Super Soldier Serum Gave Captain America a Secret Ability Chris Evans Had Been Honing Since The First Avenger (Theory)

Marvel theories have been abundant due to the franchise’s popularity and fame among fans. The MCU boasts of some of the most intriguing and captivating characters, and their exciting origin stories.

Chris Evan’s Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, is one of the fan-favorite Avengers superheroes. The actor perfectly molded himself into the iconic character, and Captain America: The First Avenger provided an excellent backstory. However, a theory suggests that there is one superpower that the Captain gained which went largely unnoticed.

Everyone knows the lore associated with the origin of the first Avenger’s powers. A young and scrawly Steve Rogers was injected with the Super Soldier Serum during the Second World War.

Dr. Abraham Erskine’s creation gave Rogers immense strength and in Chris Evans‘ case his hulking physique. All of this was aptly portrayed by Joe Johnson’s Captain America: The First Avenger, which came out in 2011.

However, another theory indicates that super strength might not be the only ability that Captain America unlocked by being injected. Throughout the movies, Evans’ character exhibits moments of high intellect and leadership qualities with relative ease.

It is quite possible that along with physical prowess, the serum also enabled the superhero to achieve his true potential, as a leader. Captain America is a sight to behold on the battlefield, and that may be due to the chemical solution.

Moments of pure brilliance from the First Avenger

Evans in his portrayal of the Marvel hero showcased various instances of physical prowess but the actor shined in other moments too. On several occasions, Captain America showcased his advanced intelligence which may support the above theory.

Although his intellect may not be at par with Tony Stark’s (played by Robert Downey Jr.) scientific genius, Captain America shined in moments of war strategy. He was also able to adapt to tricky situations during combat swiftly when compared to others.

It may not be as farfetched to assume that the Super Soldier Serum may not just be for enhancing Rogers on the surface. Instead, to guarantee his efficiency in the U.S. military, the serum must have sharpened his intellect as well as wit.

This is one of those theories that can be easily distinguished by carefully observing the character and his traits. Though Rogers was initially a kind-hearted and good-will civilian, he lacked the mental proficiency that Captain America later showcased.

Captain America: The First Avenger is currently available to watch on Disney+.
