O’Sullivan’s record-breaking trophy haul also includes eight Masters and eight UK championships.

However, The Rocket – worth over £14million – has hinted at retirement several times already this year.

He’s already admitted he wants to take up a role as a RUNNING coach when he puts down his cue.

But it seems O’Sullivan also plans on remaining involved in snooker.

That’s because the ace has opened his own academy in Saudi Arabia.

The facility will help develop the sport’s best talents from around the world.

And O’Sullivan is sure to keep an eagle-eye out for prodigies who could one day match his own achievements.

“This will be the perfect place to develop future stars locally and globally.”

Fans were certainly left amazed by it.

One said: “Congratulations Ronnie.”

Another declared: “Go Ronnie boy.”

One noted: “Congratulations, you are the GOAT.”

Another added: “Just when you think he’s done it all… to greater heights.”

Inside Ronnie's colourful career

FROM his lightning breaks to blasts at officials, Ronnie O'Sullivan has fired snooker into the spotlight.

The seven-time world champion makes almost as big an impact away from the table as on it.

O’Sullivan has three children – two daughters and a son.

And the Rocket’s on-off relationship with British actress Laila Rouass has also hit the headlines.

He has opened up on battles with his weight and addiction.

While the controversial cueist reckons he wasted NINE YEARS of his career by partying too hard.

Despite being worth £14million, O’Sullivan is renowned for his love of canal boats and snubbing flashy cars.

His rivalry with fellow star Judd Trump has been branded ‘snooker’s greatest feud’.

And Ali Carter had his nose knocked out of joint by the Rocket in their infamous ‘Snotgate’ row.

Millions of unemployed Brits will get FREE fat-loss jabs under Health Secretary’s plans to ‘get them back to work’

UNEMPLOYED Brits could be given free weight-loss jabs under plans being drawn up by Wes Streeting.

The Health Secretary wants to use drugs including Ozempic and Mounjaro to kickstart a major back-to-work drive.

It comes as the government last night confirmed that pharmaceutical giant Lilly will invest £279 million into developing new drugs and treatment in the UK[/caption]

Mr Streeting admitted that “widening waistbands” are putting a huge strain on the NHS.

But he said that fat jabs could provide a two-pronged solution, both easing pressure on the ailing health service and encouraging the unemployed back into work.

This morning Sir Keir Starmer backed the move, suggesting jabs could help boost the nation’s health and economic growth.

The PM told BBC Breakfast: “I think these drugs could be very important for our economy and for health.

“This drug will be very helpful to people who want to lose weight, need to lose weight, very important for the economy so people can get back into work.

“We’ve got to reduce the pressure on the NHS.

“So this will help in all of those areas.”

It comes as the government last night confirmed that pharmaceutical giant Lilly will invest £279 million into developing new drugs and treatment in the UK.

Writing in The Telegraph, the Health Secretary said: “Our widening waistbands are also placing significant burden on our health service, costing the NHS £11bn a year – even more than smoking.

“And it’s holding back our economy.

“Illness caused by obesity causes people to take an extra four sick days a year on average, while many others are forced out of work altogether.”

A five-year trial run by Lilly, assessing the impact of weight loss drugs on the unemployed, is set to take place in Greater Manchester.

However, despite promising results from similar such trials, Mr Streeting warned that Brits must continue to take “healthy living more seriously”.

He added that the “NHS can’t be expected to always pick up the tab for unhealthy lifestyles”.

The Health Secretary also cautioned against adults using the jab to achieve the “perfect” body.

He said: “I think the drugs can make a really big impact in terms of getting weight under control.

“Some encouraging signs around prevention of cardiovascular disease, big killers, heart disease, heart attack, stroke, there is really big potential there.

“Where I think we’ve just got to be careful, though, is that we don’t see these drugs as an excuse not to do the right thing in terms of our diet, nutrition, exercise, or to use them as cosmetic drugs for the Instagram perfect body.”

Studies of patients taking the Mounjaro jab found they shed more than a fifth of their body weight in eight months.

The drug is due to be offered to 1.6 million people on the NHS as part of a phased roll out over the next 12 years.

Exact minute to see Super Hunter’s Moon this week at its biggest and brightest

THE HUNTER’S Moon is set to be visible in the sky this week, becoming the third consecutive supermoon of 2024.

It will also be the brightest supermoon of the year, according to Nasa.

The earliest written use of the term Hunter’s Moon is from a copy of the Oxford English Dictionary, dating back to 1710[/caption]

The lunar disk will appear up to 14 per cent brighter and 30 per cent bigger than when the Moon is at its dimmest.

It follows the Harvest Moon in September, which was accompanied by a partial lunar eclipse.

The Hunter’s Moon, also known as the Sanguine or Blood Moon, gets its name from the time of year it takes place.

Mid-October is when tribes used to come together to gather meat for the long winter ahead, according to the Farmer’s Almanac.

Though it is also characterised by occasionally appearing red or orange in colour.

The earliest written use of the term Hunter’s Moon is from a copy of the Oxford English Dictionary, dating back to 1710.

However, the Moon symbolises many different things for other cultures.

For example, for Buddhists, this Moon marks the end of Vassa, a three-month period of fasting for monks that is tied to the monsoons.

While in Myanmar, the October supermoon commences with the three-day Thadingyut Festival of Lights.

Why will the moon appear bigger and brighter?

The Moon appearing bigger and brighter at this time is not an illusion.

The lunar disk will actually be closer to Earth than it is normally.

The Moon travels around Earth in an elliptical orbit – an orbit that is oval shaped.

This means that there are points where the Moon appears closer to Earth, and further away.

“Each month, the moon passes through the point closest to Earth (perigee) and the point farthest from Earth (apogee),” Nasa explains.

“When the moon is at or near its closest point to Earth at the same time as it is full, it is called a “supermoon.””

Where and where to see the display

The Hunter’s Moon will be visible on 17 October at 12:26pm (7:26am EDT) exactly, according to the Royal Greenwich Observatory.

Around this time, the Moon will look especially full for roughly three days – from Tuesday evening to Friday morning.

From Friday morning, the Moon will start to dim again, returning to its usual size.

However, while it will retract into a waning gibbous, its moonshine does risk obscuring the view of the Orionids meteor shower.

The annual meteor shower will peak in visibility between 21 and 22 October.

The Orionids are the rocky debris from Comet Halley, and will cast up to 25 shooting stars per hour in the night sky.

What is the Unschooling trend on TikTok?

TIKTOKERS have jumped on the latest unschooling trend and it has gained traction quickly but now an education expert is warning parents of joining the trend.

On the social media platform, #unschooling has already garnered 30k posts with videos addressing the topic having been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

The trend has caught the attention of parents but in turn, this has caused some concern amongst experts.

In particular, the worry is that families choose to follow what the algorithm picks for their feed rather than the best decision for them and their children.

The trend promotes child-led learning and straying from the national curriculum[/caption]

Unschooling on social media refers to a similar teaching style to homeschooling.

Often parents suggest having a less rigorous structure and allow a child-led day-to-day.

Not only does this allow a child more free reign to focus on what they enjoy but it could offer benefits of deciding how and what to learn.

Unschooling original started in the US but has already gathered speed online in the UK too.

When did the trend start?

Kelsey Rhae’s TikTok video explaining her thoughts between the differences of unschooling and home schooling has been watched more than 1.8 million times[/caption]

One video posted by Kelsey Rhae on TikTok has been played 1.8 million times, as of October 15 2024.

In the clip, she speaks to the camera to explain the different between unschooling and public school.

The video has been liked nearly 200k times and saved by over 30k users, showing the sheer volume of parents hoping to grasp the latest trend.

Talking to others on social media, Kelsey Rhae said: “There’s public school, online public school, there’s home school and then there’s unschool.

“Homeschool you’re still using the school curriculum to teach your child and you still have to turn in paperwork to the government.”

She added that she does not want “to check boxes” about her “life” and her “child”.

That is the reason she has the “mindset” that they “have to do this”.

Google searches have also seen a spike with an increase in queries over the last three months.

What have experts said about the Unschooling trend on TikTok?

An education expert has recommended parents thoroughly research the trend before making a quick decision[/caption]

Director of Admissions for Leighton Park School has explained the concern of straying away from the national curriculum.

He told NetMums: “[Unschooling] emphasizes autonomy and natural curiosity over traditional schooling methods.”

John added that the trend could “lead to gaps in essential knowledge and skills”.

Despite some confusion amongst videos online, parents opting to unschool or homeschool do not have to legally stick to the national curriculum.

However, John advised that schools offer a structured integration between peers that allows for interactions that are important to take part in activities and soft life skills.

How do I know if the Unschooling trend is right for my child?

The term seems similar to home schooling but is not quite the same

John continued to suggest that those considering the trend should not make a haste decision.

Instead, they should thoroughly research the requirements and reasons for doing so.

Some parents may come to realize that the trend would not suit their child but others could find it helps them.

Other options could also be found outside of the social media offering, with a different school perhaps offering a better solution that rejecting the norm entirely.

Kroger apologizes after shopper says they’re ‘done’ with chain – they ‘felt like a fool after standing in lines 30 deep’

KROGER has apologized to a shopper after they lashed out at the retailer following their in-store experience.

The shopper claimed the store in Birmingham, Michigan, was a mess after the self-checkout machines malfunctioned.

They were incandescent with rage, claiming they “felt like a fool” waiting for assistance at the register, according to the X post.

The shopper said it was the last time they would use the Kroger outlet.

They claimed lines for the self-service machines were “30 deep.”

“Machines freezing up. Took over ten minutes to wait for a manager to override,” they said.

A Kroger spokesperson replied and apologized for the inconvenience the shopper seemed to be experiencing.

But the shopper wasn’t convinced by the retailer’s response and said: I’m done.”

Kroger invited the furious customer to send the chain a direct message as part of its probe.

Self-checkouts have been rolled out at major supermarket chains like Walmart and Kroger in a bid to help Americans shop more efficiently.

But despite the benefits of the machines, they have been the target of customer frustration.

The U.S. Sun has reported that customers have been so aggrieved by the state of checkout lines that they have walked out in defiance.

Shoppers have been less than impressed when they were reportedly told to use the self-service machines.

A Lowe’s shopper was stunned when they realized only a handful of self-checkout machines were open when they went to the hardware store to buy power tools.

Major chains like Walmart and Target have rolled out policies designed to ensure kiosks remain an option for speedy checkouts.

Target chiefs have implemented a policy that means customers can only scan a maximum of 10 items.

“Checking out is one of the most important moments of the Target run, and we know that a fast, easy experience — whether at self-checkout or the lanes staffed by our friendly team members — is critical to getting guests on their way quickly,” execs said.

A similar policy has been rolled out in some Walmart stores where only 15 items can be scanned.

In February, Schnucks bosses rolled out a version of the 10-item policy.

Chiefs at the time said they were imposing the measure because self-checkouts were susceptible to crime.

Bosses admitted the kiosks were deviating away from their original purpose.

But limits have not been welcomed as shoppers fume that the measures still produce lines that are backed up.
