SUPPLEMENTAL Security Income recipients should not be expecting any checks during September due to a scheduling anomaly.
The maximum monthly benefit available for an individual in 2024 is $943 and $1,415 for couples if both parties qualify, according to the Social Security Administration.

Recipients who keep their eyes on the payment schedule for SSI may not be in shock but many still may be wondering when they will receive a check.
Because September 1 fell on a Sunday this year, the payment intended to cover September was distributed on Friday, August 30 instead.
Because of this, beneficiaries technically will not see an SSI payment in September, according to the SSA calendar.
The next time SSI beneficiaries will receive a check will be on October 1.
SSI recipients won’t miss out on any money though after receiving two payments in August, one on the 1st and another on the 30th.
This also happened earlier this year in June when payments were distributed on Friday, May 31, instead of Saturday, June 1.
Recipients who did not receive any payments during June had to wait until Monday, July 1 for another check, according to the SSA calendar.
The next time it will happen is the month of November when recipients will receive two checks, one on the 1st and another on the 29th of the month.
When it comes to SSI, payments are paid on the first of every month unless impacted by a holiday or weekend.
SSI recipients include adults and children with a disability or blindness who have income and resources below specific financial limits.
The payments are also made to people aged 65 and older without disabilities who meet the financial qualifications.
SSI payments are not to be confused with Social Security retirement benefits.
Social Security beneficiaries receive their checks depending on which day their birthday falls on, with the payments going out three Wednesdays a month.
For example, if your birth date is between the first and 10th, the payment will be deposited on the second Wednesday of each month.
SSI Payment schedule for the rest of 2024
Below are the dates SSI recipients can expect to receive a payment for the rest of the year
- October 1
- November 1
- November 29
- December 31
If your birth date is on the 11th-20th, it will be deposited on the third Wednesday of each month.
Lastly, if your birth date is on the 21st-31st, it will be deposited on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
Those on Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) generally follow the same schedule.
