BRAZEN criminals are destroying EV charging stations and scrapping them for parts, leaving drivers with nowhere to juice up their rides.
Eugene Vivino said his go-to EV station has been closed for months – despite him begging the company to fix the chargers.
In San Diego, California, shameless thieves have been cutting off EV charging cords and snatching circuit breakers, presumably to sell the copper found inside.
EVgo, one of the nation’s largest EV charging network companies, has been targeted by the disturbing crime trend, and they apparently can’t keep up with the damages.
Vivino, who relies on EVgo for regular refills, said one nearby station was completely wiped out in May and hasn’t been touched since.
Breakers were swiped from the chargers, and the cords were cut not long after, police said.
Now, he’s making a point to call out the company and urge for changes.
“People want to know they can charge without them having to wait, and they can charge quickly, just like you would fill up a gas car,” he told Fox affiliate KUSI.
According to Vivino’s EVgo app, three stations in San Diego are currently shut down, and no solution is in sight.
Now, thanks to the closures, he has to drive a whopping 20 minutes to his nearest station.
Vivino contacts EVgo monthly but still hasn’t received a direct answer on when the stations will be fixed.
“I tried reaching out to the company a lot of times,” he said.
“The only thing I ever heard back was yes, there’s breaker theft. No, we don’t have an answer on when it’s going to be fixed.”
The U.S. Sun has contacted EVgo for answers, but a spokesperson said the company is working with the government on longer-term solutions.
“Unfortunately, vandalism is a growing issue in the San Diego area,” EVgo communications director Katie Wallace told KUSI.
“EVgo is looking at ways to improve the resiliency of its network in light of increased vandalism in select markets, like San Diego.”
Vivino admitted that he’s being extra pushy with EVgo because he loves using their extra fast chargers.
He hopes that his story will spur the company to take action and force it to reinstate more accessible charging.
“Range anxiety,” or the fear of being stranded because of a lack of charging options, is one of the top issues that prevents drivers from ditching gas cars.
One driver said finding a station is a “constant negotiation” with others on the road as the chargers can get competitive.
In other EV-related news, Elon Musk has unveiled a driverless robot bus EV.
And a major car brand has delayed the production of an incoming electric model.

A TAYLOR Swift fan has been disenchanted after she spent nearly $800 on concert tickets only to watch them disappear from her account.
Megan Leiss bought four tickets to Swift’s Eras Tour in what started as a typical purchase with Ticketmaster over a year ago.
Leiss, a pharmacist based in Cincinnati, Ohio, charged the $792 cost to her credit card on August 11, 2023.
After a short break, Swift is set to continue her legendary Eras Tour with a final US leg starting on October 18.
Ahead of Leiss’ plans to go to the concert on November 1, the Swiftie recently went to check on her tickets in her Ticketmaster app – and found she couldn’t enter the site at all.
“In my case, I couldn’t even log in anymore,” Leiss told The U.S. Sun.
“It was saying there wasn’t an account associated with my email even though it’s the email that the order confirmation and mobile tickets were sent to and the email I got my presale verification code.”
She then went to her email account, where she found she couldn’t download the tickets from her previous confirmation message.
“I also couldn’t download my mobile tickets from the original order confirmation email because when I clicked the link to download tix, Leiss explained.
“I was getting a page not found error message.”
She then attempted to contact Ticketmaster but had a hard time reaching the company.
“I tried calling customer service like three times and was on hold and never got in touch with anymore,” Leiss said.
“I then tried calling the fraud department and was on [hold] for 15 minutes before being prompted to leave a voicemail.”
Leiss said she filled out an email form as well, but couldn’t chat with a Ticketmaster staffer online because she couldn’t get into her account.
When she finally got a hold of the company, an employee told her that there was no record of an account associated with her email ever existing.
She gave the team her order number and they couldn’t find her tickets – which caused it to be escalated to the fraud team.
In summer 2024, more than 500 million Ticketmaster customers were reportedly victims of a data breach.
The company told her the issue could take a while to investigate, but Leiss acted quickly as the clock was ticking on the upcoming show.
She took her complaint to X, where a Ticketmaster employee informed her of a different email attached to her order number.
Leiss’ tickets had been transferred to a stranger.
“My account was hacked,” Leiss wrote to Ticketmaster in a panicked message.
“That’s not an email I use and I never transferred my tickets nor did I okay that.”
“Please get my tickets back!!!” she pleaded with the company.
Leiss said she saw similar stories online of people who reported that their tickets were transferred from their accounts.
After bringing the problem online and leaving another voicemail, Leiss finally eventually got her tickets back.
A Ticketmaster Spokesperson shared the following statement with The U.S. Sun about Leiss' incident:
“Overall, our digital ticketing innovations have greatly reduced fraud compared to the days of paper tickets and duplicated PDFs,” Ticketmaster said.
“Having that digital history is also how we are able to investigate the situation and restore fans’ tickets.
“The top way fans can protect themselves is setting a strong unique password for all accounts – especially for their personal email which is where we often see security issues originate.
“Scammers are looking for new cheats across every industry, and tickets will always be a target because they are valuable, so Ticketmaster is constantly investing in new security enhancements to safeguard fans.”
With the concert just a few weeks away, Leiss is now relieved that the issue is over because she said she “truly wouldn’t have looked for my tix until a few days before the concert.”
Ticketmaster told The U.S. Sun that thanks to security measures built into mobile tickets, the company can typically restore nearly all tickets.
“Overall, our digital ticketing innovations have greatly reduced fraud compared to the days of paper tickets and duplicated PDFs,” a spokesperson for Ticketmaster said.
“Having that digital history is also how we are able to investigate the situation and restore fans’ tickets.”
Leiss’ terrifying account comes after over 500 million Ticketmaster customers’ details were reportedly stolen earlier this year.
Ticketmaster maintained that the data breach wasn’t a hack and that no passwords were exposed in the incident.
Customers were warned to check their accounts as personal information was stolen.
Ticketmaster said the best way to protect themselves against fraud is by setting strong unique passwords on their accounts, “especially for their personal email which is where we often see security issues originate,” the spokesperson added.
The company said that Ticketmaster is “constantly investing” in new ways to protect fans and their tickets.
TESLA has revamped its Model 3 vehicle by addressing two significant complaints that drivers encounter, according to a review.
The electric vehicle automaker giant unveiled the fresh Model 3, also known as the Highland, in January, and it came equipped with a new sleek look.
The game-changer Model 3 sedan was first released in the US in 2017.
Still, like many automakers, it received customer dissatisfaction, many of whom complained about the noisy cabin and the vehicle’s lackluster highway range.
However, the Model 3’s 2024 version has seemingly addressed those issues, according to a road test conducted by Car And Driver.
“We used to reference the Model 3 as an example of how all EVs are not super quiet, but no longer,” the outlet wrote.
Car And Driver’s review found that the Tesla sedan’s Long Range rear-wheel drive (RWD) model averaged 67 decibels at a 70 mph cruise.
The auto outlet said the revamped Tesla was “three better than” the previous Model 3 they tested.
“Tesla credits the substantial gain in quietness to acoustic-laminated (double-pane) glass all around; previously, only the windshield and front side glass were laminated,” Car And Driver’s review read.
“Furthermore, the company says a slight reshaping of the hood helps to route passing air up and over the roof rather than into the windshield, which also helps reduce wind noise.”
Tesla also credited the company’s new “Tesla-spec Michelin tires” for the sound reduction, according to the review.
The 2024 Model 3 edition outperformed the previous model For long-distance drives, peeking at 310 miles.
“The noise reduction makes this latest Model 3 so much more pleasant to drive, which is appropriate because it also can go way further at highway speeds than before,” the outlet wrote.
“While the EPA range increased from 330 miles for the last Long Rang RWD (a 2020 model) to 363 for 2024 (and up from 310 miles for the first 2018 Long Range RWD model), we achieved a whopping 310 miles in our 75-mph highway-range test.
“Our long-term Model 3 went a mere 230 miles in the same test with an EPA-range future of 310 miles.
“While usable battery capacity is up on the latest models to 79.9 kWh, that’s only a roughly 2 percent gain.”
Car And Driver’s test determined that the 2024 Model 3 version is “a far better car to live with.”
The U.S. Sun has reached out to Tesla for comment.
The price of the standard 2024 Tesla Model 3 starts at $40,630 and only goes up depending on the vehicle’s trim.
Car shoppers looking to get the model’s Long Range RWD will need to shell out $44,130.
The Long Range AWD starts at $49,130.
Meanwhile, the fully loaded Performance model has a $54,630 price tag.

THE Kansas City Chiefs are set to make a major move ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
With the Kansas City Chiefs suffering multiple key injuries this season, the team is expected to make a major trade.
According to Kansas City Sports Network’s Nate Taylor, head coach Andy Reid is going to make a move for a wide receiver.
“The Chiefs are trading for a receiver,” Taylor said.
“It’s going to be someone under 30.”
The wide receiver trade market has already been extremely active this season, with two major names already on the move.
Devante Adams was just traded from the Las Vegas Raiders to the New York Jets, and it only cost a third-round pick that can possibly become a second-rounder.
Amari Cooper was also just traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Buffalo Bills, and that trade only cost a third-round pick.
If the Chiefs are looking to trade for a receiver, it might not cost them that much.
Taylor reported that the receiver will be under 30 years old, so here are some options that could be available for Reid and the Chiefs.
Tee Higgins is a young, star wide receiver on the Cincinnati Bengals, but the Chiefs might be in a perfect position to trade for him.
Higgins is 25 years old and in the final year of his rookie contract, and the Bengals were already looking at trading him this offseason.
The young receiver has 259 yards and two touchdowns in four games played this season, and has multiple 1,000-yard receiving years.
Higgins could be a great option for the Chiefs to trade for and then extend for the future as a partner alongside Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy.
It would likely take at least a second-round pick to acquire Higgins from the Bengals.
Allen Lazard is having a spectacular season for the Jets as one of Aaron Rodgers‘ top receiving options, but with the arrival of Adams he could be pushed aside.
Lazard is sneakily one of the NFL‘s leaders in yards and touchdowns, hauling in 354 yards and five touchdowns in six games this season.
He will be dropped from the No. 2 to the No. 3 receiving option for the Jets starting next week, so it is possible the team is willing to move on from him for the right price.
A late-round pick from rounds five to six could probably land the 29-year-old for the Chiefs.
Diontae Johnson is one of the more under-the-radar players this NFL season.
After his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers crashed and burned, he was traded to the Carolina Panthers where he is thriving this season.
He already has 340 yards and three touchdowns this season, and has one 1,000-yard season under his belt in his career.
At 28 years old, he is still under the threshold for the Chiefs and could be a great option for Patrick Mahomes.
A fourth or fifth-round pick would likely be enough to secure Johnson from the Panthers.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are having an atrocious season, and a fire sale is likely incoming for the team.
Christian Kirk will likely be included in that mass selloff, and he is another player that feels like a perfect option for the Chiefs.
Kirk is 28 years old and has nearly 300 receiving yards this season with one touchdown.
He has a 1,000-yard receiving season under his belt, and could be a great short-term option for the Chiefs.
A third or fourth round pick would likely sway the Jaguars to trade away their third-year receiver.
