One Piece: Elbaf Arc Will Finally Explain How Big Mom’s Devil Fruit is Truly Broken With a Major Revelation

One Piece is now entering the long-awaited Elbaf Arc, where the Straw Hats will potentially reunited with the two giants, Dorry and Brogy, from the Little Garden Arc. Fans are also anticipating a much-needed development arc for the Straw Hat’s sniper, Usopp, who made a special connection with the two giants. The full appearance of Prince Loki and finding out what he truly is like or capable of is entirely too exciting. However, there’s one aspect of Elbaf’s past that we need to see again will be connected to a former Emperor.

Charlotte Linlin or Big Mom is one of the most formidable antagonists in One Piece so far whose history in Elbaf will confirm something about her Devil Fruit, the Soru Soru no Mi. The previous user of her Devil Fruit was Mother Carmel, Big Mom’s motherly figure. Carmel previously used the abilities of the Devil Fruit to create a homie named Pandora whom the villagers of Elbaf believed was the Sun God, Nika. If Pandora is still present in the Elbaf Arc, this could answer something about how powerful her Devil Fruit truly is.

Devil Fruits Work in Mysterious Ways and Big Mom’s Is One of the Most Complex

Big Mom has a scary control of the Soru Soru no Mi and the abilities of the Devil Fruit are insanely complicated. In short, the user is able to manipulate and interact with souls. They can also infuse these souls into objects and humanize them, just like Carmel who transformed Pandora from a part of her soul. The homies on Whole Cake Island are also homies. Big Mom, on the other hand, has also used the fruit to deduct years and decades from people’s lives. It’s a very menacing fruit but it does have one weakness: the target has to fear the user.

We’ve seen several Devil Fruits and most of the time, if the user passes away, the fruit’s effects become null. However, there is one confirmed Devil Fruit: Boa Hancock’s Mero Mero no Mi. She explains to Blackbeard that the people she turns into stone will not return even if the next user gains control and tries to turn them back. If so, will Big Mom’s Soru Soru no Mi work the same way with Pandora?

Soru Soru no Mi is Already Too Powerful But Is It Broken?

While Soru Soru no Mi is shown to be one of the most intense and weird Devil Fruits, does it have other limitations we don’t know about? Carmel died during Big Mom’s sixth birthday celebration with the other orphans of Sheep’s House and her abilities were passed onto the Emperor. The running theory is that Big Mom ate them all due to her insatiable hunger and it’s almost confirmed by how she just mysteriously has Carmel’s Devil Fruit.

Since we haven’t revisited Elbaf yet, we don’t have any confirmation that Pandora has disappeared after Carmel’s death. If the homie is still around, it then means the Soru Soru no Mi’s effects don’t wear off after the user dies. The implications of that just go to show how powerful it is and Big Mom’s terrifying potential. Only Eiichiro Oda can decide whether to bring this back.
