BROOKLYN-BORN rapper Ka has died at age 52.

Ka, who was born Kaseem Ryan, died unexpectedly on Saturday, his family said.

“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Kaseem Ryan (1972-2024), the rapper and producer known as Ka, who died unexpectedly in New York City on October 12, at the age of 52,” a statement shared on Ka’s Instagram read.

“Born and raised in Brownsville, Brooklyn, Ka lived a life of service – to his city, to his community, and to his music.

“As a 20-year veteran of the New York City Fire Department, he put his life on the line to protect his fellow citizens.

“Ka rose to the rank of FDNY captain and was a first responder on September 11, 2001, during the attacks on the World Trade Center.

“He leaves an extraordinary legacy as a recording artist, including eleven remarkable self-released solo albums.”

A cause of death was not immediately disclosed.

Ka’s death comes on the heels of his latest solo album, The Thief Next to Jesus, which was released in September.

The Brownville native emerged on the rap scene in 1994 as a member of the underground group Natural Elements.

In 2008, Ka embarked on a solo career, delivering a hard-hitting, raw verse on GZA’s Firehouse song featured on his album Pro Tools.

That same year, Ka released his first debut album, Iron Works.

His two albums, The Nights Gambit and The Thief Next to Jesus were ranked among the best albums in 2013 and 2024 by Vulture.

Ka spoke about his double life as a firefighter captain and a lyrical underground MC in a 2013 interview.

“I have a full-time job, and I work all the time. I try to keep that kinda low,” Ka told Complex at the time.

“I just have a job. It ain’t my calling or nothing. It’s just my job. But I love my job because it gives me the freedom to do the art.

“I feel like if I didn’t have a job, that’s when I would have to compromise myself a little bit more.”

The New Yorker dubbed Ka “the last underground rapper” in 2021.

Fans mourned Ka’s death on social media, paying tribute to the “illest to ever do it.”

“My absolute favorite artist has passed away. Rest in peace, King,” one fan wrote with a heartbreak emoji.

A second commented, “Damn rip, legendary pen.”

“Speechless, feels unreal. His music legacy is immortal,” another said.

Amazon is also offering a pre-assembled tiny home for $20,000 which can be assembled in seven hours.

Measuring 20 feet, the home is fully insulated and comes with pre-assembled plumbing, which provides hot and cold water in the kitchen and bathroom.

However, the manufacturers suggest employing a team, including a plumber, to assemble the tiny home.

Altogether, the 375-square-foot open layout includes two bedrooms, one bathroom, one kitchen, and one living room.

While tiny homes continue to trend, DIYers have been converting many spaces into the home of their dreams.

Those looking for a cheaper living alternative have turned old ambulances, school buses, shipping containers, and even sheds into homes.

These are also gaining popularity among eco-conscious homeowners looking to reduce their carbon footprint.

Tiny homes may also be customizable to fit specific needs.

However, tiny homes may be a gray area in some states and cities as they have differing regulations.

Plus, like all homes, they must be built to code.

Some restrictions may include a minimum ceiling height of 6 feet, 8 inches, at least one bathroom, and at least two means of escape in case of a fire or other emergency. 

DEION Sanders’ son went viral on social media – and for the wrong reasons.

Colorado Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders, the son of the team’s head coach, Deion, was part of a jaw-dropping play during the team’s college football game against the Kansas State Wildcats last weekend.

Shilo had missed the previous three games with a forearm injury and returned to play versus Kansas State.

However, his rust was shown throughout the game as he missed several tackles on Saturday night evening.

Deion was not happy with Shilo’s play during the Colorado loss.

“I thought he played horrible,” he told reporters following the game.

“I thought he was rusty, he didn’t have his footing.

“I thought he wasn’t breaking down, he was coming up trying to make the play but open field, one-on-one tackling with that kind of back, that ain’t an easy task.

“But he’s going to do better, I know what he has in him.”

Shilo finished with seven tackles.

He wasn’t the only player to disappoint on the Buffaloes’ defense as the unit struggled in general, allowing the Jayhawks to record 426 yards of total offense.

The subpar showing from Colorado’s defense spoiled a strong performance from star quarterback Shadeur Sanders, who threw for 388 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception.

Muhammad found himself on the receiving end of an X-rated rant from the former two-division champ late last month and responded by mocking the Irishman over his octagon hiatus.

And he felt McGregor’s wrath again last Sunday in a since-deleted tweet as he went back and forth with UFC men’s featherweight champ Ilia Topuria.

He wrote on X: “I’d love to crush my left hook into Belal’s temple and take down the triple crown.

“I’d do it easily. And fast! I’d cave his skull heavy.”

Palestinian-born American Muhammad became the king of the welterweights in July with a dominant five-round display over Brit Leon Edwards in Manchester.

His dethroning of Edwards capped off an incredible run, in which he knocked off former title challengers Stephen Thompson and Gilbert Burns as well as highly-touted prospect Sean Brady.

But McGregor has been less than impressed by the 36-year-old’s body of work in his run to welterweight gold.

He continued: “To think this bum is now a UFC champion with zero knockdowns on his resume whatsoever is so bad.

McGregor, 36, hasn’t set foot inside the octagon since breaking his left leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

The Dubliner was supposed to make his cage comeback against Michael Chandler in June but was forced out of their long-overdue clash with a broken left pinky toe.

McGregor revealed to SunSport that he was eyeing a December return, although the UFC brass have pushed the rescheduled return of the Mac into 2025.

And he claimed last weekend that he’s on course to return to the cage on February 1.

When quizzed about his cage comeback, he told MMA reporter Donagh Corby: “February 1, Saudi Arabia. Dan Hooker.”
