THE contract situation between the New York Jets and Pro Bowl pass rusher Hasson Reddick continues to be uncertain as the NFL season approaches.
The Jets don’t have much time to resolve the ongoing holdout with the offseason trade acquisition Reddick as the team’s season-opener with the 2023-24 NFC champion San Francisco 49ers takes place on Monday Night Football next week.

The two-time Pro Bowl Reddick hasn’t practiced with the Jets since joining the club in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason.
Reddick has been seeking a contract and he even requested a trade from the New York squad last month.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh spoke about the status of Reddick during a press conference on Thursday.
Saleh said that he is “not ruling him out yet” when asked if there was a possibility of Reddick suiting up in the primetime contest.
The New York head coach added it was “feasible” that Reddick could be with the team and play since he has belief in veterans, like the 29-year-old, to wake up and play the game.
Saleh then shared that he believes the 49ers will play wideout Brandon Aiyuk and offensive lineman Trent Williams after the two sat out in training camp and the preseason.
Saleh’s words on Reddick come after ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that he’s talked to both sides of the situation and said “no one knows” what the 2017 first-round pick as he wants an extension.
“There doesn’t seem to be any action between him and the team, who were clearly on different pages in terms of his long-term future in New York when the trade was made in April,” Fowler wrote.
“Even if he returns, will Reddick be a happy and motivated member of the organization?
“The Jets have been pleased with the development of former first-rounder Will McDonald IV off the edge, but it’s naïve to think the Jets couldn’t use a boost from Reddick.”
ESPN’s Dan Graziano also reported that New York’s coaching staff hasn’t spoken with Reddick since his introductory press conference.
The reporter added that the team believes in their pass rushers which consists of Quinnen Williams, Jermaine Johnson, Will McDonald, and Javon Kinlaw on the defensive line.
The Jets acquired Reddick in a trade with the Eagles on April 1.
He has skipped all of the team’s minicamps, training camp, and preseason which has resulted in over $2 million in fines.

Reddick has a $14.5 million base salary in 2024 which is the final year of his three-year, $45 million contract he signed with Philadelphia in 2022.
New York had lost Bryce Huff in free agency to the Eagles.
Huff recorded 10 sacks and 21 quarterback hits last year.
As for Reddick, he has posted over 11 sacks in the last four seasons.
Reddick has missed just one game in his seven years of NFL experience.
