Mace Windu is one of the few Jedi masters that fans hope is still alive and kicking in the Star Wars universe. Given that the Jedi was one of the most powerful members of the order, fans find it very hard to believe that a simple fall from the Senator’s office could have slain the Jedi Master.
Samuel L Jackson himself has come out with comments about the character, which might have ignited the hopes among fans that the character might still be alive and kicking during the ear of the Empire, perhaps somehow assisting the Rebellion against Darth Vader.
Samuel L. Jackson believes that Mace Windu is not dead in Star Wars
Samuel L. Jackson, appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, had some very interesting things to say about Mace Windu, and whether the character is dead or alive in the Star Wars Universe. He said:
Mace Windu being alive in the Star Wars Universe is something that fans have theorized about for quite some time. The character, despite being a no-show for any of the main events in the narrative, could very much be alive and in hiding. Alternatively, the character could have died due to his advanced age before Luke and Leia took down the Empire, which could make a fun story on its own. If Mace Windu was still alive, he would have no doubt spent his days fighting the Empire from the shadows.
With all these Jedi popping up, was Order 66 largely ineffective?
In the time that Disney acquired Star Wars and produced content about the galaxy far far away, there have been multiple stories about how Jedi survived Order 66. While there were a lot of characters that were dead, there seemed to be a lot of them who fought against the Empire.
It is almost as if using mere clones to kill some of the strongest beings in the Galaxy was not a great plan. Palpatine was the first Sith in at least a thousand years to bring down the hegemony of the Jedi order, which is commendable as far as the history of the galaxy goes. However, it seems that the Jedi order didn’t fall as much as it got scattered, which would be further corroborated by Mace Windu’s survival, should it be the case.
It is for this very reason that it is unlikely that Mace Windu survived the events of Order 66, as it would undermine the Prequel Trilogy and everything that came with it, possibly ruining Emperor Palpatine as a villain.
