I was on Dragons’ Den – I faced a two-hour grilling but now my company’s worth millions

A DRAGONS’ Den star has opened up on the intense two-hour grilling participants face after signing up to the show.

Matt Kennedy took part in the programme in 2022 where he managed to land a double deal with both Peter Jones and Deborah Meaden for his business, Fussy.

The sustainable deodorant brand won over the hears of the two Dragons’ on the hit BBC show with Matt scoring a cool £50,000 cash injection into the then-fledgling business.

It appeared to be a worthwhile investment too with Fussy becoming a financial success having a recent revenue run rate of £12 million earlier this year.

However, before he managed to put pen to paper, Matt had to battle his way through a gruelling two-hour pitch – which was eventually condensed down to just 10 minutes on screen.

In order to guarantee TV success, Matt was also encouraged by TV bosses to make his pitch memorable which resulted in him launching himself out of a wheelie bin which led to the Dragon panel getting a fright.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Matt said: “We were told there was no guarantee we’d get on the show.

“So we said, well, ‘what if we kind of hid in a bin’ and they said, ‘Yeah, that might help’.

“So yeah, we did that and it was a great.”

Matt continued: “Myself and Eddie, my co-founder at the time, both worked in advertising. So we were kind of used to writing TV ads, basically.

“This is, you know, in some ways is 10 minutes on TV. We thought let’s approach it like how do we get attention, you know, and kind of demonstrate what we’re all about in a really visual way.”

But Matt was forced to wait for 30 minutes inside of the wheelie bin before popping out and surprising the business titans.

Having been wheeled onto set, Matt had to patiently wait for his co-star’s queue to spring himself from underneath the bin lid.

Recalling the moment, Matt told The Sun: “I had to hide in this bin.

“I must have been it for about half an hour, and it was really hot.”

When asked if he snuck any snacks into the bin as he waited, Matt laughed: “No, no, just the microphone, and a bit of cursing a bit.

“I could hear them taking their seats and guessing what the pitch was going to be about.

Dragons' Den stars - past and present

Dragons' Den has been on our screens since 2005 and sees entrepreneurs enter the Den to try and win investment for their businesses from the Dragons.

Over the years there have been many wealthy investors sitting in the famous seats, here’s a rundown of them all and how long they were on the show for.

“I think the bin is still at BBC HQ somewhere.”

Revealing the eventual discussion with the dragons took a whopping TWO HOURS, Matt said: “Although it is only on screens for 10 minutes in the end, the process is really real.

“It is not like ‘pause, do this’, – it is literally two hours of questioning and pitching like a real investor pitch.

“It’s not made for TV in the sense that it is not scripted, whereas I can imagine some other shows, like The Apprentice, are.”

Meet Vicky Pattison’s husband Ercan Ramadan

ERCAN Ramadan went from a builder to a beloved television personality.

He married Vicky Pattison in August 2024, and here is everything we know about him.

Ercan Ramadan is a British television personality and the husband of Vicky Pattison.

He was born on September 6, 1993, and gained fame as a cast member on Towie in 2016.

Before transitioning into the world of social media and reality television, he worked as a builder and labourer.

Although he was approached to join Love Island in 2019, he decided not to pursue that opportunity out of respect for his relationship with Vicky.

The couple began dating in early 2019, following Vicky’s breakup with John Noble.

Moving together

In August 2019, the pair moved in together, after being together for eight months.

Their relationship quickly blossomed, with a brief split in early 2020 that they reconciled shortly after.

Vicky has admitted the couple had to have relationship therapy because they “stopped making each other happy”.

In November 2020, during an interview with Closer, Vicky opened up about their relationship.

She said: “We’re probably closer than a couple who have been together for less than two years should be, but I’m really happy with him.

“I’m just pleased to see that the more I learn about him, the more I love him. I’m a very lucky bug.”

Proposal in Dubai

In February 2022, Vicky announced their engagement on Instagram after Ercan proposed during a romantic getaway in Dubai.

She wrote: “I choose you and I’ll choose you over and over without pause, without a doubt, in a heartbeat… It’ll always be you.

“To our forever @ercan_ram.”

She also shared an image of her ring, with the caption, “I do…

“Sorry guys, I don’t want to bore anyone with engagement spam… but I’m just not over this beautiful moment, my beautiful man or this beautiful ring…

“Thank you all for your incredibly kind messages… We’re on cloud 9.”

While Vicky had hinted that children could be on the horizon, she has since said she would be putting it off further down the line.

In 2022, she started the process of freezing her eggs, saying: “It was important for me to be transparent because there isn’t enough genuine, honest information out there.”

However, Vicky mentioned that the responses were not all positive.

“I had some really horrible messages,” she says.

“I underestimated how much this would upset people.

Fertility can be triggering and it doesn’t always end in happiness.

” I tried to be sensitive but I wasn’t prepared for some people to be so cruel.

“People were saying ‘why don’t you just have a baby now you’ve got a boyfriend?’

“It is so toxic and outdated.

“I know so many people who had children with the wrong men because they were scared that they were running out of time.

“Why aren’t we celebrating women who say ‘this isn’t the right time and I want to give my future children the best start in life’?

“It is so important we all know there are many different routes to motherhood.”

After being engaged for two years, the couple married in London on August 24, 2024, and then celebrated in Italy.

Vicky arrived on a traditional red London bus decorated in a white ribbon at Marylebone Town Hall.

Their wedding was a star-studded event with over 150 guests.

Guests included celebrities such as Love Island star Faye Winter, Towie actor Pete Wicks, and former cast members Ferne McCann and Danielle Armstrong.

Soon after their London wedding, the newlyweds jetted to Puglia to film Vicky’s Channel 4 show, Vicky Pattison: My Big Fat Geordie Wedding.

The show has two episodes and premiered on October 16, 2024 at 10 pm.

Mum shares two-ingredient all natural solution to clear out clogged drains, and it takes just 10 minutes to work

DEALING with clogged drains is never a pleasant task – however, a mum has come to rescue with a solution to make it a breeze.

However, a more recent video saw the cleaning whizz reveal a helpful and purse-friendly trick for clearing drains using cupboard essentials.

She asked her followers: “Blocked drains? Try this! Nothing drives me crazy like blocked bathroom drains.

”I discovered this great hack to clean them naturally and it works a charm! Best part? It’s so simple and quick to do.”

Judy instructed social media users to pour one cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by two cups of white vinegar.

She said: “I wouldn’t get too bogged down by measurements – just make sure it’s a 1:2 ratio.”

According to Judy, you should then “see a fizz in the sink as the baking soda reacts with the vinegar” – and once that’s done, ”cover it immediately with a cloth and leave it for 10-15 minutes to work its magic”.

Next, the savvy mum advised: “Put some hot / boiling water down the drain to flush it through.

”You can just use the hot tap although I used the kettle here.”

Finally, Judy told her fanbase to squeeze some lemon juice down the drain – this will eliminate any lingering odours.

“This is great for any drains in the house when you have a spare lemon and think of it.”

Raving over the affordable hack, she wrote in the caption: “It’s so easy! Let me know if you try it.”

Numerous fans were quick to praise the tip, as one said: ”Such a great hack!”

Another echoed, saying: “Love this tip!”

A third chimed in, commenting: ”Wow thanks for the tip. I discovered the baking soda trick to eliminate bad drain odour.

Cleaning hacks and tips

Here are some tips to help you clean your home like a pro:

”But the smell returned in a few hours. Now I will do your vinegar and lemon trick as often as I can.”

However, it’s worth noting that there were also words of caution were, as someone advised: “Never put boiling water down drains, ruins the pipes!”

This is also supported by the experts at WP Plumbing who said:  “Regularly subjecting your kitchen pipeline to boiling water will only soften or melt its joints (usually held together with glue).

”Over time, the water pipes will deteriorate and leak, requiring immediate repairs or replacement.”

The star shared an update with his fans from hospital

Boniface, 23, appeared to be taken to hospital after the incident as he shared a selfie from a hospital bed.

Fortunately, the star appears to have avoided serious injury as he took to X to share an update with his followers.

He simply wrote: “God is the greatest”.

Boniface didn’t escape completely unscathed, however.

The former Union SG striker posted a video of his bloodied hand which appeared to have been badly cut during the accident.

The same video showed just how bad the damage was to his car with the front bonnet completely smashed in.

Boniface had played for Leverkusen just hours before the incident as Xabi Alonso‘s side beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1.

The bagsman even found the back of the net, scoring the winner in the 71st minute.

Boniface’s crash comes just a matter of days after being locked in abandoned airport with the Nigerian national team for 18 HOURS.

Nigerian players and staff were left without food, water or access to phone connections at the abandoned airport which had its gates locked.

The unbelievable moment happened prior to the Super Eagles Africa Cup of Nations clash with Libya.

The match was ultimately postponed following the whole ordeal.

M&S shoppers rush to buy £5 chocolate Christmas gift that makes ‘lovely little stocking filler’

M&S shoppers have been rushing to buy a £5 chocolate Christmas gift that makes a “lovely little stocking filler” for kids.

The posh shop is selling a solid milk chocolate presents sleigh for just a fiver and customers say they are “brilliant”.

M&S shoppers have been rushing to buy a Santa chocolate sleigh[/caption]

We might only be half way through October, but shoppers have already been sharing the delicious M&S must-have on social media.

The find was posted on the Dansway Gifts and Bargains UK Facebook group alongside a photograph of the item.

The tin sleigh holds foiled solid milk chocolates inside a parcel bag.

The post was met with more than 800 likes and almost 200 comments from fellow Facebook users.

One said: “They are brilliant.”

Another wrote: “I have recently bought one. A lovely little stocking filler for my young grandson for £5.”

A third added: “They are very good for £5.”

While a fourth explained: “I’ve got two. I think they are so cute.”

You can buy the sleigh in-store at M&S where you’ll find it on the food hall shelves.

You can find your nearest M&S using the store finder tool.

If you spot one in your nearest store you might want to be quick because these Christmas items do tend to sell out fast.

It is also available to order online through Ocado.

It’s important to remember that if you order online, you will need to pay a little extra for delivery so bare this in mind.

If you are thinking of bagging one of the sleighs though, you should have a quick shop around first as you might be able to find a similar product cheaper elsewhere.

Cadbury is selling a build-your-own Santa’s chocolate sleigh online for £14, which is pricier than M&S’ version.

Meanwhile, Morrisons is selling a Santa’s Sleigh Chocolate Mousse for £6.

Supermarkets and retailers change their prices all the time, sometimes multiple times daily, so it’s worth checking you’re getting the best price on an item.

You can use websites like Trolley to see how the major supermarket’s compare in terms of price on any number of goods.

What else is M&S selling this Chrismas?

M&S is renowned for its Christmas food, it’s the time of year when shoppers upgrade their usual food shop and spend a little bit more as a treat.

We were lucky enough to try M&S’ huge Christmas range with 450 new items including Xmas dinner dip, turkey feast lasagne and hot honey brie.

A dip inspired by Christmas dinner featuring bacon bits, turkey, cranberry and even stuffing will be top of my shopping list this year.

Served up on little crisp breads, or scooped up with crisps, the dish is something you could eat by the spoonful.

Not forgetting the tipples for the big day, shoppers will be pleased to see the return of the original snow globe gin liqueur after being missing from shelves last year.

In previous years the drinks have been so popular that M&S slapped them with a buying limit because of the huge demand.

This year the liqueur which contains edible gold glitter comes in just one flavour, Clementine, and in a new gifting box for £20 (70cl).

White mulled wine (£6, 11%) is another new twist on a winter favourite, with pear, vanilla and mulled spice flavours.

How to save money on Christmas shopping

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.

Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.

Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.

Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.

Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.

Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.

Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.

Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.

They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.
