Major Tua Tagovailoa retirement update as Miami Dolphins star makes his final decision after concussion test results

A MASSIVE report on Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s future has been revealed.

The update comes after the 2023 NFL Pro Bowl signal-caller’s concussion test results were revealed.

Tagovailoa has been out since Week 2 following the fourth head injury of his career.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter appeared on the network’s pregame coverage of the Monday Night Football matchup between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets and shared info on the Dolphins star.

The reporter said that Tua has met with neurologists across the country and that all indications from his concussion tests have pointed to him being told that he can continue to play in the NFL.

Schefter also said that he thinks Tagovailoa can be back sooner rather than later.

Tua Tagovailoa does expect to play again this season. … He’s consulted with doctors and he believes he is okay to continue an NFL career that many people were calling for him to walk away from,” Schefter said.

There have been calls for Tua to retire, with many concerned over his long-term well-being.

It was revealed over the weekend about Tagovailoa’s final decision on whether he wants to play again in the league.

During an interview on The Pat McAfee Show, ESPN analyst and college football icon Nick Saban opened up about the topic.

Saban coached Tua during his Alabama Crimson Tide tenure, and the pair have spoken to each other recently.

“I talked to Tua. He really wants to play,” said Saban on ESPN’s College Gameday.

“Whether he ever can play or get the opportunity to do it again, I guess that’s a medical decision somebody has to make.

“He seemed to be good. I talked to him right afterwards.

“You know, he’s good.

“He’s always positive and, you know, very enthusiastic.”

Tagovailoa is coming off a career-best 2023 campaign that saw him record 29 passing touchdowns for 14 interceptions along with an NFL-leading 4,624 passing yards.

He signed a four-year, $212 million contract extension with the Dolphins in the offseason.

Tua is on injured reserve and isn’t eligible to return until Miami’s Week 8 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Miami is 2-3 for the season and is coming off a Week 6 bye.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel expects Tagovailoa to play this season.

“I do expect to see him playing football in 2024,” McDaniel told reports Monday.

“But where that is, exactly — we’ll let the process continue since we still have time before he can even entertain anything.

“We’ll make sure that he’s diligent this week and assess after that.”

Miami is expected to start Tyler Huntley in the team’s Week 7 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
