Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero – How to Use Sonic Sway in Battles

During battles in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, players will need to know how to use Sonic Sway to evade some rush attacks. If these attacks land, they can cause massive damage and turn the tide of the battle against the player, but they are not entirely powerless against this flurry of fists.

Evasions in the franchise’s games have always been present, and Sparking Zero has refined the move, showcasing it in a way fans have never seen before! However, performing this move might not be something everyone knows, and we’re here to take you through the process step-by-step.

How to Use Sonic Sway in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero?

Learning to use the Sonic Sway can get you out of some sticky situations.

To use Sonic Sway in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, players will need to press both the Block button and the Perception button. Fans of the anime would be familiar with this move, as many characters throughout the series, such as Vegito, have humbled their opponents by simply weaving out of the way of their lightning-fast attacks.

Small touches like this, where Bandai Namco has introduced iconic moves into Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, are why many fans believe the game is breathing new life into the legacy franchise. However, using Sonic Sway comes down to the timing, of both your button presses and when to use this incredibly useful evasive maneuver.

Firstly, how you use Super Perception depends on your choice of controller settings. If you are using the Standard controller layout, then you simply need to press the Circle or B button to engage Super Perception mode. However, if you are using the Classic layout, then you will have to press the Circle and Triangle, or B and Y buttons simultaneously to activate this move.

Once you have your controller layout chosen, you may be thinking that this move must work like a parry. However, it’s much simpler. While other games require you to time your button press the moment the attack connects to successfully parry the attack, you can simply press and hold the required button to keep Super Perception mode active.

Tip
You can also keep the Guard button held and press the Perception button as the attack lands to activate Sonic Sway. This will help reduce Ki consumption.

Keep in mind that the longer you hold down the button, the more of your Ki will be drained. However, as long as the full bar isn’t drained and you get off a successful Sonic Sway, you will be able to recover that Ki bar. A bonus is that your opponent’s Ki bar will reduce during the entire rush.

How To Avoid Attacks in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero?

Fights can get intense if you don’t know how to think on your feet.

There are a number of other ways to avoid getting hit in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, such as guarding, evading, and nullifying the attack. Guarding can be done by simply holding down the guard button when the attack hits. This requires the least effort and zero Skill Points, which you can then invest into transforming your character into a stronger version.

Evading is another viable strategy and requires no Skill Points but will require timing and some Ki. You will simply need to hold your analog stick in a certain direction and hit the dash button when the attack reaches you. If you want to do a Super Dash, then you will require Ki energy, but this is a reliable way of evading most attacks. The only time this may not be useful is when the attack consists of fast, tracking beams.

Finally, you have the option to nullify an attack. This is similar to deflecting, as it makes use of Super Perception. However, nullifications can only occur when you are on the ground and will also require 2 Skill Points to perform. If you misjudge your Skill Point amount, you’ll be met with the full brunt of the attack.

That’s all there is to know about swaying, evading, blocking, and nullifying attacks in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero! Which method is your favorite, and which one do you use the most?
