University student dies after incident at gym A university student has died following an incident at a gym. A student has died after a ‘medical incident’ at the gym.

The man, aged in his 20s, had been using equipment inside the University of East Anglia’s Sportspark when the episode happened.

He was treated by paramedics when emergency services arrived there shortly after 7pm yesterday but later declared dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for the university confirmed a student had died and the site would remain closed.

In a statement, Norfolk Police said: ‘Police can confirm a man has died following an incident at the University of East Anglia (UEA).

‘The area was evacuated while emergency services provided medical treatment.

‘A police cordon is in place and the gym will remain closed while enquiries are carried out to establish the circumstances surrounding the death, which is being treated as unexplained.’

Photos taken at the Sportspark show several emergency vehicles, including a forensics van, stationed outside.
