Harrowing true story behind Alyssa Pladl movie after dad married daughter Katie & got her pregnant before triple murder

A MONSTER father impregnated his daughter before killing her and their child in cold blood, in a horrifying crime that is the subject of a new movie.

Steven Pladl, 43, suffocated his seven-month-old child Bennett before gunning down his daughter Katie and her adoptive father.

A man accused of having an incestuous relationship with his biological daughter has murdered her, their baby son, and her adoptive father before killing himself in a triple murder-suicide. North Carolina resident Steven Pladl, 43, was found dead in his car from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Dover, New York on Thursday [April 12, 2018] according to authorities. His biological daughter Katie Pladl, 20, was given up for adoption when she was an infant, but the pair began an incestuous relationship after she located him via social media in 2016. Katie fell pregnant with her father's baby, who whom she gave birth in September 2017. Katie and Steven were arrested in January but released on bond with the condition that they stay apart. Steven then went on a killing rampage where he murdered Katie, their 7-month-old child Bennet Pladl, and Katie's adoptive father Anthony Fusco, 56, according to police who discovered the bodies. Baby Bennett was suffocated by his father, before Pladl shot dead Katie and her adoptive father and then took his own life

He later committed suicide in Dover, New York, after driving through the night from his home in Knightdale, North Carolina, where police found the body of an infant in a bedroom closet.

Before taking his own life, he called his mother, confessing to his crimes.

His mother made a frantic call to 911 released in a redacted form by police.

The grisly crimes are now the subject of a Lifetime movie, Husband, Father Killer: The Alyssa Pladl Story, which premieres on Saturday, October 19 at 8 pm Eastern.

Steven Pladl met Katie’s mother, then-15-year-old Alyssa Pladl when he was 20 after he groomed her over the internet in 1995.

Alyssa became pregnant at 16 and gave birth to Denise at 17.

Pladl was abusive to their daughter, according to Alyssa, who claimed she would pinch the infant until she was “black and blue,” and stuffed her into a cooler until she almost suffocated.

Fearing for Denise’s life, Alyssa put her daughter up for adoption.

She was adopted by Anthony and Kelly Fusco from Dover, New York, who renamed her Katie Rose Fusco.

In August 2016, when she turned 18, Katie reached out to her biological parents on Facebook and eventually decided to move in with them in North Carolina.

Steven and Alyssa separated and Katie became increasingly close to her father.

In May 2017, Alyssa discovered that Pladl was in an incestuous relationship with his daughter and that Katie was pregnant.

Pladl had two other children aged six and 11, and Alyssa learned about the relationship after reading one of their diaries.

The couple’s children were told by Pladl to call Katie their stepmom instead of their sister, according to court documents.

This really bothers me a lot because nobody ever could have predicted this.

She called the police, but Pladl and Katie married in July 2017 in Maryland, after lying on their marriage documents by saying they were not related.

At the time, she posted a photo on her Instagram account with the hashtags #justmarried and #simplewedding.

Katie gave birth to a son, Bennett, in September 2017, but the following January, the couple were arrested on incest charges.

A judge ordered that Steven and Katie not contact each other, and Pladl’s mother was given custody of Bennett.

After Katie’s release on bond, she moved back in with her adoptive parents and cut off her relationship with Steven.

HAUNTING 911 CALL

Steven Pladl's mother made a frantic 911 call after her son confessed to killing his infant son and his wife.

“My son just called me and he told me … he killed his baby.

“I just got off the phone just a couple minutes ago, and he told me to call the police, that I shouldn’t go over there. …

“He said he put a key under the front mat, a key to get into the house.

“I didn’t ask him. I didn’t ask him, I didn’t want to know.

“His wife broke up with him over the phone yesterday. …

“He killed his wife. He killed her father. I can’t even believe this is happening.”

SICKENING CRIMES

On April 11, 2018, Pladl suffocated his infant son at his home in Knightdale.

The child had been living with his grandmother, but Pladl had asked that week if he could take the baby back to his home, adding that he and Bennett would Skype Katie that evening, according to police.

But cops said Pladl called his daughter’s adoptive family that night instead and said he was going to see them.

Pladl spoke to his mom shortly before midnight that evening and said he was going to take Bennett to see Katie in New York, calling her again the following morning to say he and the baby were almost there.

He then drove through the night from North Carolina to Connecticut, where he tracked down Katie and Anthony, who were driving from Dover to Waterbury to visit Katie’s grandmother.

Pladl murdered the pair with an assault rifle on their route in New Milford, Connecticut, before calling his mother.

He later shot himself in Dover, after making a call to his mother.

During the final call, Pladl told his mother he had killed Katie and Anthony.

When asked about his son, he said he had killed the infant and left him in his home.

In her frantic 911 call made shortly afterward, she told police her son had said his “wife” had broken up with him.

Bystanders heard gunshots and found the bodies of Katie and Anthony in their car.

Pladl’s body was later discovered on a remote road after killing himself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

AFTERMATH

Katie had expressed her desire to be an artist and shared her work online.

She wrote about her plans to attend community college in the fall of 2016, after graduating from Dover High School.

Rick Friedman, an attorney who had represented Pladl in his felony incest case, insisted there was no indication he could carry out such violent acts.

“This really bothers me a lot because nobody ever could have predicted this,” said Friedman, who had breakfast with his client just a month before the killings.

“If anybody had a remote idea anybody was in harm’s way there would have been no bond set,” he went on.

“There was just absolutely no prior notice anything would happen to these people.”

‘Referee’s got a chin on him’ say shocked fans after official accidentally whacked in face during heavyweight clash

SHOCKED fans saw a referee whacked flush on the jaw by a heavyweight fighter amid a controversial climax to a title eliminator.

Franklin Ignatius accidentally caught official Victor Loughlin in the face – just as the ref was stopping the fight in favour of Jeamie TKV.

Some viewers were surprised the bout was stopped, with 30-year-old TKV handed victory by a sixth-round technical knockout.

And all were stunned by what happened at the end of the contest at the Copper Box Arena.

TKV – aka Tshikeva – was pounding his fellow Londoner on the ropes when Loughlin stepped in to halt proceedings.

But at the very moment the ref intervened, Ignatius was offloading a wild swing.

It caught Loughlin on the jaw – but the Scot, who has been officiating since 2002, barely flinched.

Instead he put his arms across Ignatius, shaking his head repeatedly and gently explaining why he had stopped the eliminator for the eliminator for the English heavyweight title.

It left TKV celebrating his seventh win in eight fights – after a first defeat for Ignatius, 29 in the same number of contests.

One fan said: “Refs got a chin on him” while another added: “Damn the ref almost got chinned.”

A third added: “I think the ref was concussed there tbh.”

But there was some disagreement over Loughlin stepping in – and plenty of criticism over Ignatius’ performance.

One observer argued: “Was going TKVs way but that was one poor stoppage.”

Another posted: “I wonder if the fight was stopped too quickly, but what a performance from Jeamie Tshikeva!”

Scathing verdicts on the loser included: “Ignatius… Stunk it out.”

However, there was praise for TSK.

One wrote: “It’s a big shock! Tshikeva made a big impression!”

Another claimed: “Impressive win for Tshikeva! He showcased some serious skills.”

Ignatius spent the early rounds looking for space to deliver powerful blows from distance.

But TKV got on top by hustling in closer to rain in punches, notably left hooks.

Ignatius suffered a cut and a point deduction in the fifth round after a clash of heads.

And as TKV revved up the pressure in the next round, a series of clubbing right-handers persuaded Loughlin to cut proceedings short.

That set up the older man, from Tottenham, for a shot at the English crown.

Who is Sir Chris Hoy, how old is he & how many kids has he got?

Sir Chris Hoy has revealed doctors have given him just four years to live in a terminal cancer diagnosis.

He has now written a heartbreaking memoir detailing his experience of terminal cancer.

Sir Chris Hoy, pictured at the 2012 Olympics

Who is Sir Chris Hoy?

The Scotsman is a former track cyclist who competed in four summer Olympic Games. He grew up in Murrayfield near Edinburgh and first jumped on a bike at the age of six after he was inspired by the 1982 film ET. Before he moved on to track cycling, he rode a BMX bike until the age of 15 and was ranked second in Britain, fifth in Europe and ninth in the world.

Hoy has said that he first noticed track cycling during the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh when Scottish sprinter Eddie Alexander won a bronze medal. Away from cycling, Hoy was sporty in other fields – representing Scotland in the Junior rowing team and playing rugby at school. In February 2024, Hoy revealed he was undergoing treatment for cancer. He said the shock diagnosis came in 2023 during a check-up – despite him not having any symptoms. Hoy took to Instagram to make fans aware of his health struggles. He wrote: “I have a bit of news.

“Last year I was diagnosed with cancer, which came as a huge shock, having had no symptoms up to that point. “I’m currently receiving treatment including chemotherapy, which thankfully is going really well. “I’d like to extend my sincere gratitude to all the medical professionals for their amazing help and care. “For the sake of my young family, I had hoped to keep this information private but regrettably our hand has been forced. “Whilst I’m thankful for any support, I’d like to deal with this privately.”

But Sir Chris in fact knew that the cancer was terminal and that the treatment was “management”.

He went on to commentate the cycling events for the BBC at this year’s Paris Olympics despite his terminal cancer diagnosis.

The star had gone to the doctor in September last year after feeling a strain in his shoulder.

A tumour was found in his shoulder – before a second scan found the primary cancer in his prostate.

The prostate cancer had metastasised to Sir Chris’s bones – including his shoulder, pelvis, ribs, spine and ribs.

He has revealed today that he has terminal cancer and has been given two to four years to live.

Brave Sir Chris told the Sunday Times: “As unnatural as it feels, this is nature.

“You know, we were all born and we all die, and this is just part of the process.

“You remind yourself, aren’t I lucky that there is medicine I can take that will fend this off for as long as possible.”

Team GB cycling legend Sir Chris and his wife Sarra have two children, seven-year-old Chloe and 10-year-old Callum.

Sir Chris recounted how he told his children that no-one lives for ever but he hopes to “be here for many, many more years”.

He began chemotherapy in November, wearing an extremely painful cold cap to keep his hair.

The sportsman suffered a violent allergic reaction in gruelling chemo sessions – but only missed five days of training on a bike.

He has now written a heartbreaking memoir detailing his experience of terminal cancer.

Sir Chris revealed that his wife Sarra was diagnosed with incurable and degenerative multiple sclerosis just weeks before his cancer shock.

The couple have chosen low-risk but less effective treatments for Sarra’s MS.

On some days Sarra struggles to fit in the key in the door, Sir Chris said.

The couple have not yet told their two children about Sarra’s MS diagnosis.

Sir Chris said recording the audio version of his memoir is the hardest thing he has ever done.

The book ends with Sir Chris’s message to his children – which he said will be the words they listen to when he is gone.

All That Matters: My Toughest Race Yet by Sir Chris Hoy is published on November 7.

How old is he?

Hoy celebrated his 47th birthday in March 2023. And he’s achieved a lot in his time. Hoy is an 11-time world champion, with more than half of those medals landed at the Olympics. In 2009, Hoy was knighted by the Prince of Wales for “services to sport” at the same time his mother, Carol, received an MBE for services to nursing.

How many Olympic medals has he won?

Hoy is an 11-time world champion and six-time Olympic champion – which makes him the second most decorated Olympic cyclist of all time. His three gold medals at the 2008 Olympics secured him the spot of Scotland’s most successful Olympian and he became the first British athlete to win three gold medals in a single games since Henry Taylor in 1908. Olympics 2000 – silver, team sprint (with Craig MacLean and Jason Queally) 2004 – gold, 1km track time trial 2008 – 3 gold, Team sprint (with Jason Kenny and Jamie Staff), Keirin, Sprint 2012 – 2 gold, Team sprint (with Jason Kenny and Philip Hindes), Keirin World Championships 1999 – silver, team sprint 2000 – silver, team sprint 2001 – bronze, team sprint 2002 – 2 gold, 1km time trial, team sprint 2003 – bronze, team sprint 2004 – gold, 1km time trial – bronze, team sprint 2005 – gold, team sprint – bronze, 1km time trial 2006 – gold, 1km time trial – silver, team sprint 2007 – 2 gold, keirin, 1km time trial – silver, team sprint 2008 – 2 gold, sprint, keirin – silver, team sprint 2010 – gold, keirin – bronze, team sprint 2011 – 3 silver, keirin, team sprint, sprint 2012 – gold, keirin – bronze, sprint Commonwealth Games  2002 – gold, 1km time trial – bronze, team sprint (with Craig MacLean and Ross Edgar) 2006 – gold, team sprint (Craig MacLean and Ross Edgar) – bronze, 1km time trial

How many children does he have?

Hoy has been married to wife Sarra since 2010 when they tied the knot at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh. They have two children – a son Callum and daughter Chloe. The pair opened up about their struggles in 2021 as both of their children were born premature. Son Callum was born 11 weeks early on October 15, 2014, with Sarra opening up about the trauma that still plagues her. She told the Yorkshire Post: “It was 24 hours before I even saw him. “It was four days before I could hold him and it was like holding a frail baby bird. It was terrifying. “You are separated from your baby by this huge plastic box and they are covered in wires and tubes. They look so fragile you are worried that you will hurt them.” Hoy and his wife’s daughter Chloe was also born premature – about three weeks early. Sarra said: “No one prepares you for having a preterm baby, it is knowing what you can contribute. I was encouraged to touch Callum, but you are scared because they look so fragile.”

Who is Chris Hoy’s wife Sarra Kemp and how many children do they have?

SIR Chris Hoy is one of the UK’s all-time greatest athletes, winning multiple Olympic and World Championship golds.

The Team GB legend has revealed doctors have given him just four years to live in a terminal cancer diagnosis.

Who is Chris Hoy?

Sir Christopher Hoy MBE, born March 23, 1976, is a Scottish former track cyclist who represented Great Britain in four summer Olympic Games.

The six-time Olympic gold medalist and 11-time world champion was the UK‘s most successful Olympian and Olympic cyclist of all time when he retired in 2013 — a record which lasted until 2021, when Sir Jason Kenny overtook his tally.

He is still the second-most decorated Olympic cyclist ever.

Growing up in Murrayfield near Edinburgh, Chris first jumped on a bike after being inspired by the 1982 film ET at the age of six.

He rode a BMX until the age of 15 and was ranked second in Britain, fifth in Europe and ninth in the world — before moving on to track cycling.

Chris said he first noticed track cycling during the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh when Scottish sprinter Eddie Alexander won a bronze medal.

Sarra has been the one that has really got me through it all

Sir Chris Hoy

Away from cycling, he also competed for Scotland‘s junior rowing team, as well as playing rugby at school.

Who is Chris Hoy’s wife Sarra Kemp?

Sarra Kemp (née) was born in Scotland in 1984.

Chris and Sarra tied the knot at St Giles’ Cathedral, Edinburgh in 2010 — and she now goes by Lady Sarra Hoy.

Before the couple had their two children, she worked as a senior lawyer.

And following the premature birth of their son, Sarra became the official ambassador of Bliss Scotland — a charity for babies born sick or prematurely.

Speaking about her role, Sarra said: “… the parents need a lot of emotional support and information about what’s happening with your baby, and that’s why World Prematurity Day is so important, it’s starting a conversation.

“This doesn’t just affect babies, it’s not just mothers, it’s families and it’s the babies growing up as well and it’s about trying to let people know there is support out there.

“I’m an ambassador for Bliss baby charity, they provide support, and at the time I didn’t know I needed that.”

Chris credits much of his success to his wife of 14 years.

After winning gold at London‘s velodrome in 2012, he said: “Sarra has been the one that has really got me through it all.”

How many children does Chris Hoy have?

Chris and Sarra have two children — a son Callum and daughter Chloe.

On October 15, 2014, their son Callum was born 11 weeks early, weighing just 2lbs 2oz and having to spend the first 60 days in neonatal care — thankfully growing into a healthy toddler.

Callum was delivered by emergency caesarean section after Sarra was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia.

Sarra opened up about the trauma that still plagues her in 2021, telling the Yorkshire Post: “It was 24 hours before I even saw him.

“It was four days before I could hold him and it was like holding a frail baby bird. It was terrifying.

“You are separated from your baby by this huge plastic box and they are covered in wires and tubes. They look so fragile you are worried that you will hurt them.”

She also told Fabulous: “Initially, my biggest fear was just that Callum wouldn’t live, it is a fight for survival.

“You’re literally taking it hour by hour, then day by day, then the hard part becomes trying to let go of that fear.

“Once that passes and you think ‘this is actually happening, he’s putting on weight, he’s wearing clothes now, he can breathe by himself’, you have to begin to come to terms with the fact you can let your guard down a bit.

“That’s very hard to do and the fear doesn’t leave you for a long time.

“I would relive it, have flashbacks and cry every day probably for two years. But time is a healer.”

Sarra added: “No one prepares you for having a preterm baby, it is knowing what you can contribute.

“I was encouraged to touch Callum, but you are scared because they look so fragile.”

Their daughter Chloe was also born about three weeks early.

Although her exact date of birth isn’t publicly known, Chris revealed the news of her arrival on Twitter on September 9, 2017, writing: “Delighted to announce the safe arrival of Chloe Rose Carol Hoy this week! Sarra and Chloe doing really well.x”

When was Chris Hoy diagnosed with cancer?

In February 2024, Chris revealed he was undergoing treatment for cancer.

The 47-year-old said that despite not having any symptoms, the heartbreaking diagnosis came in 2023 during a routine check-up.

Hoy took to Instagram to break the news to his fans, posting: “I have a bit of news.

“Last year I was diagnosed with cancer, which came as a huge shock, having had no symptoms up to that point.

“I’m currently receiving treatment including chemotherapy, which thankfully is going really well.

“It looks like it has never been in doubt, which was not the case with the keirin. To see the performances, you think it must always be good but it is anything but.

“There were troughs and dips in the past four years and she has been there the whole way – never complained and never moaned or become frustrated with cycling because that has been put first over everything.

How Chris Hoy went from lad on £5 bike inspired by ET to 6-time Olympic champion

By Jonathan Rose

SIR Chris Hoy began cycling at the age of six after he was inspired by the 1982 film ET.

Before he moved on to track cycling, he rode a BMX bike until the age of 15.

Sir Chris was ranked second in Britain, fifth in Europe and ninth in the World.

His dad picked up a £5 bike from a jumble sale – four years later Sir Chris was competing in the semi-final of a BMX world championship race.

“I was six when I saw ET,” he told The Guardian in 2020. “It changed my life. I wasn’t interested in cycling at all before.”

“The bikes I’d seen in Edinburgh just seemed functional things for getting from A to B,” continued Hoy, who grew up in Murrayfield.

“Then I saw those BMX bikes on screen and I was hooked. It wasn’t the scene where they cycle across the sky, but when they get chased by the police and they’re doing jumps and skidding round corners.

“It was the most exciting thing I’d ever seen. I wanted to do that.”

Four years later he became part of the British national squad.

A world championship medal came in 1999 with silver in the team sprint.

Sir Chris went on to become the second most decorated Olympic cyclist of all time.

Sir Chris and Sarra have always been open about the struggles they went through with the children, who were both born prematurely.

Son Callum was born 11 weeks early in 2014, with Sarra revealing the trauma that still plagues her.

She told the Yorkshire Post in 2021: “It was 24 hours before I even saw him.

Littler, 17, delivered a huge 110.43 average and Aspinall threw his darts away onto the stage floor after the thrashing.

He said: “Obviously there was loads of talks about changing to my new darts.

“So I’ve come here this weekend and made a decision to go back to what I know best and they went well tonight.

“I’m happy I know what I can throw with these darts. That’s why I’m not playing with the gold ones and it just goes to show tonight why I shouldn’t have changed.”

Littler now faces old foe Damon Heta in the third round on Sunday afternoon.

He added: “If I play like this again tomorrow I’ll be very happy. I know me and Damo always have a good game. So I’ve got to be at my best. It should be a good game.”

After a disappointing opening round defeat at the Grand Prix, Littler was back to his devastating best.

He hit six perfect darts in the second leg of this clash but remarkably that ended in the only leg he lost.
