The Lakeview Hotel is one of the most important locations in the entire Silent Hill 2 remake. In this hotel, you’ll find all kinds of puzzles to solve, along with numerous collectibles to obtain and better understand what’s happening.
In the employee area, there is a puzzle that requires gems to unlock a code, which in turn unlocks a safe containing critical game items. This is a guide on how to open the gem box in Silent Hill 2.
To solve this puzzle, you will need to gather a total of three gems scattered around this area of the hotel.
Find the Three Gems to Solve This Silent Hill 2 Puzzle
In the employee section of the hotel on the first floor, there is another puzzle to solve: opening the gem box located in the manager’s office. To open this gem box in Silent Hill 2, you must find three gems of different colors and then place them in a specific order in the box.
You can find the first red gem in the manager’s office itself. You can access it by moving a wardrobe, revealing a hole in the wall. Entering through that hole will lead you to another room with a bed. To the left, on a nightstand in a box, lies the first red gem.
The blue gem is located inside a fridge in the freezer room of the hotel’s employee area. In the kitchen, you’ll find the final green gem, but be careful, as there are enemies in this area that you’ll need to defeat. The green gem will be on the right side, on the counter.

How to Open the Gem Box In Silent Hill 2?
Once you have collected all three gems in the employee area of the Lakeview Hotel in Silent Hill 2, you’ll need to head to the manager’s office to solve the puzzle.
You must arrange the three gems in a box located on the manager’s desk in a specific order. This puzzle features a hexagonal shape, so there are six slots in total to use. First, place the green gem in the upper left slot. Then, place the red gem in the slot directly opposite the green one.
Finally, place the blue gem in the slot below the green one. Doing this will automatically open a hidden compartment in the box, revealing the code 7414.
Use this code to unlock the safe located in the hotel’s employee area’s break room. Inside this safe, you will find the basement key along with a video, and by then, you will have solved the entire puzzle.
