“I fell out of a window, doesn’t mean I’m dead”: Samuel L. Jackson Refuses to Believe His “Second Most Powerful Jedi” Didn’t Survive in Star Wars

Prior to being synonymous with MCU, Samuel L. Jackson happened to be a staple of the Star Wars universe. Playing the role of Jedi master Mace Windu in all three Star Wars Prequel Trilogy films, Jackson faced his character’s death in 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, after confronting Palpatine.

However, despite falling off of a window, Samuel L. Jackson believes there’s still hope for his character to survive. During his recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jackson opened up about Mace Windu’s fate in the Star Wars universe. Giving several reasons why Windu might be alive, Jackson refused to believe that George Lucas concluded his character’s run.

Samuel L. Jackson Insisted that His Star Wars Character is Alive

Joining the iconic Star Wars franchise as the Jedi master Mace Windu, Samuel L. Jackson donned the role in all three Prequel Trilogy films. However, in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Jackson’s character met his tragic fate during a confrontation with Emperor Palpatine, after Anakin Skywalker betrayed him.

In the scene, Mace Windu was inches close to defeating Sidious, when he raised his lightsaber to strike down the Sith Lord. However, in a dramatic moment, a desperate Anakin Skywalker ignited his own weapon and severed Windu’s forearm. Sidious then blasted the Jedi master with Force lightning, sending him to his death.

Well, after such an epic battle and heartbreaking fall to death, Samuel L. Jackson’s Mace Windu became a memorable character in the Star Wars franchise. But somehow, the actor isn’t willing to accept his character’s death. Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jackson openly insisted about the possibility of Windu’s survival.

There’s a history alone, history of one-armed, one-handed people in the Star Wars Universe. So, just cause they cut my arm off and I fell out a window, doesn’t mean I’m dead. I’m a Jedi!

The second-most powerful Jedi in the universe next to Yoda. So, I can float! Yeah, he’s out there. Yeah, he’s out there walking the Earth with Jules.

Discussing his thoughts on Mace Windu’s Star Wars fate, Samuel L. Jackson claimed that his opinions and reasons are far from controversial. Dropping reasons like the history of Star Wars characters surviving with one arm, as well as his character’s powers given that he’s the second-most powerful Jedi after Yoda, Jackson tried proving how Windu might be alive.

Samuel L. Jackson Argued About Mace Windu’s Survival In Star Wars

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time that Samuel L. Jackson has argued about the survival of Mace Windu in the Star Wars franchise. Previously appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Jackson had once again insisted about Windu’s survival. Claiming to have spoken with The Mandalorian director Bryce Dallas Howard, Jackson noted asking her to include Windu in the show.

I think [Windu] is alive somewhere… There’s a huge history of people with one hand returning in ‘Star Wars’.The only person I’ve ever said that to, about coming back, was Bryce Dallas Howard. I just did a movie with her, and she directs episodes of ‘The Mandalorian’.

So I was like, ‘Do you think you might be able to hook a brother up? I mean, you like me, right?’ And she’s like ‘I love you, you’re amazing!’ So I said, ‘Put me back in it.’ I’ll learn to use the Lightsaber left-handed!

It seems that MCU’s Nick Fury just can’t get over his Jedi role in the Star Wars universe. With every chance he gets, Samuel L. Jackson somehow keeps insisting that Mace Windu must be alive somewhere in the galaxy far, far away. And if he really did survive the fall, it remains questionable if Windu could reappear at any point in Star Wars.
