Neon is one of the major cities in Starfield, located on the aquatic planet Volii Alpha in the Volii system. Neon rose to prominence due to its fisheries, particularly for Chasmbass, a species found only in that region.
In your journey, visiting Neon will be inevitable, as it is home to a powerful drug and numerous quests that players must complete. However, it’s easy to miss this region, especially if you are unaware of its exact location.
How to Get to Neon City in Starfield
Reaching Neon is fairly simple in Starfield. You need to travel to the planet Volii Alpha in the Volii system. If you’re unsure of the location of the Volii system, it’s right next to Alpha Centauri. Nevertheless, the exact location of Neon is in the image above.
Since the minimum level recommended to explore Neon is 5, you should be able to go there from the start. If you’re still using the Frontier and haven’t upgraded it, reaching the location in one gravitational jump may not be possible. As a result, it might take a lot of fuel to reach Neon early on.
Neon is home to one of the major factions in the game, Ryujin Industries. The region is also where Xenofresh, a former fishery that now serves as the administration of Neon, is located. The general vibe of the area is somewhat dubious, and the missions you receive here will reflect that.
If you’re a fan of Las Vegas or have ever wanted to visit it, Neon is the place to go. It is the biggest commercial hub in the Settled Systems and a region where contraband is easy to acquire.
What is Neon’s Specialty?
By far, the most important aspect of Neon is that Aurora is legal here. If you’re unaware, Aurora is a powerful drug that, when consumed, slows down time by 40% for 10 seconds. This potent effect can turn the tide in any battle.
Not only can you buy Aurora in Neon, but you can also craft it. To craft it, you’ll need access to Stimulants and Chasmbass Oil, which can be obtained from Chasmbass, a fish only available in this area. If you try to smuggle Aurora into other regions outside of Neon, it will be considered contraband, and you could get into trouble with the law if caught.
Overall, Neon is a vital region in Starfield, and you will often need to visit it. The fast-paced life of the city is a sight to behold, and if you join the Ryujin Industries faction, it will become a regular destination for you.
