Jon Gosselin reveals plans for ‘intimate’ proposal to girlfriend Stephanie Lebo and ‘pressure’ of engagement to ex Kate

JON Gosselin has spent months plotting his proposal to his girlfriend and wants it to be an “intimate” surprise with his family involved after his “pressured” engagement to ex Kate.

The former Jon and Kate Plus Eight star, 47, has been dating partner Stephanie Lebo, 37, for more than three years and wants to make her the next Mrs Gosselin.

He caught up with The U.S. Sun at author Thea de Sousa’s launch party for The Unofficial Vanderpump Rules Ultimate Trivia Book at SUR in West Hollywood this week.

Jon DJ’d the event, powered by CellSound, and dished the details on what his engagement and wedding would look like after he was given a second chance at love.

He said, “I’m definitely popping the question; she has no clue. I have it all formulated in my mind.

“It’s funny because we’re both tricksters and like to play tricks on each other, so she’ll know when it happens.”

When asked if he’d already been ring shopping, he said, “Oh yes. I’m very detail-oriented and specific about what I want, and what she wants, obviously, and it took me a while.

“I didn’t know there were so many options, and there are… because the last time I got engaged, I was like 20 years old.”

He and his ex-wife, Kate, tied the knot in 1999, and she gave birth to twins Madelyn “Mady” Kate and Cara Nicole on October 8, 2000.

She later gave birth to their sextuplets on May 10, 2004: sons Aaden Jonathan, Collin Thomas, and Joel Kevin and daughters Alexis Faith, Hannah Joy, and Leah Hope.

A more intimate wedding and a bigger reception.”

Jon Gosselin on future plans

Jon admits marriage this time will be very different for him, explaining, “I’m marrying my best friend, I’ve never had that before.

“I always thought it was pressured. It’s different after TV because I never thought I’d open up to someone and be so honest.”

He said his first proposal was very private, but this time he’d like family involved, but it’ll still be intimate and “heartwarming.”

Jon went on, “It’s definitely love. I’m getting on the airplane and texting her, buying the wifi.”

He then joked, “I would never do that I’m Korean, that never happens.”

Asked if she supports his career as he’s regularly traveling, he said, “I believe so yeah! She texted me tonight, ‘I love you, have fun.’

“I think our wedding, it’s up to her, a more intimate wedding and a bigger reception, but I don’t know I’m just going along for the ride, I’m 47.”

Thinking about a honeymoon, he added, “I just need a vacation where I don’t have to work.

“All my friends are like, ‘Oh, you’re going to LA, oh you’re going here, you’re going here’. I’m like, ‘Dude, I gotta work, like, I haven’t slept in 20 hours’.”

Jon’s children, Collin and Hannah, lived with him and remain close to their father now they have flown the nest.

He remains estranged from his six other children; Alexis, Aaden, Leah, and Joel, and older twins Mady and Cara.

He previously revealed he would love to reunite with his family and would be happy for Stephanie and his ex-wife Kate to start speaking to each other.

The former couple had been embroiled in a bitter court battle over child support payments and custody arrangements since their divorce in 2009.

It only ended in April this year after her lawsuit seeking unpaid child support was quashed.

Meanwhile, Jon is planning for the future and is happy his DJ career has taken off, as he gets paid to perform at celebrity events.

When asked if he’s banking his cash for anything in particular, he joked, “Yeah, retirement! I can’t retire in LA; I don’t make enough money.

“No, DJing is my passion, and I love it. Monetarily, I’m doing well and holding my own.

“I mean, my kids are taken care of; I’ve had an empty nest since I was 45.

“I don’t know, see what the ride is, maybe I end up back on TV or film my own thing, document my own stuff.”

He still lives with Stephanie in Pennsylvania, where he was born and raised, but would love to move in the future.

Jon said, “I’d move south. It’s more laid-back, it’s warm, and the water’s warm.

“I like the atmosphere as well. I’ve developed a lot of friendships down there.

“I like the north east because my family’s there, but I just need a place to relax. As long as I’m near an airport, I’m good to go.”

Mystery novel lovers insist they could solve a real-life murder and are safer due to studying the genre

MYSTERY novel nerds think their fantastical reads have real-life benefits – including tips to solve a murder case.

A survey of 2,000 horror, mystery, thriller, and true crime readers found that 61% believe they have what it takes to unravel a real-world mystery plot.

However, not many readers believe they could survive a horror novel plot[/caption]

But, only four in 10 (41%) are confident they’d survive the plot of a horror novel and live to tell the tale.

Interestingly, men were significantly more confident in their survival skills compared to women (51% vs. 37%).

Conducted by Talker Research and commissioned by ThriftBooks, the research investigated all things related to the spooky genre: Plot-come-to-life scenarios, favorite spooky books and even safety best practices gleaned from reading the genre.

When asked which character stereotype they identify with, one in four (26%) identified as the sidekick character and 12% said they’d most likely be the victim in a scary book.

Unabashedly, more than one in 10 (13%) reported they’d be the villain and only 45% believe they have what it takes to be the hero or detective in a spooky book.

Looking closer at villains, this time in the real world, 68% said that they can tell if someone is a “bad” person simply by the vibes they give off.

Women were more likely to report this compared to men (70% vs 61%).

And more than half of readers (51%) said someone in their everyday routine fits the mold of a villian from a spooky novel.

Looking at who actually matches the stereotype, the most common answer was a neighbor (44%).

Shockingly (or maybe not), the second most common answer was a family member (31%).

Uncovering how reading scary books has made a lasting impact on respondents, 68% reported that they’ve adopted safer habits after reading the genre.

These include not sharing personal info with strangers (63%), not answering calls or texts from unfamiliar numbers (62%), not posting their location on social media (52%), and never posting any personal info on the internet (51%).

Readers said they feel a combination of sensations after reading a scary book such as feeling energized (29%), afraid (28%) and even wary of strangers (22%).

More than half (54%) also admitted they’re more easily startled after reading a scary novel.

And it takes two days, on average, for these feelings to subside after reading a haunting book.

Thirty-three percent have slept with the lights on after a chilling read, 21% have checked under the bed, and 20% have even refused to answer the door when the doorbell rang after finishing a spooky read.

“It’s interesting and so relatable to see all the things we’ve done after reading a scary book,” said Barbara Hagen, vice president of sales and marketing at ThriftBooks.

“Who hasn’t slept with the lights on after reading a terrifying book?

“It’s also interesting, even informative, to see what safety habits spooky readers pick up.

“The scary book genre is a lot at once: Chilling, energizing and enthralling. It’s no wonder it’s such a popular genre.”

Readers, on average, reported picking up their first hair-raising book at age 12. After that, 60% said they were immediately addicted to the genre.

And it turns out, younger generations are more easily addicted to the genre: More Gen Z (73%), millennials (76%) and even Gen X respondents (72%) said they were immediately hooked on scary books after reading their first one compared to baby boomer respondents (45%).

Popular gateway scary books, according to the survey, include Carrie, Dracula, Frankenstein, Goosebumps, Nancy Drew, and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

When asked about their all-time favorite scary reads, readers cited books including: Goosebumps, It, Pet Sematary, Silence of the Lambs, The Exorcist, The Shining and The Stand.

It’s no surprise then that Stephen King (68%) was the most popular answer by a landslide across all generations when respondents were asked about their favorite horror authors.

“If you haven’t already this year, we encourage readers to pick up a scary book,” said Hagen.

“Whether it’s a repeat read or a new one, there’s no better time of year to get into the genre.”

Thank you for giving me a chance to live, says brave teen cancer survivor as he meets anonymous stem cell donor

A TEEN cancer survivor had a surprise meeting with his anonymous stem cell donor as he rang the bell at the end of his treatment.

George Shaw, 15, was thrilled to see Kimmy Strelley, 38, for the first time — and thanked her for giving him “another chance to live”.

The teen had a very rare, highly aggressive form of leukaemia which was resistant to standard chemotherapy.

It meant a stem cell transplant was his only option.

Even George’s twin brother Stephen was not suitable but Kimmy was found to be one of a small number of perfect matches worldwide.

She donated her stem cells via bone marrow in December 2021, allowing the lifesaving op to go ahead the next day at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

George, from Nottingham, recalled: “You’re awake when you have the transplant, and I can remember a strong smell of sweetcorn.”

Donors and recipients must stay anonymous during treatment but can write, as Kimmy and George did.

Kimmy, a hairdresser from Flitton, Beds, was then overjoyed to meet George and his family as he rang the bell to mark the end of his treatment.

George said: “Life is so much better now, and it’s been brilliant to meet Kimmy today. She’s given me another chance to live and meant moments like today can happen.”

Kimmy, who was joined by her son Jake, said: “I was so excited to be given the chance to donate but I also felt a lot of responsibility because I really cared about helping the person I was donating to.

“I didn’t know it was George then but I really hoped it had worked and that he was OK.”

Kimmy, who signed up with stem cell charity Anthony Nolan, went on: “I always say that I’m only one piece in the puzzle of George’s recovery.

“Being here three years later, I just feel so proud of George.”

George, who lives with mum Christine, dad Steven and brother Stephen, as well as their five dogs, is already back playing football. He also raised £1,600 for the hospital by abseiling off a bridge.

Dr Katharine Patrick, consultant paediatric haematologist, said: “Caring for patients like George is a huge privilege.

“He’s always been an absolute delight.

“There really are very few opportunities in life to save another person’s life but that is exactly what Kimmy’s done.”

I thought I scored a bargain on Vinted – next thing I knew I was threatened with GUN by man who wanted to kill my family

A VINTED customer and his family were threatened with a gun by a crazed seller.

First-time user Amir was left fearing for his life after he was bombarded with violent messages from a person who sold him a rucksack.

Ellie Flynn spoke with a man who was threatened with a gun on Vinted[/caption]

The altercation broke out after Vinted cancelled the sale due to suspicious activity – after the seller had already sent the package.

Amir offered to send the bag back but was met with a barrage of aggressive messages.

Despite Vinted cancelling the sale, the app’s customer service said they could no longer help.

Sharing his shocking story on Channel 4’s Vinted’s Dirty Laundry: Dispatches, he said: “It was quite continuous the messages and they got progressively worse.

“‘I know where you live’, ‘ I am going to come to your house’, ‘ I know all your information and I’ll come over with a gun to find you’.

“And the next day it was ‘I will come to your house’, and the last screenshot was just them sending my address.

“The main issue is this person has my address, I live at home with a wife and two children, two young daughters. It was quite shocking.”

Trustpilot scored Vinted 2.5/5 and there are videos online moaning about how difficult it can be to be assisted by a human member of staff.

Vinted has gathered a whopping 65 million users across 21 countries and revolutionised second-hand shopping.

It started in Lithuania in 2008 and has since gained popularity across Europe.

It has twice the users of its closest competitor Depop and is valued at over £4billion.

Presented by journalist Ellie Flynn, the documentary delves into the hidden dangers of the second-hand app.

The Dispatches team uncovered more than 100 products that are on the government’s recall list.

There were also a number of items found that were in breach of Vinted’s rules.

The items included unsafe baby products, used cosmetics, fire-hazard electricals and prescribed medicated products.

Katrina Phillips from the Child Accident Prevention Trust was horrified by a ‘self-feeding baby pillow’.

She said: “The bottle is held in place. And let’s say they [a baby] can’t push it away. These are really dangerous. They should not be sold. It really, really horrifies me.”

Dr Jane Leonard, a GP and cosmetic doctor, examined some of the lab results from tested products.

Yeast, mould and other bacteria were found in some of the tested items.

She explained that the findings suggested the products had been open “for a while” and could cause skin infections.

Vinted provided a statement to Channel 4: “We are taking the allegations seriously and will act as swiftly as we can against anything that violates our terms and conditions [including] measures that may result in the definitive blocking of sellers who repeatedly ignore our policy.

“We understand that members are not always aware that the item they sell or buy might be recalled.

“Our teams are … constantly working on improving and developing new tools and technologies to improve our systems…

“We’re very sorry to hear of these experiences and commit to take the necessary action against members who violate our community standards.

“We have a number of measures in place to uphold safety on the platform and are constantly updating these processes and improving our level of personal member support.

The Sun has also contacted Vinted for a response.

Vinted’s Dirty Laundry: Dispatches airs Friday 18 October at 7.30pm on Channel 4.

Honda owner outraged as brand new car starts making a weird noise – it had less than 2,000 miles on it

AN outraged driver has slammed Honda after she got a brand new car that made annoying rattling noises despite having less than 2,000 miles.

TikToker Henny was horrified when her Honda Prologue started running worse than her old car with 200,000 miles.

A TikToker was left in shock after her new Honda with less than 2,000 miles started making a rattling noise[/caption]
Getty
She took it back to her dealership and found a part was missing[/caption]

She showed off the shaking sounds in a series of videos that went viral as curious users tuned in to discover the problem.

At first, Henny (@henngtz) was really excited about getting a new car and remembered feeling happy she wouldn’t have to get repairs for a while, she said in the clip.

But her dream became a nightmare after the noise cropped up before she even hit 2,000 miles.

Henny said whenever the EV was cruising and hit a speed bump, the racket would start up and immediately drive her crazy.

“I had a 2016 Pilot with over 200,000 miles. It didn’t make these kinds of noises,” the angered driver said.

The noise was coming from the back of her car, but even after searching through the trunk and adjusting the mats, she couldn’t find the source.

In replies posted on the video, users wondered whether Honda, which is known for its high-quality vehicles, had faltered with this design.

Many pointed out that the Prologue is a collaboration between Honda and General Motors, which could mean it doesn’t meet the Japanese brand’s signature standards.

The online sleuths urged the driver to return the car and get a different Honda product.

“Bring that GM back and get a regular CRV,” one user wrote before the original poster replied, “considering doing that.”

Another user commented, “It has the Honda name but designed by GM. You know what that means.”

Henny answered many questions from followers who were trying to diagnose the issue, but none of them seemed to be helping.

One user even jokingly told her to turn her radio up and ignore it, but she knew it was serious enough to get fixed.

Eventually, the driver took it back to her dealership for a professional look.

Days later, Henny revealed the issue through a video the mechanic had sent her.

Dealership Tips

Here are some expert tips when purchasing a car from a dealership lot:

  • 1. Set your price: Ensure you’ve calculated your monthly budget before going to the lot. You should include the car’s loan payment, insurance costs, fuel, and regular maintenance.
  • 2. Research: Make sure you know which cars you’re interested in test driving before you reach the dealership.
  • 3. Pre-approval: Secure financing before you go to the dealership. Dealerships may give you a better interest rate if they are competing with an outside bank.
  • 4. Test away: Get behind the wheel before making any payments. A car purchase will be worth thousands of dollars – drivers should ensure they like the drivetrain, steering feel, and comfort of the car before taking it off the lot
  • 5. Haggle: Drivers should always try to negotiate the price. There are so many good cars on the American market – buyers have a strong hand when negotiating price.

Source: Kelley Blue Book

The dealership found a bolt was missing in her rear bracket, which caused it to rub against bars in the undercarriage.

After getting it fixed, Henny slammed the brand for the oversight.

“Honda, you are always missing bolts on these cars,” she wrote in the post.

“Do a better quality check before shipping your new vehicles for sale.”

The U.S. Sun has contacted the driver and Honda for more information on what happened with the car.

Burger King fans furious over $13 purple whopper after chain promised customers it was free – and diner shows proof

BURGER King customers have been issuing complaints over a menu offering this week.

The fast food giant introduced a line of spooky-themed items on October 10 and quickly caught the attention of customers.

Getty
Burger King customers claimed they missed out on their free Whopper this month[/caption]
Burger King
The deal came as part of limited-time The Addams Family menu items[/caption]

Each was inspired by characters from The Addams Family.

They include Gomez’s Churro Fries, Morticia’s Kooky Chocolate Shake, Thing’s Rings, and Wednesday’s Whopper.

Zahra Nurani, vice president of marketing communications at Burger King, emphasized that “guests are going to get a nice surprise with The Addams Family partnership” in a press release.

Some of those surprises included a free Wednesday Whopper for customers on October 17, per Today.

Wednesday’s Whopper comes with a vivid purple potato bun with black sesame seeds, standing out among the rest.

On the burger is a beef patty, lettuce, tomatoes, Swiss cheese, mayo, ketchup, pickles, and onions.

Several customers flocked to their local Burger King to take advantage of the no-cost sandwich opportunity.

However, some, including TikToker Blessedbyboosie (@blessedbyboosie), claimed they were still forced to pay $13.98 in a recent video.

CRUCIAL REQUIREMENT

She showed viewers her receipt, which showed the total for the Wednesday Whopper, medium fries, and medium soft drink.

“It was not free — yeah, I know it spread around all over social media that it was supposed to be free today,” the customer fumed.

So, why wasn’t it?

There’s a catch, as the free Wednesday Whopper is only available to those customers who are Royal Perks rewards members with Burger King.

Additionally, members must order the special burger through Burger King’s mobile app, not in person at their local restaurant.

It’s all part of a plethora of promotions coming as part of The Addams Family menu from October 10 to November 10.

Burger King History

Burger King, one of the most well-known fast-food chains globally, originated in the United States.

The company was founded in 1953 in Jacksonville, Florida, under the name Insta-Burger King.

The original concept was created by Keith J. Kramer and his wife’s uncle, Matthew Burns, who purchased the rights to two pieces of equipment called “Insta” machines.

However, the company struggled financially and was purchased in 1954 by two Miami-based franchisees, James McLamore and David Edgerton. They rebranded the company as Burger King and began to expand its operations.

McLamore and Edgerton are credited with developing the company’s signature product, the Whopper, in 1957, which helped to establish the brand’s identity and popularity.

Under their leadership, Burger King grew rapidly, eventually becoming a significant player in the fast-food industry.

The company continued to expand both domestically and internationally, becoming the global brand it is known as today.

DON’T MISS OUT

Those interested in taking advantage of future deals within the month-long period should ensure they download the Burger King mobile app and sign up for Royal Perks before then.

Otherwise, they risk missing the money-saving chance.

It’s unclear how much the Wednesday Whopper costs on its own, as prices will vary by location.

A single-patty Whopper generally costs around $7.89.

Burger King also made waves among customers recently with its “Big Dip” tub of ranch dressing offered for free with any Whopper.

A coupon from the fast food giant also revealed prices rose on a popular meal deal by $6 over the past two years.
