“Naruto looks better like this than he does in his own series”: Bleach Creator Tite Kubo Drew Naruto and Orochimaru and They Look Better Than Whatever Monstrosity Kishimoto Gave us in Boruto

Boruto has debuted many new characters and the design of the new-gen saviors has been loved by almost everybody. When the series debuted, there was a lot of hype around the Naruto sequel. However, it only took one Naruto appearance to ruin every fan’s day.

Fans expected Naruto to look more powerful, dashing, and charming as he aged. Pick up any Shonen protagonist and they have all aged elegantly. Yet, Masashi Kishimoto decided to go the opposite way and risk enraging countless fans.

The mangaka of Bleach, Tite Kubo created an illustration for Naruto. In the illustration, the mangaka had drawn Orochimaru and adult Naruto in his own style. Unfortunately for Masashi Kishimoto, fans have begun liking Kubo’s version of Naruto far more than Naruto’s character design in Boruto.

Tite Kubo has always had an extremely attractive art style. The characters in Bleach are often stylish and good-looking. Even the first villain of the story, Aizen is a complete hottie that fans cannot get enough of. So it’s no surprise that fans would love Tite Kubo’s version of Naruto better.

In the illustration created by Kubo, Naruto looks similar to Ichigo with an elongated face. The art style emphasizes Naruto’s bangs as well as the passion on his face. Fans have posted several comments praising the effort and others have pleaded for the return of Tite Kubo.

Why Everyone Hates Naruto’s Character Design in Boruto

It is a typical claim among Naruto fans that their favorite character was done dirty by Masashi Kishimoto in Boruto. Naruto went from being the hero to a nerfed father and fans do not like it one bit. The new character design of Naruto is often hated since it got rid of his iconic wild hair and instead gave him a boring face shape.

In his formative years, Naruto had a fierce and passionate appearance that suited his personality. As he ages, he looks more relaxed and his demeanor has changed. Another issue that is often pointed out by fans is that Boruto looks like a completely different series that is not connected to Naruto.

Fans are partially correct because Boruto was never created by Masashi Kishimoto in the first place. When Shueisha first proposed the sequel to Naruto, Kishimoto directed them to Mikio Ikemoto, his assistant since Naruto’s early years. The manga was eventually written by Ukyo Kodachi with Kishimoto as editorial supervisor. Kishimoto eventually returned to Boruto and took over the helm from Kodachi.

Some fans are of the opinion that Naruto’s character design in the manga is actually suitable for the character however, his design in the anime is debatable. In the manga, Naruto looks far more intense and dramatic. However, in the anime, his design is extremely inconsistent.

You can read Naruto on Viz Media and watch the anime on Crunchyroll.
