The Maebe founder, 24, said: “I haven’t been able to stop thinking about the most heartbreaking news of Liam’s passing. It has utterly shocked me.

“I met Liam a few times and he was such a genuine and kind person- always making the effort to talk to me and ask how I was.

“I just can’t stop thinking about his family, his son, girlfriend and friends- my heart aches for them.

“Rest in peace Liam”.

Molly-Mae joined hundreds of celebrities paying their respects on social media over the past few days.

It comes as

It comes as Liam’s ex and the mother of his son Bear, seven, spoke out on Friday night.

Former X Factor judge Cheryl described the “earth shattering” agony of Liam’s death and that Bear will “never see father again”.

She added a statement on Instagram that said: “As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.”

Cheryl went on: “Before you leave comments or make videos, ask
yourself if you would like your own child or family to read them.

“Please give Liam the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at last.”

Liam fondly described his seven-year-old son as a “mini-me” weeks before his death.

TRAGIC DEATH

The singer’s loved ones flew to South America late on Wednesday night just hours after his tragic passing.

Liam’s dad Geoff Payne was seen in Buenos Aires at the CasaSur Palermo hotel where his son tragically fell from a balcony and lost his life.

Footage taken outside the Casa Sur hotel on Friday showed a sombre Geoff bending down to read messages written to his son.

Dressed in a dark suit, the distraught dad waved to Liam’s fans.

One Direction star Lia fell to his death from the third floor of his hotel after behaving “erratically” throughout the day.

Champagne, prescription drugs, white powder and foil wraps were all found in Liam’s trashed hotel room after the fatal fall at around 5pm (9pm UK time).

Fellow hotel guests revealed the star had been acting in a “disturbing” manner shortly before his fall, with Liam admitting to one woman: “I used to be in a boy band – that’s why I’m so f**ked up.”

Liam’s family said after his passing: “We are heartbroken.

“Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.

“We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space during this awful time.”

His parents, Geoff and Karen Payne, were seen leaving their home in the middle of the night on Wednesday.

Tributes to Liam Payne

SHOCKED fans, former co-workers, loved ones and friends flooded social media with sad tributes to Liam Payne after news of his death emerged.

Harry Styles’ mum Anne was among the first from One Direction’s camp to share her reaction, posting a photo of Liam and writing ‘Just a boy…’ alongside a broken heart emoji.

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden shared an image of the pair together with the words: “Such an awful tragedy.

“Sending love to his family and all those who loved him.”

X Factor star Olly Murs told fans he was “devastated” and “lost for words”.

He wrote on social media: “Liam shared the same passions as me, the same dreams so to see his life now end so young hits hard, I’m truly gutted and devastated for his Family and of course his son Bear losing a dad x”.

Liam Gallagher said he was “very sad” and told his followers on X: “Life is precious Kids, you only get to do it once, go easy.”

Former X Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary has also expressed his shock and spoke on This Morning.

He said: “I remember him as a 14 year old turning up to audition on The X Factor, and blowing us away singing Sinatra. He just loved to sing.

“He was always a joy, had time for everyone, polite, grateful, and was always humble.”

BBC Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball reacted to the “devastating news” on her show and told fans she hugged her own son Woody tight this morning.

JLS band member Marvin Humes reflected on his memories with the singer, sharing: “I first met Liam in 2008 with the JLS boys whilst auditioning for X Factor..he was 14 years old..

“We instantly clicked and looked at him as a little brother..that year it worked out for us but not for him and then 2 years later he went back to audition and One Direction was born..the rest is history..

“Absolutely heartbroken by the tragic news..Liam you wanted to be a global superstar and you did it bro..just can’t believe that things have ended this way..it’s shocking..my thoughts and prayers are with all your family and friends brother..RIP.”

Niall Horan’s brother Greg shared an emotional tribute to Liam, praising him as a “top young man”.

He added: “You will be forever missed. Liam, words can’t describe how much I want to grab my brother and mind him now while the world shows their memories of you and him and the boys.

“My heart goes out to your family parents and sisters and your son Bear and your 1D brothers.

“10th October we met and we started out that evening as 5 families into one big one 1D family thank you for all the laughs bro watch down on all your family and mind them lots of love kiddo x x x 1D 4 LIFE x x x”

German DJ Anton Zaslavski, otherwise known as Zedd, has taken to X with a devastated statement.

The producer, who worked with Liam on his 2017 hit Get Low, wrote: “RIP Liam… I can’t believe this is real…absolutely heartbreaking…”

American singer, Charlie Puth, who was friends with Liam and also collaborated with him on a song called Bedroom Floor, has posted a series of Instagram stories dedicated to him.

Alongside photos of the two of them together in their younger days, Charlie wrote: “I am in shock right now. Liam was always so kind to me.

“He was one of the first major artists I got to work with. I can not believe he is gone…

“I am so upset right now, may he rest in peace. I am so sorry…”

Irish singer duo Jedward also took to social media, saying: “RIP Liam Payne. Condolences to friends and family.”

In another tweet, they added: “Sending strength to Cheryl and his son Bear. And all the One direction Family. RIP Liam Payne.”

American media personality Paris Hilton shared: “So upsetting to hear the news of Liam Payne passing. Sending love and condolences to his family & loved ones. RIP my friend.”

ITV weather presenter Alex Beresford shared a news video about Liam’s tragic death on Instagram, adding: “Can’t believe this! RIP Liam.”

Meanwhile Love Island star Molly Marsh penned: “I’m so taken aback, rest in peace.”

James Cordon also paid his own tribute, describing the star as a “loving and kind soul”.

The Gavin and Stacey actor wrote on Instagram: “Talking about Liam in the past tense is utterly heart-breaking.

“I will treasure the moments I got to spend with him. My thoughts are with his family today x.”

Payne previously appeared on Cordon’s The Late Late Show in America.

Former Little Mix star Jade Thirwall – who won X Factor with her bandmates one year after One Direction took part – described him as “the first friend I made in this industry”.

She said: “We fell out of touch as the years went by, but back in 2008 he was the first friend I made in this industry.

“Both of us so young, so ambitious, both hoping we’d ‘make it’. I hope you are at peace now”.

Camila Cabello described his death as a “tragedy” and said he “made an impression” on her when she was a young girl.

Moira Barton gets concerning news about her brain tumour in Emmerdale

MOIRA Barton gets concerning news about her brain tumour in Emmerdale.

The character – played by Natalie J. Robb – was left devastated last month when doctors confirmed she had a brain tumour.

Moira has been delaying her surgery but gets an update in upcoming scenes[/caption]

The diagnosis came after weeks of worrying and out-of-character behaviour for Moira, which had left her family at a loss as to what to do.

Things came to a head after she caused the barn blaze and while everyone escaped unharmed in the end, Moira was hit with the shock news while in hospital.

This week, Moira was seen having a seizure while cooking breakfast at home.

She received news of an available operation slot the next day, but when Cain returned home from Scotland unexpectedly, Moira avoided telling him her operation news.

As Cain went for a shower Moira answered a call from Debbie – revealing the tragic news Cain’s dad Zak had passed away.

As the Dingles grieved their sad loss, her son Matty questioned her decision to delay her operation.

But in upcoming Emmerdale scenes, Moira accepts she needs to have the op as soon as possible.

Moira hears she has a new date for the operation to remove her brain tumour, however it quickly turns to worry over the tough journey ahead.

Meanwhile Moira asks a big favour from her friend Vanessa.

Emmerdale Producer, Sophie Roper previously commented on the storyline: “Moira’s diagnosis comes as a huge shock to both her and her family and Moira faces an emotional and challenging time ahead.

“The research and support we’ve received throughout this storyline has allowed us to depict the realities of the condition and though at times it may be distressing to see the symptoms Moira’s experiencing, we’re keen to explore the hope and resilience Moira finds as she comes to terms with her diagnosis.”

Actress Natalie said: “I feel really fortunate to be trusted with such a challenging storyline.

“Moira and her family have an extremely challenging time ahead, and I’m hoping I can portray it in a truthful way that does justice to all the people who are really suffering with a brain tumour.”

Cain Dingle's relationship timeline

Cain is the local hardman and has tormented and beaten his way through life during his time in Emmerdale. From kidnap to arson, Cain has done it all.

Cain has been the head of the Dingle family since 2015. Cain’s main storylines have focused on discovering his uncle Zak Dingle is his father, his relationships with his cousin Charity Dingle, discovering he is Debbie’s father, his affair and subsequent relationship with Moira Barton.

With four marriages so far, we take a look at Cain’s relationship history.

1989: 14-year-old Cain had a fling with his then 12-year-old second-cousin Charity and unbeknownst to Cain, she gave birth to their daughter, Debbie, in October 1989.

However, the child was taken away from Charity and she was kept apart from Cain who never found out about his daughter until many years later, even though Shadrach was aware of the situation.

1991: Cain had a relationship with Cara Robinson, a woman he worked in a bar with. Shadrach had a racist attitude towards her and used violence to attempt to make her stay away from Cain. Faith heard of the situation she wanted to help calm things, but was horrified when she learnt that Cara was pregnant.

As she knew Shadrach would never accept his son fathering a mixed raised baby, she coerced Cara into leaving Cain and never telling him about the existence of their son, Nate.

2002: Cain and Charity’s love was rekindled and they began an affair.

2005: Cain attempted to hurt Debbie by having a brief relationship with her friend Jasmine Thomas and ensuring that Debbie saw them together. Debbie and Sadie helped Jasmine terminate her pregnancy, knowing that Cain wanted to be a father.

2009: Charity proposed to Cain on Christmas Day and he accepted.

2010: Cain and Charity got married.

2011: Charity ended her relationship with Cain again, after he had a one-night stand with Faye Lamb and slept with Amy Wyatt. Amy fell pregnant, but told everyone she had an abortion, so Cain had an affair with Moira Barton.

Amy gave birth to Cain’s son, Kyle, in a cemetery; thinking he is dead, she panicked and left him in a phone box. Hazel Rhodes and Lisa Dingle found him, and called an ambulance. Amy admitted being his mother and Cain realised she lied about the abortion.

2012: Moira and Cain got together and on New Year’s Day 2013, and they announced their relationship by kissing in the Woolpack. Moira learned that she is pregnant, but miscarried. Despite this, their relationship got stronger and Cain moved in with Moira and Adam.

2013: Cain proposed to Moira, however before Moira can answer, Ross barged in with a gunshot wound.

2014: Moira proposed to Cain, he accepted and they got married.

2015: Cain and Moira discovered that Charity was pregnant when she was sentenced to prison and the baby, Moses Dingle, could possibly be Cain’s.

Cain visited Charity in prison and questioned if he is the father of her child. It is later revealed that Ross Barton is Moses’s father, following a one-night stand with Charity.

2016: Cain and Charity had an affair. Moira ordered a divorce. Cain and Charity decided to start a new life together in France with Debbie, but Cain admitted to a heartbroken Charity that he loved Moira and they got back together.

2017: Cain and vicar Harriet’s affair went public and turned into a relationship after Harriet was stabbed and left fighting for her life, leaving Cain realising how deep he felt for her.

Moira unexpectedly gave birth to Cain’s son Isaac Dingle, leaving his relationship with Harriet on the rocks.

2018: Cain got back together with Moira.

2019: Cain went on a long visit to Scotland to help Debbie, unknowingly giving Moira the perfect opportunity to pursue her recently started affair with Nate. Pete exposed their affair and Cain stopped Moira from seeing the kids and filed for a divorce.

2020: Cain came face-to-face with Cara for the first time since they were teenagers after she was called by Moira, who wanted to get rid of Nate.

Moira covered for Cain after he accidentally shot Nate. Cain and Moira got back together.

2021: Moira stood by Cain’s during his feud with Al Chapman and dealing with his mum’s Faith’s cancer and death.

2022 to present: Moira and Cain have clashed when it came to protecting Kyle who murdered Al, but the couple are still going strong, for now.

I’m a wine expert and these are the best bottles in Tesco — including £5.50 ‘crowd-pleaser’

Bottles of wine from Tesco pictured
Metro’s drinks editor shares the best wine you can buy at Tesco right now (Picture: Tesco)

I’m not looking for sympathy here, but September/October is crazy season in the wine industry.

Tastings, invitations, harvest days, launches, lunches and all the supermarkets showing off their autumn/winter wine portfolios. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been bouncing around retailer wine tastings in London noting down the gems we should all be looking out for. You’re welcome.

I have to say, the value for money on our shelves has never been better at all price levels. Bottles haven’t just been plonked there, a lot of thought and planning has gone into selecting them. Why more so now? Because they recognise that their customers are drinking less, but better.

According to the IWSR, per capita consumption of wine peaked in 2009 and has been in decline ever since, aside from a spike over lockdown. Nowadays, the UK drinks 14% less wine than it did in 2000. It’s not just us, it’s a bleaker story in the US and France, and you’ve probably read about the massive wine-drinking declines in China.

Sparkling wine has been the hero of the wine category, which is still showing incredible growth across Prosecco, Champagne, Crémant and Cava. Look at Waitrose, who recently announced they were outperforming the market by 3.5% in value on fizz with their Champagne and Crémant sales in particular.

And a word to the wise, now is a good time to stockpile your wine. From February 1st, 2025, duty is set to shoot up to the tune of 42p on a 14.5% bottle of wine, which represent 80% of the UK market. Give us a break, Keir, wine duty is already £2.67 a bottle.

Without further ado then, here are the top 10 value for money wines from Tesco

Sparkling

De Chanceny Crémant de Loire Brut NV, France, £12

Bottle of De Chanceny Crémant de Loire Brut NV pictured
The Crémant is a nice Champagne alternative (Picture: TESCO)

Crémant is going great guns as the budget French sparkling made in the same way as Champagne. It actually comes from the French word ‘cremeux’, meaning ‘creamy’. This bottle is from the Loire (it can legally come from 9 French regions), so there’s Chenin Blanc alongside Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. It’s dry and mouth filling with flavours of frangipane, honeyed yellow apples.

Tesco Finest English Sparkling Brut NV, £21

A bottle of Tesco Finest English Sparkling Brut NV pictured
An English sparkling wine (Picture: TESCO)

Have you seen the price of English sparkling recently? It’s monstrous, but then the category is still ‘so hot right now’. At just over £20, this breaks from the norm, not that it’s all about the price. Made by a big-name producer down in Staplehurst in Kent, called Balfour, it’s a rich and citrussy style with a mouthwatering lip-smack factor.

Tesco Finest Vintage Champagne Brut 2017, France, £30

A bottle of Tesco Finest Vintage Champagne Brut 2017 pictured
Vintage Champagne usually costs more than £100, so this is a bargain (Picture: TESCO)

A vintage Champagne for £30 is the stuff of fable, they’re usually north of £100 depending on the producer. Why? Because 85% of the grapes in the blend must be harvested from the year stated on the bottle, tricky to do if it was a poor year. Funnily enough, 2017 was that dicey year, with a famous frost event that decimated vineyards across Europe. This is made from a wine co-op, made up of 2,000 members, hence the costs are lower than a recognised Champagne house.

White

Marques de Los Zancos Rioja Blanco, Spain, £6

A bottle of Marques de Los Zancos Rioja Blanco pictured
It’s decent for £6 (Picture: TESCO)

Finding a decent red in the £6 price bracket is a breeze. A white? Not so much. See, a white wine is missing the flavour and texture housed in the grape’s skin, relying solely on the juice within its more neutral-tasting flesh. There needs to be skilled winemaking involved to enhance those barely-there flavours, or it can taste unbalanced, lean and acidic. Thankfully, here we have a zesty white with intense, mineral and citrussy flavours for a barely-there price tag.

Tesco Finest Mosel Steep Slopes Riesling, Germany, £7.25

A bottle of Tesco Finest Mosel Steep Slopes Riesling pictured
It’s peachy, lean, zesty and honeyed (Picture: TESCO)

I only have to read my tasting notes and my mouth waters; “peachy, lean, zesty, honeyed – great value!” This is produced by a union of 68 winegrowing families from the hallowed Mosel region of Germany. Here’s the thing about the Mosel, it’s a steep-banked area that follows the course of the river and is considered to produce some of the best Riesling in the world.

Tesco Finest Floreal, France, £8

A bottle of Tesco Finest Floreal pictured
You’ve probably never heard of Floreal (Picture: TESCO)

Ever heard of Floreal? Don’t worry, no one has. It’s a recent hybrid grape engineered to be disease resistant. Tesco are the first major retailer to sell it, and it’s a great step forward as it could reduce the carbon footprint of a wine. If you like Viognier, you’re in luck here, this is peachy, pear-like, textured and rich.

Tesco Finest Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Blanc, France, £9

A bottle of Tesco Finest Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Blanc pictured
A nice wine for under a tenner (Picture: TESCO)

Get this, red wine in the Rhône Valley represents 74% of production, 14% for rosé and only 12% for white wine. It’s minuscular, right? Production of whites is on the rise though, as they’re keen not to be known just for their reds. But let’s focus on this bottle being under a tenner when it’s also made from old-vine grapes. That usually packs on a premium in itself, not here though.

Red

Seta Nera Merlot 2022, Italy, £5.50

A bottle of Seta Nera Merlot 2022 pictured
A juicy crowd-pleaser (Picture: TESCO)

We’re not setting the world alight here, but boy is this red juicy and crowd pleasing. Made by a cooperative of 3,000 members in the Abruzzo region of Italy, the Merlot grapes are hand harvested and aged on the fine lees for 12 months. Soft and pillowy, this plumtastic red should be a staple over festive season.

Shallow Bay Cabernet Sauvignon, South Africa, £6.75

A bottle of Shallow Bay Cabernet Sauvignon pictured
This one checks all the boxes! (Picture: TESCO)

Let the value for money roll in, this time from the Western Cape of South Africa. Produced by Boland Winery, located in the Paarl Valley, who have been named as one of the top 100 wine producers in the world by the World Association of Wine and Spirits Writers. Their wines are aimed at the modern wine drinker, with soft tannins and juiciness. Check and check.

Trapiche Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, £8.25

A bottle of Trapiche Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon pictured

I love a good Malbec. Anyone else? Spice, plums, damsons, it really has it all, when it’s done well. Trapiche is a respected name in Argentina, owned by the leading wine-making company in the country. It’s also the number one Malbec producers worldwide. Rest assured, this will give you the Malbec hit you need, along with change for a tenner.
