Gary Busey’s Harrowing Harley Davidson Accident That Almost Took His Life!

In 1988, Gary Busey, then 44, found himself in a life-threatening situation after picking up his Harley-Davidson from the shop. While trying to navigate around a bus, he miscalculated his turn, skidded, and hit his back brake, which sent him flying over the handlebars and landing hard on his head, without a helmet.

The aftermath was dire, to say the least, he faced emergency neurosurgery for a serious skull fracture that left his brain exposed. In an interview with USA Today, he recounted the incident, stating,

I had a nearly fatal motorcycle accident on Dec. 4, 1988, And almost no one expected me to recover. I want people to understand that life is very important. And that if you’re riding a motorcycle, skateboard, or bicycle without a helmet, you’re challenging the face of death I landed at the feet of a police officer and was rushed to an emergency room with a hole in my head the size of a half dollar.

Thanks to the swift actions of the police officer and paramedics, he received urgent care that likely saved his life. Any delay could have been fatal.

Placed in a medically induced coma to aid his recovery, he remained unconscious for four weeks. Remarkably, despite the severe trauma, he experienced little to no lasting physical effects. Just five weeks after waking up, he was able to walk out of the hospital, though it would take several months before he was ready to return to work. His rehabilitation was nothing short of extraordinary.

Gary Busey Claims He Saw Angels After the Accident!

Bouncing back from such a harrowing experience truly seems like a miracle. In a recent podcast with Howie Mandel, called Howie Mandel Does Stuff, the actor reflected on the traumatic event that nearly took his life, sharing insights about the impact it had on his perspective. He dived deep into the spiritual revelations that emerged from those dark days.

He spoke candidly about how the accident reshaped his views on life, leading him to cherish each moment and welcome a newfound sense of gratitude. He said,

I was shaken by an invisible guide, and only my essence went. That’s your soul, Your soul is housed in the caliber of your spine. [I went to] the spiritual realm of the supernatural, where I was surrounded by angels, which appeared to me as balls of light that were moving, changing color, and breathing. And I felt trust, love, and protection like I’ve never felt on earth before.

This experience gave him the strength to remain on the path of recovery and to embrace every day with love and gratitude.
