Jaguar to STOP making two petrol motors before 2025 as part of ‘pure-electric’ era – is your favourite getting axed?

JAGUAR are just months away from ending the production of two more of their models – as the famous British brand prepares for its new all-electric era.

In total, the luxury car maker will see out 2024 having discontinued five motors, with three of them already reaching the end of the road – and they won’t sell any new cars in 2025.

However, the F-Pace will live on into 2025[/caption]

Back in July, a company spokesperson for Jaguar Land Rover announced that production of the XE, XF and F-Type sportscar had finished.

What’s more, the small E-Pace SUV and the I-Pace EV, which are both produced at their Austrian facility, will no longer be produced from December 2024.

However, one model, the F-Pace, will see its production run extended into 2025.

Jaguar Land Rover’s CEO Adrian Mardell revealed at an investor’s day earlier this year that the manufacturer is fully committed to becoming a luxury, all-electric brand.

In a statement to Top Gear, Jaguar said: “As JLR transitions to its electric future, current Jaguar production of XE, XF and F-Type came to an end in mid 2024, while the I-Pace and E-Pace in partnership with Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria will come to an end in December 2024.

“Current F-Pace production at Solihull and local manufacturing for China will continue for the foreseeable future.

“The sale of all current nameplates continues throughout 2024 and in some markets well into 2025.

“Jaguar will begin an exciting new era as a pure-electric luxury brand with vehicle production commencing at our Solihull facility from 2025.

“The Jaguar retail partners, and service network remains fully operational and will continue to deliver unparalleled levels of customer care and attention to our current Jaguar clients.”

This comes as Mardell claimed in a report by Automotive News Europe that the motors set for the chopping blocks all represent “close to zero profitability.”

Mardell said: “We are eliminating five products, all lower value.

“None of those are vehicles on which we made any money, so we are replacing them with new vehicles on newly designed architectures.”

To that end, the continuation of the F-Pace makes complete sense; JLR sold 21,943 F-Pace models last year compared to just 7,897 E-Paces and 4,874 I-Paces, according to figures posted by Autocar.

That gap between the F-Pace and the rest of Jaguar‘s range has grown further in the first half of 2024, with JLR’s sales numbers dominated by the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Defender.

With no new vehicles, ICE or EV, to hit showrooms before 2026, the firm will instead focus on used car sales and aftersale services.

In August, Managing Director Rawdon Glover told Autocar that there “will be a period where you will not be able to buy a Jaguar”.

He said: “For brands that want to operate in the luxury space, their provenance, history and iconography are really important.

“So we have reimagined the leaper for the new brand and for the vehicle.

“It will live on, but in a slightly developed format.”

Jaguar will, however, eventually replace their depleted range with at least three all-new EVs that will be unveiled in due course, with the first of these said to be an all-electric grand tourer that will rival the Porsche Taycan, lay down 575 horsepower and boast a range of over 435 miles.

The £100,000 car is all set to be fully revealed in December.

It will then be followed by an SUV and limousine model designed to rival the Bentley Bentayga and Flying Spur and both expected in 2028.

This comes as Audi launched a new hybrid that has an environmentally-friendly range of 88 miles and comes with superfast charging.

Ferrari have also been busy, having unveiled their most powerful car ever – a hybrid hypercar that will serve as the long-awaited successor to the legendary LaFerrari.

The F80, described as a “beautiful spaceship” has been unveiled by the famous brand just weeks after McLaren revealed the W1, reigniting the two manufacturers’ long-running rivalry.

I rang the police over my blood spattered bathroom & other creepy mysteries…people think there’s an innocent explanation

BLOOD stains in the bathroom and lights being switched on by themselves have caused one homeowner to live in fear.

She called the police for help after weeks of failing to figure out the cause of the strange occurrences.

a dirty toilet with a chrome button on it
A Mumsnet user asked for an explanation for the strange occurrences taking place in her home

The homeowner shared a diagram revealing four entry points that would’ve been flagged by her camera[/caption]

The Mumsnet user said she initially thought objects being found in unexpected places was the result of her rushing around the house or her cats playing.

However, spotting that the lights had been turned on while she was out and finding blood splatter in the bathroom left her spooked.

She said her cats couldn’t have brought anything into the house as the windows and doors had been closed all day.

Her carbon monoxide detector didn’t pick up anything out of the ordinary either.

“Have a loft but the hatch is tiny and doesn’t seem to have been disturbed,” she said.

“Have an internal camera which shows the front door and hall – no activity though it did show my dog going bonkers barking at something outside a couple of times today (though the external camera isn’t up yet so I couldn’t see what).

“Only direct family have keys and they wouldn’t do stuff like this. Will be changing the locks tomorrow!

“I’m properly creeped out ATM! Husband will be back shortly from work thank God! I’m in the bedroom with the door wedged shut for the moment!

“Please someone give me a rational explanation!”

A stream of responses to the post agreed the situation was “weird” and advised the woman to call the police to investigate.

She shared a diagram suggesting that an intruder would’ve been spotted on camera.

“So not quite to scale but, one is the living room, two the kitchen, three the front door, and four where I’ve got the camera,” she said, referring to the labels on the illustration.

“So I can see anyone passing through the living room but not into the actual kitchen. It’s the only place I can put it that covers the front door though.”

Several responses to the post suggested the mystery could be explained by a homeless person sneakily living in the house.

Others argued it was more likely insects or an animal causing chaos around the property.

“My guess is that your cat has brought in a mouse ( mice can get under doors) and then it’s run around, bleeding slightly,” one person said.

“Cat is on the other side of the door. The mouse is hiding or dead.

“If those are blood droplets they are tiny so fit with a mouse. Hope your DH [dear husband] is home soon!!”

What are the signs of ghosts?

Spirit Shack is a UK-based company that specialises in equipment for paranormal investigations.

They’ve rounded up 12 common signs that a ghost, poltergeist, or other supernatural entity may be present in your home:

  • Cold spots and temperature changes
  • Flickering lights
  • Electromagnetic field spikes
  • Unexplained object movement
  • Unexplained smells
  • The feeling of being watched
  • Apparition sightings
  • Disembodied voices
  • Unexplained technological failures
  • Random noises and knocking
  • Dream communication
  • Emotional projection

A flood of commenters said they had seen similar blood splatter in their home caused by fleas.

“I found blood specs like this on my toilet closed lid & T-shirt on top of a laundry pile, brown specs, dried blood,” one person said.

“It was my cats sitting there and shedding residue from having fleas.

“The fleas carry blood in them which leaves specs.

“Comb your pets with a fine metal flea comb to see if this could be an option. I haven’t read the full thread so sorry if repeat posting.”

Another commenter agreed the woman should check her cats but admitted fleas don’t explain the other creepy things.

The woman responded to the thread revealing the mystery remained unsolved as she checked her pets “without finding a single flea.”

She changed her locks and her husband found no one when he checked their loft.

Her ex-partner has no reason to break in and her parents aren’t physically fit to enter their home just to “f*k around.”

She also ruled out that her sister would’ve been behind the terrifying occurrences.

“Police came at about 5am, had a quick look around the house and said to phone back if there was any more disruption,” she said.

“So all a bit weird still. Still feeling a bit unsettled.”

Jose Mourinho’s struggling Fenerbahce consumed by ‘unhappiness and hopelessness’ ahead of Man Utd clash in Europa League

FENERBAHCE have been consumed by “unhappiness and hopelessness” under new boss Jose Mourinho’s steerage.

The Turkish giants are winlesss in October as Mourinho gears up to face his former side Man Utd for their Europa League clash in Istanbul on Thursday.

The Turkish club are winless in October a Man Utd head to Istanbul on Thursday

Fenerbahce were expected to mount a title challenge when they recruited serial winner Mourinho, who was axed by Roma in the summer – but things aren’t exactly going to plan.

The Super Lig side find themselves fourth and eight points behind leaders Galatasaray after twice throwing away the lead in their 2-2 draw with Samsunspor on Sunday.

And now club legend Volkan Demirel has provided a damning verdict on Fenerbahce’s dip in form.

Demirel told Turkish outlet Fanatik: “Right now, this Fenerbahce team is mixed with unhappiness and hopelessness.

“Why the unhappiness? Because of the environment they are in. Why the hopelessness?

“We were all expecting something. We were expecting it from Mourinho, we were expecting it from the transfers that were made.

“We were saying let’s see after the international break, but nothing has changed at the moment, but it will obviously continue like this.

“We waited to see if we could see a change, a variability, but it didn’t happen.

“We have not seen any changes in the game designs of the matches played at home and away.  Or if you are leading 2-1, will Fenerbahce play a seven-man defence? A big question mark.”

Fenerbahce brought in former Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin on loan from Al-Ahli as well as ex-Man Utd loanee Sofyan Amrabat as they spent £40.8million this summer.

The former Chelsea boss made headlines last week after ripping up ex-Rangers forward Ryan Kent’s contract in the 16th month of his four-year-deal.

But there’s absolutely no suggestions Mourinho’s job could be in danger, with Fenerbahce winning five of their opening eight league games.

Thursday’s game is a big one for Erik ten Hag as well, with many believing a defeat to Mourinho would be too much for fans to bear.

The Man Utd boss is winless in the Europa League this season, having drawn 1-1 with Dutch side Twente at Old Trafford and crawling back to 3-3 away at Porto.

In fact, in his last 10 European games Ten Hag has won just once, which came against Copenhagen in the group stage of last season’s Champions League.

Virgil van Dijk contract: Liverpool ace confirms talks over new deal ARE ongoing as he credits Slot’s tactical influence

VIRGIL VAN DIJK is in talks over a new Liverpool deal and is “having fun” under new boss Arne Slot.

The Reds captain, 33, is one of a trio of stars out of contract at the end of the season, alongside Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

All three could discuss terms with clubs overseas from January if new contracts are not signed.

But Van Dijk, who joined for £75million in January 2018, says he is speaking to the “right people” about a new deal.

He said: “I can say obviously discussions are ongoing, but I don’t know, we will see what happens in the future.

“My full focus is on Liverpool, wanting to win games that are ahead of me and nothing else.

“What the future will bring I have no idea at the moment. I can only tell you that discussions have been started up and we will see.

“I feel very good, physically, mentally and I am having fun.

“What the future brings, I have no idea at the moment, but discussions are ongoing with the right people, and when it’s time to make a decision or whatever, you guys will know it as well.

“But now full commitment and focus is on Liverpool and to be successful this season. So we will see.”

Liverpool’s win over Chelsea on Sunday kept them at the top of the table, a point ahead of holders Manchester City.

Van Dijk, who won the Premier League in 2020, says he is blocking out talk of a title push in Slot’s first season.

Liverpool ratings vs Chelsea

By Ken Lawrence

LIVERPOOL picked up a big 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Anfield to remain top of the Premier League.

The Reds registered their first victory against a team currently occupying the top half of the Prem table.

That was a major statement for the Merseysiders’ manager Arne Slot, whose team now stands a point ahead of Manchester City and four away from third-placed Arsenal at the top.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring a minute before the half-hourmark from the penalty spot.

But Chelsea hit back just three minutes into the second half with Nicolas Jackson.

However, Liverpool picked up the three points thanks to Curtis Jones’ winner just three minutes later.

But how did each Liverpool star far? Check out Ken Lawrence’s player ratings below for more:

CAOIMHIN KELLEHER – 5

For the Kop – and no doubt secretly for boss Arne Slot – still surely lacking a top keeper’s presence.

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD – 5

Didn’t look entirely comfortable throughout especially in the face of Malo Gusto’s first-half raids.

IBRAHIMA KONATE – 5

Caught napping by Nicolas Jackson’s run three minutes into the second half for Chelsea’s equaliser.

VIRGIL VAN DIJK – 7

He has his assassins back home in the Netherlands but again showed imperious defensive abilities.

ANDY ROBERTSON – 6

The Scotland captain is often praised more for his attacking qualities than his defensive ones, but goodness me – what a brilliant last-second block.

RYAN GRAVENBERCH – 7

Only played 12 games in Jurgen Klopp’s final season but showed again why he’s now an automatic choice for Slot.

CURTIS JONES – 9

Outstanding all over the pitch, won one pen when it should have been two, plus grabbed a poacher’s winner.

DOMINIK SZOBOSZLAI– 5

Again suggested he flatters to deceive, too often playing at a slower tempo than those around him.

MOHAMED SALAH – 7

What’s left to say about Anfield’s Egyptian king and his ultimate cool shot from the spot?

DIOGO JOTA – 4

Forced off after playing in pain after Tosin Adarabioyo hauled him to the deck early on.

CODY GAKPO – 5

Flitted in and out of the action, the Dutch wide man didn’t look that shocked to be replaced.

SUBS
DARWIN NUNEZ (for Jota 30) – 5
Still a work in progress, says Slot – but working much harder off the ball.

LUIS DIAZ (for Gakpo 65) – 5
Ever-willing to shows that feisty left-sided pace of his.

ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER ( for Curtis Jones 81) 5
Ill in midweek but as the Argentine always does, got stuck in.

JOE GOMEZ (for Trent Alexander-Arnold 81) – 5
A few welcome minutes for the defender now down the pecking order.

He said: “Everyone can have their opinion but I know, a lot of people know opinions can change every three days now in terms of people saying someone can win the league and someone can’t.

“There is no point listening to any of that. I don’t do that.

“I focus on one game at a time, I want to be successful, I want to win trophies in every competition we’re in, I want to try and win it.

“We know how difficult it is but I am going to give it a very good go.”

Van Dijk has also placed credit on Slot for the club’s new tactical approach to matches.

He added: “I think it is the work we put in and it starts up front. That is the most important thing.

“You saw Darwin (Nunez) coming on against Chelsea, winning balls on the edge of our box and that is a good sign.

“It’s obviously a good basis to have because if you are defensively solid and you’re not conceding many goals or any goals at all, I think that is always a good way to success.

“I think at the start of the season, we saw numbers about what happens if your opponent is in the final third, how many bodies do we have behind the ball and I would say that has definitely changed.

“I wouldn’t say it’s [just] the last line and the goalkeepers making a difference, especially it’s the guys in front of us again, so it’s a team effort.

“I know how it works, me and Ibou (Ibrahima Konate) as the centre-backs or the goalkeepers will get the credit for the clean sheets but it’s all about everyone in the team and credit to everyone who is doing that.

“And I am happy with the clean sheets, so hopefully we can get a lot more this season and be successful.”

Alanis will head to the UK and Ireland next summer

Now the Glastonbury rumour mill has kicked off in style, strongly suggesting Alanis Morissette will be bagging a headline slot.

It came after she revealed four UK shows for next summer as well as a gig on June 29 in Dublin, Ireland.

This will be followed by a date in Belfast on June 30 before the Ironic hitmaker heads to Cardiff on July 2.

She will then perform in quaint Lancashire seaside town Lytham on July 4 before rounding off her UK stint the following night in Glasgow.

Head Over Feet songstress Alanis posted an exciting message addressing her wider tour dates across Europe and South America and wrote on Facebook: “Super excited to share that I’m heading to South America this coming spring and Europe next summer to play a handful of shows and festivals.

“Absolutely cannot wait to connect with all of you.

“Pre-sale for my non-festival headline dates begins tomorrow, 22/10 @ 9am local in Europe and @ 10am local in South America – sign up to my mailing list by tonight @ 10pm CEST/9pm BST to get the code.”

She added: “All dates are on sale this friday, 25/10 @ 10am CEST/9am BST,” before she teased: “p.s. more international dates coming soon.”

This led fans to believe Glastonbury could be top of her list.

One fan took to social media to remark: “Safe bet she’s doing Glastonbury then as she’s in the UK at the same time it’s held!”

A second put: “This has to be the first ever Glastonbury appearance for Alanis.”

A third agreed and added: “That’s exactly what I think because the dates are so close together – will she headline or will it be the Legends Slot on Sunday teatime? x”

One then replied: “She might headline on the Friday – watch this space x”

POTENTIAL ACTS

It isn’t the first time Alanis’ name has been mentioned in the same breath as Glastonbury 2025.

Alanis Morissette - UK 2025 Tour Dates

ALANIS Morissette is tipped for Glastonbury 2025 - yet what are her tour dates next year?

ALANIS will play in Belfast on June 30, 2025, before the Ironic hitmaker heads to Cardiff on July 2.

She will then perform in quaint Lancashire seaside town Lytham on July 4.

The Ironic hitmaker will round off her UK stint the following night in Glasgow.

She has also been rumoured to join Simple Minds on the headline list.

StingJustin Timberlake and Texas will also be free over varying dates over the June 25 to June 29 schedule.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, fan account The Glasto Thingy wrote: “A few acts with dates announced just after or around Glastonbury.

“For some reason I think Simple Minds are probably the most likely, but COME ON ALANIS!”

They also flagged: “The official Glastonbury website has had an update, including BSL links and changeable colour options.

“Hopefully this is a sign that the 2025 ticket news is on the way!”

It comes after The Sun revealed One Direction singer Harry Styles had been approached by festival organiser Emily Eavis about headlining the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm.

The Sign Of The Times hitmaker has never played at Glastonbury, but our mole reckons he would be their dream booking.

A source said: “Harry would be the perfect Glastonbury headliner and Emily has long wanted him on stage at Worthy Farm, but the dates have never quite worked out.”
