“Going to sh*t my pants in a most authentic way”: Alan Wake 2 Lake House DLC is Dialling Up the Horror That Will Set Up Control 2

Remedy Entertainment is ready to drop The Lake House, the second DLC for Alan Wake 2. Fans of the survival horror can prepare to revisit Bright Falls on October 22, 2024, according to the latest leaked dates. According to early screenshots, we might be returning to a classic Alan Wake horror experience.

Unlike the light-hearted tone of the previous Night Springs DLC, The Lake House seems to be returning to the dark, psychological horror that defines the series. With Remedy recently promoting its Interconnected Universe, the upcoming DLC could also potentially bridge the gap to Control 2.

Alan Wake 2‘s DLC Will Take Us Back To The Roots

Set alongside the events of the main game, The Lake House introduces Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) agent Kiran Estevez as the new playable protagonist. Estevez, who was a secondary character in Alan Wake 2, will now take center stage as she investigates a catastrophic event at Cauldron Lake.

Players will explore the mysterious FBC facility known as the Lake House. This is where secret research was conducted to connect reality with the Dark Place, the alternate dimension of Alan Wake‘s world.

The DLC’s setting could also tease future events in the Remedy Interconnected Universe. It’s very likely that we see a setup for Control 2 in some way.

Both Alan Wake and Control share a universe, with overlapping characters, lore, and events. Remedy has confirmed that the DLC will have hints and details of future titles, specifically Control 2. Estevez, who plays a central role in this DLC, may become a major character in the next installment of Control.

Early screenshots and the teaser trailer for the DLC are hinting at a return to the intense psychological horror that made the original Alan Wake so memorable. Remedy has always had a knack for blending unsettling atmospheres with absurd and surreal elements.

The Lake House DLC Should Also Have Hints For Control 2

Remedy Entertainment has a history of tying their games together, and The Lake House seems to be no exception. The DLC’s story will explore how the FBC was drawn into the supernatural events surrounding Cauldron Lake and The Dark Place.

The results of these discoveries could extend beyond the world of Alan Wake. It is entirely possible that Estevez becomes a key character in the upcoming Control sequel. Her role in this DLC could open the way for her potential starring role in Control 2.

According to leaks, the DLC is coming out in less than a week on October 22, 2024. The timing for this is perfect because horror fans will be wrapping up the recently released Silent Hill 2 remake. With The Lake House DLC, October has back-to-back horror experiences lined up.

It’s clear that Remedy is playing the long game with its storytelling. The DLC should most likely be a blast. But apart from that, it will also make way for the future of the Remedy Connected Universe.
