shared a picture of Asda’s new Barbie range spotted in store.

“Another member shared the bargain outdoor plants she picked up, including roses for 47p, blackcurrant bushes for 14p and topiary trees for 14p.”

Tragic Sara Sharif had fractures to 25 parts of her body which could not be accidental, murder trial was told

TRAGIC Sara Sharif had fractures to 25 parts of her body which could not be accidental, her murder trial was told yesterday.

They were likely caused by weeks of blunt force trauma, an expert said.

A broken hyoid bone in the ten-year-old’s neck was likely to have been due to manual strangulation, it was alleged.

Radiologist Prof Owen Arthurs said the fractures could not be explained as an accident.

He said: “Many fractures can occur accidentally and many fractures can occur from a single event.

“But my opinion was that they were very unusual and cannot be explained by accidental mechanisms nor can they be explained by any single high impact trauma event.

“My opinion for the most likely explanation for the constellation of injuries are multiple episodes of blunt force trauma inflicted over several weeks.”

And he said some of her fractures were extremely rare.

He told jurors: “Scapular fractures are very rare in children.

“There are big muscles in place and it also moves. It is quite difficult to fracture your scapular in a sporting injury or anything like that.

“These are almost certainly caused by direct blunt force trauma to the body.

“I can’t think of an accidental way whereby you would fracture both scapulars at the same time.

“I haven’t ever seen a hyoid fracture in a child even in those when we have a history of ligature strangulation.

“Presence of hyoid fracture suggests severe neck compression. The most likely cause here is manual strangulation.”

X-ray images of the different fractures were shown in court and jurors heard estimations of when each injury occurred – ranging from less than 10 days to 12 weeks before Sara’s death.

A post-mortem examination found ten spinal fractures and others to Sara’s collar bone, shoulder blades, both arms, both hands, three fingers, both wrists and two ribs.

Dad Urfan, 42, stepmum Beinash Batool, 30, and uncle Faisal Malik, 29, all of Woking, Surrey, deny murder and causing or allowing a child’s death.

The trial at the Old Bailey continues.

“It’s been a tough few years for them,” she added.

Derek died at 56 in January after a lengthy Covid battle.

Kate recently opened up on her first wedding anniversary without Derek following.

The Good Morning Britain star emotionally told The Sun how the special day went following Derek’s passing in January.

Kate appeared at this year’s National Television Awards as she and her children Darcey and Billy collected the gong for Derek’s Story, which followed the final year of his life.

It came just a day after Kate marked what would have been her 20th wedding anniversary to the late political adviser.

She said: “I think everyone says the first year is the hardest, I don’t know if that would be the case, but you do have all the milestones that really trigger memories and that one I found personally very difficult.

“Because, whereas Easter, the kids’ birthdays, we’re very sad with him not with us, that would have been made all about the whole family when he was alive, whereas in this instance it felt like a very personal day between him and I.”

Incredible time lapse video shows woman, 29, SKIP her way to staggering 15 stone weight loss goal

AN incredible time lapse video shows how a woman skipped her way to a staggering 15 stone weight loss.

Jeanine Raine, 29, used to weigh in at 213kg and knew she wanted things to change.

Jeanine Raine before losing around 95kg in weight[/caption]

She could barely make the short walk to the mailbox at her heaviest in what was a huge wake up call.

So in 2022 she decided she was going to lose some weight and started skipping rope.

Two years later and she is lighter – and happier – than ever, having also adjusted her diet.

Jeanine says when first attempted skipping she couldn’t even complete one jump.

But her nostalgic love for the childhood exercise pushed her to keep trying and she now works out by skipping rope five or six times a week.

She enjoys working on new tricks and says she feels more strong, confident and empowered than ever.

Jeanine has lost 95kg in total since she started working out regularly.

Jeanine, a special education teacher from Long Island, New York, said: “Jump roping was something I loved as a kid, so it was natural for me to gravitate toward it.

“I wanted to find a form of cardio that didn’t feel like a chore, and jump roping fit perfectly.

“It brings me joy and nostalgia, reminding me of my childhood.

“Plus, it’s incredibly effective for burning calories, toning, and building endurance.”

Jeanine decided to make a change in 2022 as she did not feel good about her health or herself.

She said: “I started my weight loss journey because I wanted to take control of my health and feel better in my own body.

“At my heaviest, I weighed 470lbs, and I knew I needed to make a change.

“Along with focusing on exercise, I’ve completely transformed my eating habits.

“I now focus on whole, nutritious meals and love meal prepping to stay on track.”

She added: “Instead of high-calorie indulgences like the ice cream I used to eat, I now enjoy healthier options like sorbets.

“I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it naturally, without relying on surgeries or medications.

“Now, two years later, I’ve lost 210 lbs, and it feels incredible to share this journey with others and inspire them to pursue their goals, too.”

It comes as two mums became firm friends after losing an incredible 28 stone between them.

Christine Robinson-Lloyd, 55, shed 10st, dropping from 21.5st and a dress size 34 to 11st and a slinky size 12.

The two women, who did not know each other previously, spotted each other’s recipes on Instagram and began chatting.

Realising their journeys were uncannily similar, they have become best pals, supporting and motivating each other through their battles with food.

We also recently looked at nine ways to feel full without eating more that will help you lose weight and live longer.

What a balanced plate looks like

How can you make sure you are eating a balanced, filling and nutritious plate at every meal?

Think of your plate divided into different food groups – protein, carbs, fat and fruit and veg.

Protein: David Wiener, training and nutrition specialist at AI-based lifestyle and coaching app Freeletics, told The Sun: “Aim for one to two palm-size portions of lean protein in each meal.”

Protein includes meat (chicken, turkey, pork, beef), beans, peas, lentils and fish.

The NHS Eatwell Guide says to choose lean cuts of meat and mince, and eat less red and processed meat like bacon, ham and sausages.

Aim for at least two portions (two x 140g) of fish every week, one of which should be oily, such as salmon, sardines or mackerel.

Carbs: Carbohydrates should make up about a third of your plate, or a fist-sized portion.

The Eatwell Guide says: “Choose higher fibre or wholegrain varieties, such as wholewheat pasta and brown rice, or simply leave the skins on potatoes.

“There are also higher fibre versions of white bread and pasta.

“Starchy foods are a good source of energy and the main source of a range of nutrients in our diet.”

Fat: Generally the advice is to think of fat like a thumb-sized amount on your plate.

The Eatwell Guide says: “Remember all types of fat are high in energy and should be eaten in small amounts.

“These foods include chocolate, cakes, biscuits, sugary soft drinks, butter, ghee and ice cream.

“They’re not needed in our diet, so should be eaten less often and in smaller amounts.”

But a small amount is still essential for the diet. Try and eat more unsaturated fats (avocado, nuts, olive oil), which are healthier than saturated fats (butter, hard cheese, sour cream).

Fruit and veg: David says: “Make sure you also get lots of colourful fruit and vegetable carbohydrates too.

“Aim for at least five of these portions a day.

“One to two fist-sized portions of fruits and vegetables with every meal is generally recommended.”

Fruit and veg can be fresh, frozen, tinned or dried. You can roast, boil, steam or grill veggies.

Boohoo boss quits ailing fashion firm as it explores a break-up of its brands

THE boss of Boohoo is stepping down as the online retailer explores a break-up of its fashion brands.

John Lyttle joined from Primark five years ago when Boohoo was valued at £3billion and one of the fastest-growing names in retail.

John Lyttle is stepping down as Boohoo explores a break-up of its fashion brands[/caption]

He would have bagged a £50million bonus had Boohoo’s valuation doubled, but it has tanked to just £371million.

Over the past five years Boohoo has been rocked by a worker exploitation scandal in Leicester, a sharp slump in growth since Covid restrictions ended, higher costs and rising competition from Chinese rival Shein.

Boohoo is exploring options for all its divisions including PrettyLittleThing, Nasty Gal, Karen Millen and Debenhams.

The company said it wanted to “maximise shareholder value” which could mean selling off parts of the business.

Analysts at Peel Hunt suggested that Karen Millen is “at least a £300million brand” — almost as much as the entire company.

A break-up is likely to attract interest from the retail tycoon Mike Ashley, who has already built up a 26 per cent stake in Boohoo.

Mr Ashley lost £180million when Debenhams went bust five years ago and his attempt to buy the department store out of bankruptcy was thwarted by Boohoo.

Industry sources said the tycoon would like to settle the score, but reckoned he would be unlikely to be willing to pay what Boohoo was asking.

SHOP SALES UP

RETAIL sales rose by 0.3 per cent last month — beating predictions of a 0.3 per cent fall.

The Office for National Statistics said technology products were the biggest driver — helped by Apple’s new iPhone and students buying laptops for the new term.

Supermarkets were hit by a sales drop as consumers cut luxury food.

BUDGET FEARS

A RECORD number of companies are at risk of collapse if taxes on employers increase in the Budget.

More than 630,000 firms are in significant financial distress, says consultancy Begbies Traynor’s report.

Julie Palmer, partner at the firm, said the knock-on effect of higher taxes could be damaging for many “teetering on the edge of collapse”.

GOOD WEEK: JOHN O’Reilly, boss of Rank Group, which reported a boost in sales as punters flocked back to bingo halls and casinos.

BAD WEEK: LAURENT Freixe, new boss of Nestle, after the food giant had to cut its growth outlook amid slowing sales.

Cosied up next to Khaled, she blurted out, “Martha, let me suck your toe,” to which the NHS administrator replied: “No way, that is minging!”

Khaled joked, “She will though,” before Sarah manoeuvred her leg in the Chinese takeaway worker’s direction.

Martha cried: “Lily, no, oh no Lily,” as she did the deed.

She added afterwards: “Oh Lily, I’m so sorry. That is so disgusting.”

Marcello set his toe-sucking price at £8,000 as Lily playfully stuck her foot out of the water, teasing her co-stars to take the offer.

She then turned to Thomas, but he quickly declined her advance.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one wrote: “Sucking toes.. wiping bogeys on people.. Lily is weird i’m sorry.”

Someone else added: “Lily sucking Martha’s toe. I CANNOT DO THIS ANYMORE.”

A third said: “Lily actually sucked Martha’s toe and then asks people to suck her toe.”

One more fumed: “I need Lily gone next week she is so grim with all her screeching and toe sucking.”

It’s not the first time show fans have been left “disgusted” with Lily’s antics.

They previously watched on as she picked her nose and ate her bogeys.

The Warrington-native had been up for eviction tonight, but it was climate activist Daze who was revealed to have received the least amount of votes.

Ali and Martha had also been up for the boot.

Iconic beauty retailer set to open 200 more locations as brand looks to compete with top rival Sephora

AN ICONIC beauty supply store is set to open more than 200 locations across the US to compete with its top rival Sephora.

On Wednesday, Ulta Beauty announced its expansion plans for “2026 and beyond”.

The retail giant hopes net sales will grow from 4% to 6% as a result.

Ulta met its previously set goals of hitting a whopping $10 billion in revenue in 2022 – just a year after targets were put down.

In recent years, Ulta has only opened a few stores, according to reports in Retail Dive.

The plans will see around 200 Ulta stores open over a three year period – totaling around 66 a year.

COO Kecia Steelman said the company’s latest store openings had been performing well, despite competition from beauty behemoth Sephora.

Ulta also wants to grow its loyalty program to 50 million members by 2028.

CEO Dave Kimbell spoke of how their target demographic had changed over the years.

He said: “Today, more men – particularly young men – are engaging in and passionate about beauty, including skin care, fragrance and in particular, the broad wellness and self-care segment.

“And we also see meaningful growth from younger generations engaging in beauty.

“To younger beauty enthusiasts, it’s not about looking a certain way or changing their appearance. To them, beauty is fun.”

CFO Paula Oyibo said: “We expect 2024 and 2025 will be transitional years as we manage through near-term category dynamics, over the long-term.

“We see additional opportunity to expand our leadership position, delivering both profitable growth and compelling shareholder value.”

It comes just months after the beauty supply store admitted that shopper demand was cooling.

Ulta Beauty’s CEO, Dave Kimbell, said consumer spending had slowed and expected the company’s sales to grow by only a single digit this year.

While the company was prepared for this, Kimbell noted that it is “a bit earlier and a bit bigger” than they predicted.

“We came into the year — and we talked about this on our [earnings] call a few weeks ago — expecting the category to moderate. It has [had], as I said, several years of strong growth.

“We did not anticipate it would continue at the rate that it’s been growing.”

Kimbell said a dip in consumer spending has been more significant for high-end makeup and haircare products.
