Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: Even Kyle Richards Has to Follow Some Crazy Rules To Not Become a “Red Flag” Who Gets Kicked Out of the Show

As far as the casting process for reality shows goes, it’s safe to say the Real Housewives franchise has some of the most elaborate procedures involved, which can be arduous for all the people involved. Even Kyle Richards, who remains one of the top stars to emerge from the reality TV franchise, had to go by some very strict rules, as showing defiance to them could’ve easily led to an elimination.

Thomas Kelly, one of the producers involved, detailed this elaborate casting process, which helps them determine the best personalities for the show.

With a dedicated casting department involved, the show leans towards contestants who bear a commendable social media presence and are often the pillar of their respective communities. On top of that, a recommendation from any influential figure in the industry can help brighten one’s shot.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg, as Thomas Kelly stressed that they also have to be an open book. Moreover, the lack of it can often lead to one’s exit from the show, with one example being the departure of Elizabeth Vargas, whose contract for The Real Housewives of Orange County wasn’t renewed after two seasons.

A major red flag is when a candidate is guarded or not willing to express themselves in a meaningful way. Take Elizabeth Vargas from RHOC Season 15, for example. She was unfiltered throughout the interview process, but when the cameras started rolling, there were a lot of legal limitations regarding her ex-husband. We basically couldn’t talk about him.

Given that Kyle Richards’ personal life has often been the center of attraction among media, it’s safe to assume that the actress kept things unfiltered for the camera to avoid being a red flag in the eyes of the network. But while this made her one of the most entertaining figures in the reality show, her RHOBH‘s success almost ended up costing her Halloween Kills.

While Richards reprised the role of Lindsey, one of the kids from the original Halloween, for Halloween Kills, director David Gordon Green wasn’t initially convinced if the actress was capable of tackling the grungier gig. Part of it was due to the actress’ stint in Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which was a far cry from the role of Lindsey. But as the story goes, it didn’t take the Beautiful Wedding star long to win over the filmmaker, as she was adamant about pushing herself to the limit for the gig.

The actress did end up pushing herself physically, as despite sustaining a broken nose during the production, Richards kept on pushing the production, and her crewmates had nothing but adulation for the actress.
