“You’ll leave the theatre buzzing about what’s to come”: Sony Has Outdone Itself as Tom Hardy Gives the Best Venom Movie With The Last Dance

Tom Hardy’s return as Eddie Brock in Venom: The Last Dance is one of the most anticipated comic book story adaptations of this year, especially since it has been confirmed that it will be the last installment in the symbiote’s saga. Sony has also released a couple of trailers revealing important details of what could happen in the movie, which is set to release on October 25, 2024.

Based on what we’ve seen in the trailers, Eddie Brock and Venom are on the run (as also revealed in the film’s logline), and many other symbiotes have arrived on Earth from Klyntar to escape some sort of an ordeal. Venom briefly suggested that his creator, Knull, might also be making an appearance on Earth as well. Before diving into any Venom: The Last Dance developments, let’s learn a little bit about the eldritch god of darkness.

Who is Knull from Venom’s storyline?

It turns out that Knull always existed, even when there was nothing around. Knull resided in the void of the Marvel cosmos, but at some point, the Celestials tried to bring light to the villain’s home. Knull chose to wage war on the Celestials but found himself stranded on Gorr’s (The God Butcher) planet.

There, he comes across a mystical power called the Living Abyss. Knull learns how to manipulate this power and eventually creates the symbiotes. His greed to return everything into darkness led him to create a hive mind, which controls all symbiotes.

Knull created symbiote dragons, which ventured out into the universe but they ended up bonding with hosts from other worlds. While a few on Earth were killed by Thor Odinson (The God of Thunder), the remaining roamed across the planet and they filled the hive mind with positive concepts.

Over time, the symbiote that Knull created turned against him, trapping him in Klyntar. But the battle between Eddie Brock’s Venom and Cletus Kasady’s Carnage helped Knull escape and reinstate his dominion over Klyntar while rebuilding an entire army of symbiote dragons (via Screenrant).

Based on the trailer, Knull might’ve sent a swarm of symbiote dragons to eliminate Venom and Eddie Brock. It is unclear whether the creator of the symbiotes will make an appearance on Earth by himself. But even if he doesn’t, it could pave the way for a crossover between Sony and the MCU, or provide some room for more storytelling.

Venom: The Last Dance receives high praise from critics

Fans are confused with Marvel constantly messing with its timeline

Recently, Sony hosted a premiere in New York for Venom: The Last Dance, and critics have had nothing but praise for the efforts of director Kelly Marcel and her team put into the movie. Some even believe this might be the best release of the trilogy as well.

Venom’s debut was a massive success at the box office, grossing $856 million worldwide while working with a budget that was eight times lesser. Venom: Let There Be Carnage featured Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady’s Carnage and this movie didn’t do as great as its pilot but still grossed over $500 million worldwide.

Sadly, Morbius and Madame Web barely touched the surface of success. Venom has evidently been one of Sony’s biggest projects. Here’s what critics have had to say on X:

As far as cameos and potential crossovers go, it’s up to us to find out upon the movie’s release. Tom Hardy admitted he couldn’t reveal much since it’s the final movie, but claims that “there are always possibilities” of having other characters join in on the action.

There has been some buzz surrounding the possibility of Venom joining the MCU and collaborating with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. However, nothing has been confirmed yet (via CBR).

Venom: The Last Dance will be released on October 25, 2024, in theaters.
