Ryan Seacrest ‘forced to work in Pat Sajak’s shadow even longer’ after Celebrity Wheel of Fortune abruptly postponed

RYAN Seacrest has been forced to work in former host Pat Sajak’s shadow for “even longer” after Celebrity Wheel of Fortune was suddenly postponed this week.

Ryan, 49, took over as Wheel of Fortune host for Season 42 after Pat, 77, retired from the game show.

Despite his retirement, Pat stayed on as host of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune for Season 5, which was slated to premiere in October 2024.

Earlier this month, it was announced the game show will be postponed to 2025 because of scheduling conflicts.

A source exclusively revealed to The U.S. Sun how the schedule change has Ryan in the iconic host’s shadow for even longer.

“You have to feel for Ryan Seacrest because he’s willing to work in Pat’s shadow for longer than he expected he would have to when he signed up to take over ‘Wheel,’” the source said.

“If Ryan negotiates a longer-term contract this year, which is expected since he’s only under a two-year deal at the moment, he’s going to have to stake a very strong claim on the primetime specials and celebrity editions.

“And why shouldn’t he? Ryan has endless experience as a primetime host, his ‘Wheel’ ratings so far are amazing, and he is more experienced than Pat when it comes to bantering with celebrities on camera.

“Ryan is respectful of Pat and his legacy, but everybody involved with the show expects him to take a lot more ownership of the franchise once Pat has truly left the building once and for all.”

As for the schedule change, the insider said the choice was an “ABC network decision and Sony TV.”

“The ‘Wheel’ producers and Pat are at the mercy of the network’s schedule.  Football is always going to come first. It’s the most profitable thing on television.

“Of course, Sony and Pat would prefer the episodes to air closer to when they were taped, but there is an upside here for Pat, who is suddenly a competitive force in the next game show host Emmy race after surprising everybody with his ’23-24 Emmy win earlier this fall.

“It probably helps Pat to put some distance between that win and the next – and final – time voters see him in the hosting job, but this wasn’t the initial plan, and it makes Pat’s eventual exit from the franchise look like a long goodbye.’

“That was never the intention.”

RYAN’S SUCCESS

Though Ryan has had a rocky start to his debut season, ratings don’t reflect his struggles.

The U.S. Sun previously reported 8,310,000 viewers watched Wheel of Fortune for the premiere week of September 9 to September 15.

As for rival game show Jeopardy!, which is hosted by Ken Jennings, 7,113,000 viewers tuned in for the episodes.

Wheel of Fortune taking over the top spot is a shock, as Jeopardy! brought in more viewers overall last season.

RYAN’S MISTAKES

Ryan had trouble adjusting to his role as host during the first few episodes.

On the premiere show, a contestant mispronounced the word “ripened” while solving a puzzle.

Ryan ignored the mishap and granted the player the win.

“I thought he said the wrong word, but when Ryan said he was correct, I assumed I had misheard,” one fan wrote on Instagram.

“Why would the producers allow him to win the puzzle when he was wrong? Not a good way to start the new season, especially with a new host,” another viewer added.

“I don’t like the fact that Terry mispronounced the winning trip puzzle, and he won it!!!! Pat would have said, ‘I’m sorry, Terry, that’s not the answer,'” another said.

“I agree – I agree, Ryan is fired after the first episode,” a viewer demanded.

On his second night as host, he failed to explain the rules to a contestant, resulting in her losing a million-dollar prize.

“Pat would’ve explained that if she took the risk, she would’ve lost the million-dollar wedge,” one X user wrote.

“Pat would always remind the contestants if they look under the $10,000 they could lose their $1 million wedge. Ryan needs to do this too…” wrote a second.

Then on the September 16 episode, contestant Vivian made it to the bonus round to solve the “What Are You Doing?” puzzle.

Vivan picked “C, H, M, and P” for consonants, while she picked the letter “I” for her vowel.

Vivian screamed out trying to solve the puzzle, “Wondering some help, answering some help, finding some help, looking around for some help, boundary for help.”

The buzzer then went off, as Vivian couldn’t solve the puzzle, which read “offering some help.”

Ryan showed the audience the prize, and they gasped when they saw $1 million.

Ryan smiled and laughed as he said, “You were so close to that million dollars. You almost had it.”

Vivan had trouble speaking and looked visibly upset as Ryan said, “Are you alright? Breathe! You’re still walking away with $27,300 and that trip to Europe.”

Fans weren’t happy with how Ryan handled the loss.

One viewer wrote, “Ryan doesn’t show the envelope correctly. He keeps showing it to the contestant when he should be showing it to the audience and viewers at home.

“Also, he didn’t handle the distraught contestant too well.”

A second agreed, “I hear ya. It’s more devastating maybe than he realizes.”

A third complained, “He’s gotta work on his empathy skills. Lol yikes!! Can he even remember what it’s like to not be rich?!”

Wheel of Fortune's universe is more vast than fans realize. Here's a look at the key staffmembers of America's most iconic puzzle-based game show:

‘ENTERTAINMENT PRO’

But fortunately for Ryan, fans believe he has finally gotten into his “groove” after over a month of hosting.

“Seacrest found his groove so quickly on this show that I have to say I’m super impressed even as someone who has never really cared for him,” one fan wrote on Reddit.

“I’m definitely shocked at how much I’ve enjoyed watching him. Gotta give it to him: he’s a TV entertainment pro.”

A second said, “He has definitely shown vast improvement so far. I feel like he still needs a bit of work on the sympathy quips where someone has to go home with the minimum or doesn’t win the bonus prize.”

A third commented, “Agree, the first month I couldn’t help but compare Ryan’s timing with Pat’s, ie. quips and banter with players, announcing a win, revealing something.

“Pat had a comic background and is naturally gifted with timing, snappy but also at ease when needed, and I suppose Ryan can get trained on that over time. But this week it felt like he was really in his groove.”

Teen Mom Jenelle Evans’ ex Nathan Griffith to finally reunite with son Kaiser after she ‘sends boy to grandma’s’

TEEN Mom Jenelle Evans’ ex Nathan Griffith is to finally reunite with his son Kaiser after she handed the 10-year-old over to his grandmother.

An insider close to the situation exclusively tells The U.S. Sun that while Kaiser’s dad still lives in Las Vegas, and not Tennessee, where his son resides, that is expected to change in the coming weeks.

Kaiser’s dad, Nathan Griffith, is still living in Vegas, but since Kaiser has been moved, the former Teen Mom 2 star has requested his probation be moved to Tennessee[/caption]

“Nate’s not in Tennessee yet, so I don’t know why Jenelle was claiming she moved Kaiser there to be with his dad, but he has been working on getting his probation transferred there for Kaiser, and it’s looking like his move has been approved,” the insider said.

They added that Jenelle sent Kaiser to Tennessee once Child Protective Services got involved.

Nathan is currently on probation after allegedly strangling his sister in 2023.

He was charged with battery by strangulation.

It was only after the 10-year-old moved in with his grandmother that Nathan, 37, began working on getting his probation transferred there.

The Teen Mom 2 star previously claimed she shipped the 10-year-old to his grandmother’s to be with his dad, despite Nathan not yet being there or him having made any formal moves to relocate his probation there – at least until after his son was moved.

The insider added that Nathan, who was recently moved from in-patient rehab to a gentler outpatient version of the program in Vegas, felt torn about the move home with his mother and son.

“Nathan feels like he wasn’t ready to make these big decisions for Kaiser and wanted to keep focusing on his rehab and recovery since he’s made some good progress,” they said.

“Ultimately though he decided that he is comfortable moving back in with his mother and thinks that could end up being good for him.

“He now sees Kaiser’s move as a possible blessing in disguise for both him and Kaiser,” the insider added.

The U.S. Sun reached out to Nathan for comment.

As The U.S. Sun previously reported, an insider exclusively revealed CPS has once again become involved with Jenelle‘s household after a series of events involving authorities in her new hometown.

CPS INVOLVEMENT

According to an insider, CPS became aware of her manager-turned-boyfriend calling 911 on the Teen Mom star on August 31.

In that call, reviewed by The U.S. Sun, he accused her of “hitting” him all day and told the operator she consumed up to 12 drinks.

Additionally, CPS was made aware of two incidents involving her sons, Kaiser and Jace, 15, at their schools in recent weeks.

CPS is very familiar with Jenelle in her home state of North Carolina, as The U.S. Sun has extensively reported.

The source alleged that Jenelle sent Kaiser to live with his grandmother in Tennessee because of CPS’ involvement.

That insider claimed that the 10-year-old was involved in an incident at school and could no longer attend.

The U.S. Sun is not disclosing the nature of the incidents at Kaiser and Jace’s schools to protect their privacy.

The source claimed that after the incident at Kaiser’s school, CPS came to Jenelle’s and left a card on her door that she needed to call them, as she wasn’t home.

Meanwhile, a second source said there was an alleged incident at Jace’s school just weeks before the one at Kaiser’s.

The first insider told The U.S. Sun that CPS has been in contact with Kaiser’s grandmother, Doris Davidson.

When approached for comment, Doris said, “My job is to see that Kaiser is protected from all this negativity.

“Kaiser can now read, and he doesn’t need to read negative things about his mother or father.

“I refuse to partake in mudslinging and measures to destroy one’s character, even if I disagree with their actions.”

CPS told The U.S. Sun: “Due to child confidentiality laws, we are unable to provide comment.”

Jenelle’s manager-turned-boyfriend August responded to The U.S. Sun, “Well that’s completely not true lol.”

JENELLE’S STORY

Earlier this week, Jenelle admitted to Celebuzz that her middle child was living with his grandmother in Tennessee, claiming, “The reason why I wanted Kaiser to be with his father is because Kaiser is at the age where it’s important for him and his father and his father’s family to spend time with one another.

“Kaiser loves Nathan’s family and Nathan can also use some time with his son.”

As The U.S. Sun previously reported, Nathan is still living in Vegas at this time.

NEW LIFE IN SIN CITY

The Teen Mom 2 star moved from her hometown in North Carolina to Las Vegas after filing for separation from her ex-husband of six years after he allegedly strangled her oldest son Jace, 15.

David was initially charged with misdemeanor child abuse in October of 2023; however, in January of 2024, those charges were upgraded to a felony after a grand jury indictment.

David shares daughter Ensley, 8, with Jenelle and he has two other children with two other partners.

After the incident on September 28, 2023, Jace told authorities that David strangled him in front of a nearby neighbor’s house.

After that alleged incident, the teen ran away from his reality star mother’s home for a third time.

Jenelle and David's relationship timeline

The tumultuous pair have had their fair share of falling outs

Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans met David Eason on Tinder in September of 2015.

Jenelle got pregnant in April 2016 and announced she suffered a miscarriage, then she became pregnant again with her and David’s daughter, Ensley, a few months later.

The pair got engaged in February 2017 and tied the knot that September.

A year after saying “I do,” Jenelle called 911 and accused David of assaulting her outside their home. She would later call the incident “a drunk and dramatic misunderstanding” and said she was “fine.”

In around May 2019, David shot and killed their French bulldog puppy named Nugget. Weeks after the incident, CPS took custody of all of the children, including their daughter, Ensley, Jenelle’s son, Kaiser, and David’s daughter, Maryssa.

When her children were returned to her, Jenelle fled to Tennessee with Kaiser and Ensley and filed an order of protection against David in October. She ultimately dropped the case and went back to him.

In the following years, the couple sparked split rumors as the pair would often unfollow each other on social media and update their Facebook relationship statuses.

As The U.S. Sun exclusively reported, on February 23, 2024, Jenelle filed for separation from David. She stated that she filed the documents with “the intent that the separation be permanent” and claimed that Eason had “exhibited concerning and at times disturbing behavior towards [her]” throughout their marriage.

In the aftermath of the alleged incident, North Carolina Child Protective Services swooped in and took custody of Jace from Jenelle.

The teen stayed in CPS custody for nearly half a year before the agency suddenly dropped the case in early 2024.

As CPS handed back custody of Jace to Jenelle, she faced a dilemma.

David was still living in their marital home, and there was a restraining order against him, which banned him from being around the teen.

The 36-year-old father of three moved to the couple’s docked boat at a nearby marina, and Jenelle soon after filed for separation.

JENELLE’S DIVORCE DEMANDS

Jenelle finally filed for separation after six years of marriage.

In that time, the tumultuous pair had multiple 911 calls and restraining orders before she pulled the trigger, ending their relationship.

Since then, the reality star has been granted temporary sole custody of Ensley and is asking the court for primary physical custody of her.

Surfer, 36, impaled in the chest by swordfish in deadly freak attack off coast of paradise island

A SURFER has been killed after she was impaled in the chest in a freak swordfish attack.

Giulia Manfrini, 36, was travelling off the coast of a paradise island in Indonesia before the deadly encounter with the sea creature left her with a fatal two-inch wound.

The 36-year-old Italian had moved to Bali to work as a surfing instructor in recent years[/caption]

The Italian surfing coach was happily riding the waves off Masokut Island, in the luxury Mentawai Islands in West Sumatra on Friday.

After only a short time of surfing, Giulia was caught out by a leaping swordfish who sprung out of the water and stabbed her in the chest.

The sharp blow is said to have gone around two inches deep into her flesh and left the Italian trapped beneath the water.

Two panicked surfers in Alexandre Ribas and Massimo Ferro saw the tragedy unfold as they ran over to help the stricken woman.

They battled to keep her alive despite the severe wound before rushing her to the Pei Pei Pasakiat Taileleu Health Centre.

Doctors declared Giulia dead on arrival.

It is still unclear if she drowned after becoming submerged underwater following the fatal attack or died from her wounds.

AKP Hadi Yasmar, head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mentawai Police said: “The incident happened when the victim was surfing with two of her friends in the waters of Bengbeng Pulau Masokut, Pasakiat Taileleu Village, Southwest Siberut District.

“The victim suffered a five-centimetre wound to the left chest, and when she was found, the condition of her face showed that she had been submerged for a moment.

“She may have drowned.”

The news of her death has shocked us all, we feel helpless in the face of a tragedy that cut short her life so prematurely

Fabio Giulivi Sindacomayor of Venaria Reale

Authorities announced Giulia’s body is due to be taken to Padang City before being returned to Italy.

The mayor of Giulia’s home city of Venaria Reale has since spoken out on the “shocking” death.

Fabio Giulivi Sindaco said in a statement: “The whole community offers its condolences to her family.

“The news of her death has shocked us all, we feel helpless in the face of a tragedy that cut short her life so prematurely.”

Giulia was an aspiring law graduate who had already left her mark on the world after founding the Awave Travel company which specialises in popular tourist destinations for skiers and snowboarders.

In recent years the 36-year-old moved to Bali to work as a surfing instructor.

Many tourists and expats have been killed in animal attacks in Indonesia in recent months.

In September, a US tourist was eaten by a shark after she was swept away by strong currents during a dream diving holiday.

The body of 68-year-old American Colleen Monfore from South Dakota, was found inside the stomach of a shark by horrified fishermen.

Locals are also at risk of fatal strikes with herds of elephants trampling on a woman and her unborn child in September.

And a gran was nearly devoured whole by a crocodile in August.

New ‘rallying cry’ as Government calls on the nation to ‘help fix our NHS’ by sharing your experiences

BRITS have been urged to share their experiences and ideas “to help fix our NHS” in a “rallying cry” from the Government.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting called on the nation to help shape the government’s 10-Year Health Plan through a major consultation, billed as a “national conversation”.

You can use the NHS app to share your experience[/caption]

Members of the public, NHS staff and health experts are being asked to share their experiences, views and ideas on how the health service can be improved.

Billed as “the biggest national conversation about the future of the NHS since its birth”, people will be able to share their views via change.nhs.uk or on the NHS app until the start of next year.

Announcing the consultation, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said: “My mum worked for the NHS, my sister worked for the NHS, and my wife still works for the NHS – so I know first-hand how difficult it has been for staff, and for patients battling against a broken system for over a decade.

“But it’s time to roll up our sleeves and fix it.

“We have a clear plan to fix the health service, but it’s only right that we hear from the people who rely on the NHS every day to have their say and shape our plan as we deliver it.

“Together we can build a healthcare system that puts patients first and delivers the care that everyone deserves.

“We have a huge opportunity to put the NHS back on its feet. So let’s be the generation that took the NHS from the worst crisis in its history and made it fit for the future.”

The health secretary – who was treated for kidney cancer in 2021 – urged the public to “help us build a health service fit for the future”.

He said he wants NHS staff and patients to have their “fingerprints all over” the 10-year plan.

He said: “When I was diagnosed with kidney cancer, the NHS saved my life, as it has for so many people across our country.

“We all owe the NHS a debt of gratitude for a moment in our lives when it was there for us, when we needed it. Now we have a chance to repay that debt.

“Today the NHS is going through the worst crisis in its history. But, while the NHS is broken, it’s not beaten. Together, we can fix it.”

The consultation is part of the Government’s plans to transform the NHS into a “neighbourhood health service”, shifting more care from hospitals to communities.

The plan is expected to be published in spring 2025, and would see the formation of new neighbourhood health centres where patients will be able to see GPs, district nurses, care workers, physiotherapists, health visitors and mental health specialists in the same place.

How to have your say

Here's how you can take part in the consultation.

The Government has launched its online consultation at change.NHS.uk, which will also be available through the NHS app.

The consultation will be open until the end of the year, with the final version of the 10-year plan expected to be published in the spring of 2025.

The consultation is open to the entire nation.

Members of the public, clinicians and experts can all have their say.

The plan is expected to be published in spring 2025 and will also see greater use of data and technology and easier sharing of patient data, by putting all patient health information, test results and letters on the NHS app.

The Government estimates this will save 140,000 hours of staff time every year.

As part of its plan to “move from sickness to prevention”, the Goverment will also look into giving patients with diabetes or high blood pressure smart watches and other wearable tech so they can monitor their own health at own home.

NHS chief executive Amanda Pritchard said it was “vital” that the service “innovates and adapts” as it faces “an unprecedented number of challenges”.

She said: “The 10 Year Health Plan is a chance to make the best practice, normal practice across the country.

“So, we will be carrying out the largest ever staff engagement exercise in NHS history and leaving no stone unturned as we seek to harness frontline views, alongside those of patients and the public, to ensure this happens.

“It is your experiences – good, bad, and sometimes frustrating – that we need to help shape this once in a generation opportunity, so please get involved.”

Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey urged the Government to show “ambition” in its plans, or risk the consultation “becoming a talking shop“.

He said: “We know that primary care services across the country are at the brink of collapse due to the Conservative Party’s disgraceful neglect, with patients paying the price.

“Whether it is sky-high GP waiting lists, endless ambulance response times, or a failure to diagnose cancer in time, none of these issues can be fixed without fixing the crisis in social care.

“That is why the Liberal Democrats will make sure that social care is part of the debate and push for a cross-party solution to this crisis.”

Mr Streeting has previously talked about three “big shifts” he wants to see in the NHS.

The first is from hospitals to the community, with more care being delivered closer to people’s homes.

The second shift is from treatment to prevention, with a greater focus on keeping people healthy.

The third shift involves greater use of digital technology in general, including by creating a single, digital patient record to speed up the sharing of information about a patient and prevent them from having to repeat their medical history at every appointment.
