My ‘broke’ body scrubs are really good for your skin – it’s like what they use in hammams, everything’s in your kitchen

A BEAUTY fan has shared her “broke” body scrub that is both good for your skin and doesn’t break the bank.

It is similar to what is found in hammans and all the skincare ingredients are probably right at home in your kitchen.

Reddit user Cautious_Ice_884 is a fan of natural remedies to look and feel your best.

She shared several DIY methods and budget-friendly alternatives.

BROKE BODY SCRUB

“I like doing things that make me feel pampered though like a nice face mask, hot towels, a nice body scrub,” she wrote in a post.

She “especially” loves a hot towel on her hands and face because it feels “so luxurious,” “doesn’t cost anything,” and is “really good for the skin.”

She shared a “broke a** tip” for her at-home body scrub using items found in your kitchen.

She recommended olive oil and sugar for a hydrating and basic body scrub.

You can swap out sugar and pair the olive oil with coffee grounds.

“Add in honey, coconut oil, or an essential oil, and you can make a really nice scrub,” she added.

She said you can also use sea salt or kosher salt as a scrub on its own.

“Just make sure it is not too coarse. It’s really good for your skin, they do this in hammams,” she said.

A hamman is a public bathhouse normally associated with Islamic cultures.

Two other self-care things she does that feel “luxurious” to her are standing under cold water in the shower and placing a eucalyptus branch in the shower because it “smells like you’re at a spa.”

“Cold water is good for your hair and it’s really good for your body. Not too cold though – just enough where I can stand it,” she said.

An alternative is to get a small bowl and throw cold water on your body in the shower.

She said it makes her feel like she’s in a hamman.

NAIL NEEDS

She also shared how she cut costs on her nails since she stopped going to the salon and started doing them herself.

“I’d say doing your nails yourself will save a ton of money at the end of the day,” she said.

Now, she uses regular nail polish and applies it every three to four days.

This is usually when the polish starts to chip and look a bit old.

“I just cannot stand chipped nails. So I do my due diligence and do them often enough so it always looks fresh and I feel good about it,” she said.

BUDGET SKINCARE

The Reddit user said she uses drugstore products to complete her “basic skincare routine.”

It consists of a basic cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen that are about $10 to $15 each.

“The real trick is to keep the products consistent,” she said.
