Netflix customers vow to cancel service as they find movies and shows locked – despite paying for membership

NETFLIX subscribers are fuming and vowing to kick the streaming service giant to the curb after learning they’re blocked from viewing certain movies and shows.

One irate customer, an active Netflix subscriber, voiced his frustration in a TikTok video when he was unable to view the Waynes Brothers film White Chicks.

The man, who goes by Just Gourm on TikTok, declared Netflix “dead” when he shared his displeasure with the streaming giant’s limitations for ad subscribers.

“So, listen, Netflix is dead. You see that little lock,” the man said in the video as he zoomed into a small lock icon on the top right corner of the movie cover.

“They started locking shows now, and you can’t watch stuff if you’re not paying for the non-ad standard plan.

“So, they’re starting to lock content. Like, if you’re on the ads plan for $6.99, there is certain s**t you cannot watch unless you’re paying at least $15.49.

“Netflix is dead ya’ll. Netflix is dead.”

The U.S. Sun has reached out to the TikToker for comment.

The video has been viewed by over two million TikTok users, and some have agreed with the man’s disapproval.

One woman said she had been slowly stockpiling CDs since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I have been buying CDs slowly collecting since Covid,” she wrote.

“People need to start buying physically DVDs/Blu-rays again, or pirate because these companies keep raising the prices,” another said.

A third person agreed and advised Netflix subscribers to “cut the streams.”

“You can buy a new dvd every month for what you pay them. Collect your favorite shows and movies that you just rewatch anyway. Cut the streams,” the TikToker wrote.

Netflix has previously said some movies and shows are unavailable for ad-supported plans due to “licensing restrictions.”

“While the vast majority of TV shows and movies are available on an ad-supporting plan, a small number are not due to licensing restrictions,” the streaming platform highlights on its website.

“These titles will appear with a lock icon when you search or browse Netflix.”

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Netflix for comment.

However, several other commenters said they had long ended their Netflix subscriptions since the streaming platform’s crackdown on password sharing.

In April, Netflix officially cracked down on password sharing.

Users who share passwords are forced to pay extra to add additional users to their accounts.

Subscribers who add one additional member to their account will be charged an extra $7.99 per month.

One TikTok user said she drew the redline when Netflix began charging subscribers for password sharing.

“I canceled Netflix over a year ago when they cracked down on sharing,” she wrote.

“Live alone and if not even my parents could use my account, wasn’t worth it. I find other ways to watch stuff… never looked back!”

A second said, “I stopped using them when they stopped allowing us to be on each other’s accounts… Good riddance was with them since they had DVD’s.”

“Stopped using Netflix as soon as they stopped allowing password sharing. Haven’t missed it ngl,” another person commented.
