Ultra-rare pattern and specific date on £2 coin make it worth nearly THIRTY times more – do you have one in your pocket?

SPOTTING this rare coin in your change could be a big money-spinner – it could be worth nearly thirty times worth its original £2 value.

If you discover a sought-after coin in your change, you can make money on it by selling it on.

If you buy one of these uncirculated coins you could secure a fortune[/caption]

You could do this through an auction, either online, in person, or through a dealer.

There are some coins which are known to fetch large sums of cash, such as the Kew Gardens 50p and the commemorative 50p coins minted to mark the London 2012 games.

But there are also lesser-known designs that are worth keeping an eye out for – like the 2020 Captain Cook-themed £2 coin.

These were issued back in 2020 to mark the 250th anniversary of Brit explorer Captain James Cook’s famous Voyage of Discovery.

The Royal Mint announced in 2018 that they’d release a unique three part £2 series – and they weren’t circulated to the general public, making them an extra coveted find.

This is the third and final £2 in the series and the distinctive reverse, designed by lettering artist Gary Breeze, features part of Captain Cook’s famous ship.

Once all three coins in the series are collected, you can arrange them together to reveal the full design.

Captain James Cook underwent three famous voyages responsible for finding major lands such as New Zealand and Hawaii.

He inspired many explorers and astronomers and this coin honours the first of these voyages.

You’re in luck – Ebay has been flogging the rare £2 edition coin on its website.

What are the most rare and valuable coins?

They’ve gone for as much as £57 and as little as £36.

How to check if a coin is rare

In most cases, a coin is rare if it has a low mintage figure – which is set by The Royal Mint.

The mintage figure relates to how many of the coins were made, so the fewer there are of them, the rarer they are.

You can find out what coins are rare and how they look on The Royal Mint’s website.

Your next step after this is seeing if the same coin is still available to buy in superior Brilliant Uncirculated quality from an official Royal Mint distributor, according to Change Checker.

These coins have been specially made to a superior quality which differentiates them from other coins you might find in your pocket.

How to sell a rare coin

If, after checking, you realise you’ve come across a rare coin, there’s a number of ways you can sell it.

You can sell it on eBay, through Facebook, or in an auction – but be wary of the risks.

The safest way to sell a rare coin is more than likely at auction. You can organise this with The Royal Mint’s Collectors Service.

King Charles and Queen Camilla kick off their historic tour of Australia as crowds turn out to greet British pair

THE King and Queen looked refreshed from a day of rest as they kicked off their tour Down Under – with crowds turning out to give them an Aussie welcome.

The royal couple began their trip attending a service at St Thomas’ Church, in North Sydney.

Charles waved at the crowd and Camilla beamed in a pale green dress and straw hat.

A small crowd of cheering locals who heard about the visit were kept back across the road by police – with a handful of protesters.

But were greeted by delighted flag-waving children who screamed in delight after meeting the royal couple.

Ellie Mantle, wife of Rector Micky Mantle, took youngsters from St Thomas’ Church Sunday School to greet the royal guests.

And brought rugby ball, cricket ball and stuffed Koala, as gifts for King’s grandchildren George, Charlotte and Louis.

She said: “It’s a great honour for us as it’s the first opportunity for the public to see the King and Queen.”

The King and Queen joined a regular Anglican Church Service with worshippers led by the Most Reverend Kanishka Raffel, the Archbishop of Sydney.

The Royal Family’s official account posted a snap of Charles and Camilla smiling in front of the Sydney Opera House.

The post was captioned: “What a backdrop!

“After a rest day at the beautiful Admiralty House, today Their Majesties will begin their first day of official engagements in Australia.

“The King and Queen will attend church this morning, before His Majesty visits the Parliament of New South Wales.

“See you there, Sydney!”

Anti-monarchy protesters held a vast banner at the first engagement around 100 metres away with banner reading Empire Built on Genocide.

Separately nine men and women, who said they were not part of a named group, held a banner reading Decolonise.

One of them held a Palestine and Lebanon flag.

Another, called Lizzy Jarrett, wore an Abolish the Monarchy t-shirt with Queen Elizabeth on, —and cursed as she said had the same name as ‘that b*tch’.

And said the group was there to protest against British rule and return of Aboriginal land.

The church was built in 1846 when the population of Sydney North Harbour was less than 400.

The current church that now stands was completed by 1886.

It is the longest Anglican Church in New South Wales and holds more than 400 people.

It runs multiple programmes throughout the week and holds three varied services on a Sunday for their large congregation, which includes lots of young people.

The King and Queen have regularly been spotted attending Crathie Kirk for Sunday services while in Balmoral during the summer.

It comes as several Aussie State Premieres have snubbed an invite to meet the King.

But a recent poll revealed Aussies are less in favour of ditching the King for a Republic than during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

Charles flew 10,500 miles Down Under becoming the first monarch to visit since 2011.

The trip includes a party at Sydney Opera House and he will deliver a speech at Parliament House in Canberra.

He will hold a poignant face-to-face with two pioneering cancer doctors during his trip.

Despite his cancer treatment he will still pack in 36 engagements on eight days with Queen Camilla.

The trip also includes a State Visit to Samoa in the South Pacific – where he will make an address at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Charles, 75, announced he had cancer in February and spent two months off front line engagements while he had weekly treatment.

He ordered aides to “supercharge” efforts to travel to Oz in April after positive reaction to treatment.

Sources close to the King insist his treatment is on an ‘upward trajectory’ and he will travel Down Under with royal doctors.

Francis Ngannou vs Renan Ferreira LIVE RESULTS: Ngannou scores incredible FIRST ROUND KO as he breaks down in tears

FRANCIS NGANNOU broke down IN TEARS after an INCREDIBLE first round KO win over Renan Ferreira.

The Predator had not been seen inside an octagon since his January 2022 UFC win over Ciryl Gane, having spent a couple of years chasing huge boxing fights against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Ngannou did not waste any time having jumped from the UFC to the PFL, facing reigning heavyweight champ Ferreira, but the Cameroonian was way too good for the Brazilian, dominating in a rapid first-round win.

Francis Ngannou KOs Renen Ferreira in first round of MMA return and breaks down in tears after dedicating win to his son

FRANCIS NGANNOU tearfully made his return to MMA by viciously knocking out Renen Ferreira – and dedicated it to his late son Kobe.

Ngannou was beaten in the boxing ring by Anthony Joshua in March but suffered a far greater loss just a month later.

His son Kobe – only 15-months-old – suddenly passed away to leave Ngannou devastated and contemplating retirement.

But the heavyweight hero – who emigrated from Cameroon to France on foot over the course of a year – vowed to fight for his boy.

And with Kobe tattooed on his bicep, Ngannou dedicated victory to son as he broke down in tears in the cage.

He said: “I can’t think about anything other than my son, Kobe. I only took this fight because of him, I took the fight for him.

“I hope they can remember his name because without Kobe, we wouldn’t be here tonight. I wouldn’t have fought.”

Ngannou put his MMA career on hold after walking out on the UFC in 2022 as their heavyweight world champion.

And he crossed over to pursue a lifelong ambition of boxing, sensationally dropping Tyson Fury on his debut.

But he lost a controversial split-decision loss to Fury, 36, before being knocked out five months later by Joshua, 34.

Ngannou went back to his MMA roots to make his return against Ferreira, 34, but had to do it carrying the burden of losing his son.

He said: “It was tough, it’s been tough. Not only the training camp was tough, the past two days were very tough, full of emotion.

“I couldn’t do anything without thinking about it. I was trying to say I was strong, tell myself to keep moving but it was hard.”

Ngannou came out swinging against Ferreira but scored a surprise takedown to take the bout to the ground.

But it was on the floor that he ruthlessly hammered 6ft 8in Ferreira into submission to hand him an emotional first-round finish.

Wiping away the tears from his eyes, Ngannou once more dedicated the moment to his son.

He said: “I just want to say, please remember my son. Remember my son, Kobe. This is for Kobe.”
