Ever since Daniel Craig announced his departure from the James Bond franchise, all eyes have been on the famous face who will be taking over the part.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been heavily linked to a stint as 007, with James Norton, Henry Cavill and Regé-Jean Page also thrown into the ring – while Idris Elba immediately poured ice cold water on suggestion he could step into the coveted tuxedo.

Saoirse Ronan has now volunteered herself for a Bond role in a new interview, but only on one condition.

Following on from stints in Atonement, Brooklyn, Lady Bird, Little Women – all of which she received Oscar nominations for – the 30-year-old has revealed the project she is eyeing up next.

‘I would like to do something big and shiny,’ she told the LA Times, specifying that her dream would be playing a baddie.

‘I’d love to do that.’

Shedding light on her hit-packed CV so far, she added: ‘I’ve done a lot of independent films.

‘And I love the experience of making an independent film. I love the atmosphere on those sets.’

No Time To Die was released in 2021 and served as Daniel’s final outing as James Bond, sparking intense speculation over who could request their martinis shaken and stirred in his absence.

While trying to decipher who could replace the Knives Out legend as the seriously suave superspy has become a national sport at this point, there is also another actor who won’t be returning to the fold for the next flick.

Ben Whishaw, who appeared as equipment outfitter Q in Spectre, Skyfall and No Time To Die, confirmed that he will not be in the upcoming action flick.

‘I don’t think I’m going to be in the next one,’ he said during an appearance on BBC One’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg.

‘I think they’re going to start all over again, and with a new cast, a completely new cast, I think that’s my hunch, but I don’t know. I have no idea.’

However, Ben didn’t completely rule out a possible return, as he vowed: ‘I’d do it if they asked me.

‘But I… think it might need a kind of new lease of life and a whole new group of people.

‘I think it could be good for it. But if they asked me, I would do it, of course.’
