“I never watched it” Frankie Muniz Makes Bombshell Confession about Bryan Cranston’s Malcolm in the Middle

Malcolm in the Middle is a wholesome and hilarious sitcom loved by many, and most of us now look back at it with nostalgia. The quirky characters, offbeat humor, and their touching family dynamics are a few things that keep bringing the viewers back to this amazing show. Bryan Cranston as a zany dad, and Frankie Muniz who outsmarted everyone, made the show unique and unbeatable in its own right.

Even several years after the show’s end, cast members, especially Muniz, speak fondly of their experience on Malcolm in the Middle. If you’re a long-term fan of the show, tune in to know some quirks of our main lead and other hilarious behind-the-scenes moments.

Frankie Muniz Never Watched Malcolm in the Middle

It’s odd that Frankie Muniz was part of such a successful and loved show, but surprisingly never watched it! In an interview with People, he revealed, “When (the show) was on, I never watched it.” For many actors, watching their own performances is part of their job because that might help them improve immensely.

However, Muniz doesn’t seem to be cut from the same cloth because he’s not one bit interested in watching himself on the screen. He never explained the reasoning behind this decision, but some might wonder that maybe it’s his desire to maintain distance from the character of Malcolm.

Yet, despite not watching Malcolm in the Middle, the actor has nothing but fond memories of filming with his co-stars. He reflected on the times they shared together, saying, “We had so many fun memories together and fun times together,”

Bryan Cranston, the actor we all came to love in Breaking Bad, was first a part of this sitcom, and he immensely helped the younger cast on the show. Muniz had only kind words to say about Cranston, “Bryan has always been such an incredible human,” he reflected on how their relationship grew as they spent more time together and acknowledged him as a father figure.

This beautiful bond first started in their early days of working together when Cranston made an unforgettable entrance. Muniz recalled the events saying, “Bryan Cranston comes in wearing a little Speedo, you know what I mean? And he’s like, ‘Hey, I’m going to be your dad.’”

Not only did he develop a relationship with Cranston, but the show’s entire cast, especially the actors who played his siblings, “We really felt like that … not sibling rivalry, but you have that sibling relationship.” He also spoke about how they were spending almost 12 hours a day with each other, so it’s only natural for them to eventually grow closer and form familial bonds.

Lastly, loyal fans of the show might think that his aversion to watching Malcolm in the Middle could be due to memory loss. However, in the Wild Ride podcast, the actor mentioned that the rumors were blown out of proportion, and even though he had several concussions (which turned out to be aura migraines), he doesn’t fully blame them for his forgetfulness.

So even though his confession of never watching the show might come off as a shock to many, it’s clear that it has nothing to do with his connection to Malcolm in the Middle, and most importantly its cast. The sitcom created a legacy far beyond its episodic stories, that created and nurtured beautiful connections, the kind that would last a lifetime.
