Knowing how to deflect a Beam in Sparking Zero is as easy as pressing a button or two.

Understanding how to counter Ki Blasts in Sparking Zero isn’t too difficult, but the method can change depending on what type of controls you’re using.

Before we get into how to deflect Beams and Ki Blasts, you need to know if you’re using Standard Controls or Classic Controls, which go by the Budokai Tenkaichi style.

Deflecting these attacks comes down to using Super Perception and holding a certain set of buttons on the controller.

If you’re using the Standard Layout, it is pretty easy: Simply hold the Circle button on PlayStation or the B button on Xbox to enter Super Perception and deflect Beams and Ki Blasts.

The Classic Controls is a bit harder to pull off, especially if you’re not able to hold your controller comfortably. Entering Super Perception on PlayStation involves holding Triangle and Circle at the same time. On Xbox, you need to hold Y and B together.

Other mechanics in the game can be affected by how many times you deflect. We’ll cover a few tips and tricks on resource management so that you have enough Skill Counts for doing things like transformations.

Tips Regarding How to Counter Ki Blasts

These tips will help you make sure you’re set up to pull off a deflect.

If you’re still not able to pull it off correctly, here’s some important information that you can keep in mind to ensure that you’re pulling it off correctly.

Enter the training mode and give yourself max Ki Energy and Skill Counts. Meanwhile, put the enemy into Defense Strategy: Blast mode so that you can practice this consecutively.

Now, there are two very critical things regarding deflecting and countering Beams and Ki Blasts that you have to keep in mind before you pull one off.

You need at least two Skill Counts to do it, and enough Ki Energy. This is because entering the Super Perception stance will continuously drain your Ki Energy.

The timing of deflecting these attacks is very loose and open. You just need to hold the respective buttons when you see the opponent getting ready to launch a Beam attack.

Because of this, you might be inclined to hold it way earlier than you need to. This will drain a lot of your Ki Energy, so practicing the timing will save you a lot of Ki Energy during a fight that’s best spent elsewhere.

If you think you’re not going to have enough Ki Energy to deflect the Ki Blast, it’s better to just block the attack.

With these tips in mind, you should know how to reflect Ki Blasts and reliably deflect all of the Beam attacks that come your way.
