“Bill wants to go out in a blaze”: Star Trek Legend William Shatner’s Friends Reportedly Worried About His Health

Earlier this year, William Shatner opened up about battling stage 4 melanoma, stressing that his doctors were uncertain if he’d live. Fortunately, he overcame it, and the Star Trek icon is showing no signs of settling down. With Shatner previously insisting that he has no fear of death, at 93, the actor is reportedly propelling at breakneck speed with the events lined up ahead of him.

However, per reports, his loved ones aren’t too thrilled about the actor’s approach, as they fear he might be pushing himself too hard.

The Star Trek icon has had a pretty eventful life, both on and offscreen, and despite being in his 90s, it doesn’t seem Shatner has any intentions to change his ways. But this time around, it seems William Shatner might be pushing himself a bit too hard, as according to insiders, the actor currently has a “bucket list to fulfill”, irrespective of what it might do to his health.

He’s got all these things he wants to do and not a lot of time to do them in, and that’s propelling him to go around at this breakneck speed.

Apart from the string of Star Trek events lined up ahead of him, Shatner is also slated to sail on a planned Antarctica cruise this December.

Although this isn’t surprising, given that he became the oldest man to fly to space in 2021, his loved ones are reportedly worried about the potential impact of these upcoming endeavors on Shatner’s health.

He’s got this bucket list to fulfill and doesn’t care a damn about what it’s potentially doing to his health. He wants to go out with a blaze while loved ones would rather see him stick around, chill out and slow down.

While it doesn’t seem the actor is going to simmer down with his adventurous hunt, hopefully, it won’t be detrimental to his health as some fear.

William Shatner has been vocal about his rift with Captain Kirk’s death in Star Trek Generations, especially the character’s words before death, in which he sounds fearful. Considering that Captain Kirk is notable for being fearless, Shatner added that he didn’t want the character’s final moment “to be fearful”.

I think you die the way you live. So, Captain Kirk always had these grotesque things happening, ‘Oh, look at that! It’s an animal! I think it’s going to eat me,’ you know? But without fear… with joy and love and opportunity to see what’s better.

The actor eventually got to redo the scene in the way it felt right during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which prompted the audience to burst into laughter.

Star Trek Generations is available to stream on Paramount Plus.
