Adam Silver Announces 1st Pick of 2025 NBA Draft: Kai Cenat Shows up Like a Mafia Boss and Got What He Desperately Wanted at Knicks vs Celtics

It’s an incredibly beautiful sight to see pioneers of the entertainment world unite with sports associations and athletes to put smiles across everybody’s faces. Kai Cenat recently earned an opportunity to do exactly that and he stole the spotlight during the NBA 2024-25 Season tipoff game between the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.

While the defending champions concluded their first game of the season with a statement win against the Knicks, Cenat took every chance to attract the media’s attention. The iconic Twitch streamer also managed to meet with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and somehow kept his basketball dream alive.

On September 23, 2024, Kai Cenat, who is widely known as one of the best Twitch streamers on the planet announced that he quit streaming to pursue a career in professional basketball via X

Nobody really took Cenat seriously in the beginning, but the 22-year-old is apparently very determined about it. The Twitch star was recently featured in the Little Ballers Association this year and was a part of the New York Sky’s roster. According to Bleacher Report, Cenat and his team also won an LBA title in the mix.

Recently, the content creator made an appearance at the Celtics vs Knicks tipoff game and while he shook hands with Adam Silver, he convinced the NBA president to announce him as the first overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft. Silver happily obliged with a big smile on his face saying,

We’ll go right now! With the first pick in the 2025 draft… the New York Knicks draft my main man Kai.

Sadly, Cenat’s team walked away with a loss after the Celtics gave them a 132-109 beating. Kai Cenat’s visit at the tipoff game was to kick off his partnership with the NBA’s Creator Program (via Dexerto). Cenat was announced as a member of the program on October 21, 2024, and he has already taken the initiative to make himself the biggest content creator associate of the league.

Why was Kai Cenat decked out in mafia attire?

Kai Cenat made a much bigger statement than the Celtics, who are trying to retain their championship this year. What caught everybody’s attention was his outfit for the night. Cenat donned a dark blue pinstripe suit with an oversized coat, a hat, and dark sunglasses to go with it.

Fans were perplexed by the get-up, but it all made sense when the social media star announced “Mafiathon 2” after the cameras put him on the jumbotron. However, this isn’t the only effort Cenat has made to get his name sealed in the history books of sports.

According to Sports Illustrated, the Kids Choice Award winner has enlisted his name for the upcoming All Australian Basketball League (AABL) draft, scheduled for October 28th, 2024. There’s no assuming whether he genuinely plans on being a professional basketball athlete, but the efforts should be acknowledged.

Unfortunately, Kai Cenat will not be returning as a streamer until further notice, says Sports Illustrated. For someone who’s done several collabs with big-named celebrities and caused riots in the streets of New York because of how popular he is, Cenat shouldn’t forget that he still has something to look forward to if basketball doesn’t work out.
