After Stellar Blade X Nier Automata, Fans Are Now Manifesting the Collab of Silent Hill 2 With One of Remedy’s Biggest Hits

Bloober Team’s rendition of Silent Hill 2 is nothing short of remarkable, a project that has taken one of the greatest horror games of all time, recreated its characters, atmosphere, and narrative, and modernized the whole package for both newcomers and veterans of the series.

Now, though, as most continue to explore James’ personal hell and unearth all the remake’s secrets, some have started to think beyond the fog-filled streets of the town. Given the audience overlap between Silent Hill and Alan Wake 2, many are now dreaming of a crossover between these two iconic horror franchises.

Let’s get the obvious out of the way first—this remake’s success has cemented its place amongst all the other modern horror classics. From its unbelievably atmospheric rendition of the Other World to the torment James experiences that now feels more personal than ever, every aspect of this game hits just as hard as it did back in 2001.

There’s a level of dedication here to every small detail about the PS2 game that has made it feel relevant in today’s landscape. Keeping that in mind, perhaps the better question to ask is why “isn’t” there an Alan Wake 2 X Silent Hill 2 crossover already in the works?

After all, Wake and Saga’s descent into madness as they try to overcome The Dark Presence parallels James’ own “Spiral” through Silent Hill’s purgatorial horrors.

It’s really not too much of an ask, either. Just give Wake’s outfit to James, similar to the Stellar Blade X Nier Automata crossover, and fans would be more than happy for life.

Not only can we see Wake’s outfit being a kind of special unlockable in Silent Hill 2, but with how these two titles are structured narratively, it’s also easy to envision a special in-game event blending both stories into one.

Given both franchises’ use of psychological horror and supernatural entities, a crossover could easily surpass mere cosmetic and potentially even play on the games’ shared themes of reality manipulation and mental torment.

It’s Worth Mentioning That Silent Hill 2’s Lore Also Perfectly Fits Within the RCU

Let’s just put our tinfoil hats on for a minute here as a thought exercise. Looking into Silent Hill’s lore, it’s kind of hard to deny that it wouldn’t seamlessly fit into Remedy’s Connected Universe.

Take the foggy town itself, which we can easily interpret as a Place of Power that takes shape based on its inhabitants’ deepest fears and traumas, similar to the Oldest House in Control.

Then there’s also Alessa, a girl with powerful psychic abilities who you can basically categorize as a Parautilitarian, much like Jesse and Alan. Plus, her connection to The Orders’ God, otherwise known as The Holy Mother, feels eerily similar to the Dark Presence that has latched itself onto Wake and Bright Falls.

James’ journey in Silent Hill 2 adds to these connections when you consider his videotape of Mary as an Object of Power that influences his mental state and pushes the town into warping his reality.

So, yes – for our money, Remedy’s emphasis on reality-bending objects and places of power meshes perfectly with the twisted lore of Silent Hill. With the RCU embracing its psychological horror side now more than ever before, a crossover with Bloober Team’s masterpiece feels like a match made in heaven.

That being said, with the Lake House DLC coming soon and the remake fresh on the scene, all in the month of Halloween, the timing couldn’t be better for something as big as this. What remains to be seen, then, is whether the two studios act quick on their feet and make the crossover a reality.

But with all that out of the way, what are your thoughts on Silent Hill 2’s remake so far? Would you like to see a crossover between the remake and Alan Wake 2? Let us know in the comments below!
