“My chances of survival were virtually nil”: Crowley Actor Mark Sheppard Has Had 6 Major Medical Scares by Fall 2023 – Every Supernatural Fan Needs to Know

Having appeared in titles such as Firefly, Star Trek: Voyager, Battlestar Galactica, and Doom Patrol, Mark Sheppard has cemented himself as a prominent name in the realm of sci-fi on TV. However, amidst all his works, the actor’s stint as the King of Hell in Supernatural remains one of the actor’s most memorable performances.

Although he has continued to excel outside of the realm of Supernatural, from which he was let go in 2017, last year, Sheppard sustained a major health crisis, which could’ve had some serious implications.

Taking to his IG, Mark Sheppard shared that on his way to an appointment, the actor collapsed in his kitchen after suffering six major heart attacks. Speaking of the severity of the situation, the Supernatural star added “My chances of survival were virtually nil”. He stressed if it wasn’t for his wife Sarah Louise Fudge, the Los Angeles Fire Department, and the staff at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, he might’ve been six feet under.

Despite the health scare, things are looking great for the actor now, who is currently busy with The Road So Far… The Road Ahead Conventions.

Mark Sheppard Wasn’t a Fan of How His Supernatural Character Progressed

Although Mark Sheppard’s portrayal of Crowly remains one of the biggest highlights of the show, as the series continued, there was a notable downgrade in the writing surrounding his character. Sheppard too echoed these sentiments, stressing Crowley went from “being the smartest character on the show to being the dumbest character on the show in two seasons”.

Sheppard also doesn’t share fond memories of his character’s premature send-off from Supernatural, joking that his exit was years in the making, as there was no proper progression with his character after season 8.

I think a particular showrunner, who will remain nameless, was trying to kill me off for about four or five years,

While it’s a shame his character was never allowed to live up to its potential after a strong start, with The Boys shaping up for its final installment, hopefully, we might see the actor in some form. Although it can’t be said for certain if Sheppard will be brought in for the final chapter in Eric Kripke‘s Amazon hit, seeing him reunite with his former Supernatural peers would certainly be a sight to behold.

Supernatural is available to stream on Max.
